Ehtizaz Hussain, a student of 9th class who stopped a suicide bomber of Lashkar e Jhangvi from entering Ibrahim Zai government school in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa today, sacrificing his life to save many lives of people.

He was a young Shia boy, who protected Sunni and Shia alike. I do not think there are many people like him at such a tender age to even attempt something like this. We cannot afford to lose people like these on a daily basis, because it is people like these who can make Pakistan a much better place for future generations, but they keep getting taken away from us. I have cousins this age, and it made me cry to read it. Why is there no action against LEJ LET, they have done majority of the bombings in this country, but everybody is focused on the other animals TTP, instead of even caring about this other menace.

LEJ have accepted responsibility apparently

Anyway here is the kid

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun ... Brave kid takes some guts to do what he did.

Salute to this brave man. Its sad we are losing them to bunch of religious extremist cowards

RIP.

Good post OP. I didn't even know of this story and I am glad you shared it here.

Also it's sad how Geo reports this bit of news by saying a student died in a suicide attack. They don't want to give any credit to a brave member of a minority for saving lives of others had he let the bomber enter the school.

Inalillahi Wainailaihi Rajioun

An absolute Pakistani hero...what can I say

Salam young man, you're a Shaheed of Pak Dharti

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun..... Truly sad news and hats off to this young boy who sacrificed.

What a great man.RIP.
A 9 year old girl was caught yesterday wearing a suicide jacket in Afghanistan.

I won't call him a boy.

MEN like him deserve to have their story heard and praised by Pakistanis.

I hope the army takes a final and decisive operation and eliminate all these rats, both, the TTP and LeJ.

Indeed! Such stories deserve more attention than the other ones that we hear and read every other day.

Rest in peace young man! Every Pakistani should loud him.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un

Salute to the brave man ! He's shown enough bravery at his tender age and level to deserve a legacy . Shame on Geo , they should have shown this news in truer detail .

Nothing will change until the TV channels in Pakistan start featuring such stories as headline news. There has been a spate of bombings in and around Paktunkhwa recently, some of it against security forces, some of it against minorities, but the reporting is muted. If this sort of thing was happening in a western country their would be uproar.

This. The media needs to be more active in showing the brutality of these barbarians so that the public can be more informed and ultimately reject these thugs. The channels show silly shows but never show these kind of stories.

desperately saddening news, sincerest condolences to his parents and there are no words to describe his bravery and sacrifice.

What can we really say about terrorists’ ruthless and barbaric mentality? It is safe to assume that they will cross all lines of humanity for the sake of achieving their evil agenda. But we will let their cowardly methods deter us from achieving our peace objectives. We are committed to restoring peace in the region, and we stand united with the government of Pakistan in regards to countering the threat posed by these terrorists.

What can we expect from Jew news? Deepika Pudikone birthday and haq-mehar of Veena Malik is more important than this.

Yeah stand with the corrupt government, what about the people who is going to stand with them?

This day should be named after him and his sacrifice should never be forgotten. What incredible bravery at such a young age.

RIP!

He should be awarded Nishan-E-Haider!

Name: Aitzaz Hussain.

Age: 14.

Well done brave man!

9th Class Student Stops Suicide Bomber

Had this boy not stopped the attacks, the dead would have been just a number like hundreds of those before them. Innocents especislly the turis who have borne the brunt of ttp and the local bangash population now have now no other option left but to leave the country to escape persecution. Throngs of young men have left for Australia by sea, but only a few are lucky to reach that country.

Saving lives: A teenager’s sacrifice for hundreds of mothers
By Our CorrespondentPublished: January 9, 2014

Security personnel examine the site of a sucide bombing in the Ibrahimzai area of Hangu district on January 6, 2014. PHOTO: AFP

HANGU: Perhaps the only way a parent can deal with the loss of a child is to believe that it was for a cause. This is how Aitizaz Hasan’s parents console themselves: reminding each other, their family and friends that their child is a martyr and he died saving hundreds of lives.

Aitizaz reached school late on Monday morning and was not allowed to attend the morning assembly as punishment. He was standing outside the gate with two other schoolmates when a man aged 20-25 years approached the Government High School Ibrahimzai in Hangu and said he was there to take admission, said Aitizaz’s elder brother, Mujtaba.

It was during this conversation that one of the students spotted a detonator and Aitizaz’s schoolmates ran inside. But Aitizaz stood his ground and got hold of the bomber who then detonated his vest.

“I had never thought that my brother would die such a great death. He sacrificed his life to save humanity,” Mujtaba said in an interview with The Express Tribune on Wednesday.

