Eleven men have been arrested for lynching a man in Quetta’s Hazara Town Friday night.

The police identified them with the help of a video. A mob reportedly confronted and beat three men in Aliabad after they were accused of harassing a woman. One died on the spot while the other two were injured and are currently seeking treatment at Civil Hospital, Quetta.

A police team reached the site and tried to save the three men from mob violence. This angered the crowd and they started throwing stones at the policemen. Saddar DSP Ayaz Haider and Barori SHO Azatullah were injured in the attack.

The Balochistan home department has also suspended Barori SHO for showing negligence in the case.

The family of the deceased staged a protest on Kirani Road, demanding justice for their son. They even entered the Red Zone while protesting. The deceased’s father said that they want the DSP and Barori SHO to be suspended for failing to fulfil their duties.

Home Minister Mir Zia Ullah Langove has instructed relevant institutions to submit a report on the case. No one is above the law and we won’t allow anyone to challenge the writ of the State, he remarked. “We stand with the grieving family.”

Disgusting scenes, looked like as if another country had invaded and killed people after torturing them for hours. You see such things in India or Burma. Pakistan needs to make an example out of these mobs.

Apparently the culprits happened to be Hazaras and now the PTM is advocating for violence against Hazaras as “badal” - revenge.

Will these men be considered victims of "Honor Killings"?

Mobs in subcontinent can be quite brutal. It is not just Pakistan.

Harassing a woman is unacceptable though. Culprit should've been wiser.
