NEW DELHI: At least 15 people have been injured in an explosion - that may have been caused by two suspects - at an Indian restaurant near Toronto, tweeted police in the Peel regional area. The blast was caused likely by an improvised explosive device, police said.

The explosion occurred at 'Bombay Bhel' restaurant in a shopping plaza in Mississauga, Ontario. Peel Region police say “two suspects attended the scene,” detonated the devices and fled the scene, reported The Globe and Mail newspaper.

A spokesman for the paramedic service told The Globe and Mail that three people were rushed to a trauma centre with critical injuries due to the blast. The other 12 people suffered what he described as minor or superficial wounds.

"Two parties fled the scene immediately after the incident. 1st described as male, 5’10-6 feet, stocky build, mid-20s, light skin, wearing dark blue jeans, dark zip up hoodie pulled over head, baseball cap with light grey peak, face covered with black cloth material," tweeted the police.

Police say they received a call about the explosion near Hurontario St. and Eglinton Ave. just after 10:30 p.m. It was not immediately known how many people were inside the restaurant when the incident took place.

Police tweeted telephone numbers that can be reached for more information.

This blast comes a month after a driver plowed his white Ryder rental van into a lunch-hour crowd in Toronto, killing 10 people and injuring 15.

Two men detonated an "improvised explosive device" on Thursday, injuring 15 people inside a restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario, police said.

Peel Regional Police say the suspects walked into the Bombay Bhel Indian restaurant about 10:30 p.m. and detonated the device and fled.
Surveillance photos show the men wearing jeans and dark-colored hoodies. One of them had his face covered with a black cloth, police said.

At least 15 people were wounded during the explosion in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga, Peel Regional Police Constable Iryna Yashnyk said.

Among those injured, three people suffered critical injuries and were taken to a Toronto trauma center, officials said.

Their injuries were "consistent with those of an explosion," said Brian Gibson, deputy chief at Peel Regional Paramedic Services.

They? Do you know who did this? Can you contact the Police and give them the information you have? Please, any information would be a great help.

On topic: Extremely tragic and shocking news, hopefully they arrest the people responsible for this as soon as possible,

What intra Indian thing?

Do members of the Indian community on Canada bomb each other to settle their differences??

Woke up to this horrible news. Such a shame attack like this is unheard of in Canada. I just hope this such attack was an exception and not a string of attacks to follow.

I really want people responsible for this attack brought to justice.

Wishing for speedy recovery for those who are injured in an attack.

Well the largest mass murder in Canadian history (which was also the deadliest terrorist attack involving an airliner until 9/11) was carried out by Babbar Khalsa (a group that is still active) so anything is possible.

Sure if this was a terrorist attack then most probably it was a far right thing however I wouldn't rule anything out.

Racial trigger killing is common in Canada.

Racism exists in every single country of the world, but only in America you will find the state institutions going all out against people of color while protecting the whiteys :smith

This.

When the head of the state openly campagins against minorties of its own country then it will only influence the masses to take up arms against immigrants. At least here in Canada, we dont have any leaders be it in govt or opposition that is remotely close to Trump.

I have been to this restaurant few times. Wow can’t imagine this happening to stuff around me. Let’s hope they catch these culprits or else the next attack might going to be bigger and more violent.

You are correct. Current administration is an idiot.
But the point I was making was that it isnt unheard of racially triggered killing in Canada.

And Canadian immigrants need to stop presenting Canada as if JT is welcoming all the immigrants at the border with a flying moose and a cup of Canadian maple syrup. It is just Canada where racism had existed and continue to, maybe not as much in GTA.

Racism doesn’t go away just because a person go up north of an imaginary line.

Yeah they forget they had Harper for 10 years, that guy was a white surpemacist in sheeps clothing with all his policies and stuff.

But its not on widescale as it is US or Australia or even UK. Compared to all those countries, Canada is still by far the best country for immigrants.

Its far worse in the prairies and west..specially if you go to remote locations in Canada, you will see racism.

I lived in Saskatchewan for over three years and apart from incidents here and there, most people were either welcoming or fine with immigrants. There will always be few who would be anti-immigrants.
But as i said earlier, in Canada racism is not as bad as US or UK.

I am a Canadian citizen as well and now an Australian citizen, in my opinion Canada is more racist than Australia...

Please tell me how many Indian students or foreign students were racially targetted, do i need to remind you number of Indian students who were victim of racism in Australia?

My cousin was in Melbourne and he had witness lot of racism and he moved to US (not exactly any better).

Brother,

I hear you, however take what the media wrote back then, take it with a grain of salt. The targeting of Indian students was not racially motivated, it was opportunistic crimes. These kids would come here work till late at night and walk through alleys and streets through bad suburbs and would get robbed, beaten etc.

I am not saying all of the crimes targeting the students were like that however a lot were, to make things worst the news from Australia spread to India and the Indian media started running with like their a**** was lit of fire as the elections had ended and they needed a sensational news to sell the papers. Before you knew it it had become an international issue which actually made the situations worst for the students here....

Canada may have changed now, however the Canada I lived in during the early 90s was a more racist environment than my experiences here in Australia. I am not saying Australians are not racist, ofcourse there are racist elements here but my experiences showed me Canada was worst.