The school is the only one in Ibrahimzai, a Shia-dominated area in Hangu. There were nearly 2,000 students in the school at the time the attack occurred. Later in the day, the bombing, which was the first suicide attack at a school, was claimed by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

Aitizaz was the second of his siblings and had two sisters. He was a friend to many, respected and loved in his village, where the news of his death spread rapidly.

His father Mujahid Ali works in the UAE. He says he has not come back home to mourn his son’s death, but to celebrate his life. “My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children.”

“I am ready to sacrifice my second son for Pakistan as well,” Ali added. “There are a handful of people in the world who are martyrs; I am now one of those proud fathers whose son is amongst them.”

The government should announce a civilian award, Tamgha-i-Shujaat or Nishan-e-Haider, for his bravery, Mujtaba added.

Government officials had not visited the family until Wednesday night and neither had officials made their typical announcements of ‘compensation’.

Teachers and students say they are still in shock. The principal of the school, Lal Baz, said he is at a loss for words to express Aitizaz’s bravery. “The attack targeted education and I am surprised neither the federal nor the provincial government functionary has visited the family. Their silence is condemnable.”

A student, Atif Hussain, said the vacuum left by his death may never be filled. “Aitizaz died for education and no one can snatch this right from us.”

“My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children.”

Remarkable, those lines alone upset me further, this death was needless :(

If this kid did not have a punishment, he may have survived, but then others may have died, but he had to be punished on this very day for him to save the lives of others.

What exactly happened & why was he outside the school ? And how he stopped ? Pls someone explain or post an english article... im curious

It was really a brave effort. Now he should be given more appreciation and should be honoured as equal to what was given to Malala.

No disrespect to Malala who is admirable but this kid made the ultimate sacrifice for his school mates which far exceeds her achievement.

Actually brought a tear to my eyes :(

A 14-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero in Pakistan for tackling a suicide bomber -- dying at the main gate of his school and saving schoolmates gathered for their morning assembly.

Ninth-grader Aitazaz Hassan Bangash was on his way to the Ibrahimzai School on Monday in the Hangu district of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when the bomber, dressed in a school uniform, asked him where the school was, the teen's cousin told CNN.

Aitazaz and his cousin, Musadiq Ali Bangash, became suspicious, Musadiq said.
"The other students backed off, but Aitazaz challenged the bomber and tried to catch him. During the scuffle, the bomber panicked and detonated his bomb," he said.
Rajab Ali, who also witnessed the bombing, told CNN that he saw Aitazaz throw a large stone at a boy trying to enter the school. The blast happened when Aitazaz grabbed him, he said.

Aitazaz and the bomber died at the scene. Witnesses say the blast injured two other people.

Iftikhar Ahmed, a Hangu district police officer, confirmed the details of the attack to CNN.
Hangu is a troubled district bordering Pakistan's tribal areas. It is rife with sectarian violence, with attacks against Shia and Sunni Muslims.

"It was a great sacrifice to save the lives of hundreds of both Shia and Sunni students, who were in morning assembly," Musadiq said.

Aitazaz is survived by his father, Mujaad Ali Bangash, a laborer; his elder brother, Mustajab Hassan Bangash, a student in Pakistan; and three sisters.

Local residents such as Nawaz Khan are calling for Aitazaz to receive a posthumous award for his bravery. "He saved the lives of hundreds of students. He deserves more recognition than Malala Yousafzai," he said.

Pakistanis are comparing him to Malala, the schoolgirl shot by the Taliban in October 2012 for promoting education for all boys and girls.

Pakistanis on social media are praising Aitazaz's bravery, with people on Twitter asking everyone to use hastags #onemillionaitzazs or simply #aitzaz and calling for his heroism to be recognized with an award.

Imagine what would have happened if he had survived? Segments of population would have claimed that this was all a PR drama to instigate more drone strikes or action against militants. Declared yahoodi/raw/mossad/Nobel committee/Amreekan/whatever you can think of agent. Conspiracies would have been rife claiming that the suicide bomb vest was actually a stuffed toy or that he doesn't even exist.

IN a way Allah saved the poor kid from the scrutiny that he would've gotten from our retarded people.

What a hero.

Really hard to imagine the courage and humanity required to do this but let's remember this and not forget it in a few weeks like we always do.

He died a hero, a hero we all could learn from. He faced the demon right in the eye and gave his life for a bunch of people. He deserves to be in the highest place in Junnat.

As I was reading all the posts on the thread, this was the first thing that came to my mind. All the losers on the forum and in the general public would have proclaimed an international conspiracy and RUBBISHED the people- does Malala ring any bells?

This is the sad reality.

These terrorist scum must be eliminated. No two ways about it. They are animals. That they planned to execute and mutilate hundreds of innocent children is proof of it.

If only we were all as brave as this kid. RIP!

Because of this stupid mentality we are losing our beautiful brave children like the one in the picture.

The more we fight, the more they will become. We MUST hold talks to clarify between the groups.

After we clarify, we will know which ones are content with talks and which ones need to be dealt with militarily.

I agree with your last sentence though. Bravery is something that is in the blood. If only our Government was as brave as this kid.

You do not hold talks with barbarians, the fact they are trying to kill kids for no reason. Who in their right mind wants to even talk about peace with people like that? in essence they are selling their souls to appease murderers, instead of taking direct action against them. Pathetic mindset man.

Peace talks will be had, this will not stop these guys from killing kids, personally TTP is already under attack from the army and various groups, its time LEJ,LET SSP, are eradicated also from where they grow. Its fine having troops in FATA and Khyber but there should be some where these guys are coming from too, which many wont like the idea of because they point blank deny their existence. They have the freedom to move around without being stopped, and at the end of the day, they finish their plans on more tribals.

This! Most posters who are calling the boy a hero here, would had been calling him drama and what not, had he been saved

Malala and Ehtizaz Hussain cannot be compared. Both did different things, but both did what most us only dream about and do nothing

We have been using militancy for 10 year now. What has happened? These attacks have only been increasing and there are now more than 50 groups.

If we continue with militancy it will never finish. Out of the 50 groups, some of those barbarians, despite being the scum of this earth, are probably a group of people that can not take military defeat. The way they fight just strengthens their savage cause with each attack on them.

Operation Swat is an example. What good was it? The leader of Swat has now been promoted (Fazlulah) so what good is it?

Also, I am not saying we should hold talks with these barbarians specifically. Talks are important so we can separate the groups. The situation right now is if group B of the the 50 groups attack a certain place, we attack group C and then that creates a stronger group C. Then the Group C will attack some place and we will attack some other group. We will kill a few of C and so what? They will just come back for more. It will never finish like that

If we hold talks, and separate all the groups then we can specifically target those that are still violent.

I get your point of view and trust me I would wish for nothing else but to finish the scum that carry out these attacks but we must approach it in a proper way. Terrorism is a mindset that can not be fought with guns like that.

Nor kho praida mara za mung akhpal (local) khalaq nadi khabr che da taliban sok di ow cherta na razi. No bya pa Pakistan hakoomat su khabr wi?

Pakistani media hails Aitezaz Hassan’s brave act

Peshawar: A Pakistani schoolboy who died stopping a suicide bomber from attacking his school has been recommended for the country’s highest civilian award, a provincial police chief said on Friday.

Aitezaz Hassan, 17, tackled the bomber as he tried to enter a government school in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Hassan and the bomber died but no other students or staff were hurt, police said.

“Though I lost my sweet son I have no regret for what he has done. He has done a heroic job and I am proud of his bravery,” Aitezaz’s father, Mujahid Ali, said.
The bomber approached the school with explosives hidden under a school uniform on Monday, but students noticed and started shouting out warnings to stop him.
Aitezaz tackled him head on but the bomb detonated and Aitezaz died of his injuries, said head teacher Azmat Ali.

A Sunni Muslim sectarian group, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, claimed responsibility for the attack. The school is in Hangu, a predominantly Shiite Muslim area.
Lashkar-e-Jhangvi believe Shiites, who make up about 20 per cent of Pakistan’s 180 million people, are heretics who should be killed.

On Friday, provincial police chief Nasir Khan Durrani recommended Aitezaz for Pakistan’s top civilian award.

Newspapers ran editorials praising his bravery and contrasted it with the government’s inaction in the face of militancy.

“For the sake of Aitezaz and all the countless children that have been taken before their time, somebody from the government needs to take a page out of Aitezaz’s book and resist terrorists until they can no longer harm Pakistan,” the Nation newspaper said in an editorial.

The boy’s parents said no government official or politician had contacted them. Aitezaz’s father said authorities could rename the school after him and officially declare him a martyr, a designation that would bring some financial relief to his family.

His mother, brother, and two sisters were mourning Aitezaz but took some comfort in knowing that he had saved many others, the father said.

The number of suicide bomb attacks in Pakistan rose by more than a third to 46 last year, according to a study released earlier this week by the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies.

The same study said that sectarian attacks were becoming more frequent and more deadly. Many Pakistani politicians maintain ties with sectarian groups in return for support at election time.

Kudos to him..he has acted like a hero!

RIP, that boy just collectively owned Talibans, it's easier to take your own life while in the process bomb markets, mosques, Sufi dargahs, ... when you know you'll supposedly get a dozen of houris in the post-mortem galaxy, but this boy put his life on the altar for a nobler concern, saving his fellow human beings.

What's worrying is that it's the first suicide attack which deliberately targeted a school.
