What's new

15th match of 2019 World Cup between South Africa and West Indies abandoned due to persistent rain

Congratulations the rain won yet again. Rain is the best performing team at this year's WC.

Thank you for a wonderful WC England. Most memorable in history. We should have every WC in this country.
1. Best Team—Rain
2. Best bowler—Rain
3. Most destructive batsman—Rain
4. Player of the tournament—Rain

Step aside Virat Kohli.

There are many rest days between 2 matches, can't they reschedule the washed out matches in venues where rain isn't forecast? Since England is a small country logistics and transport/travel shouldn't be a big problem. I am sure teams won't protest, after all they would want their quota of 9 matches to prove their worth. Doesn't matter if crowds are sparse, even if broadcast quality is poor at least the process will be fairer.

Voww would be a devastating news for SA fans. Rain has just added to their misery and ended any chance of a fight back. Rain has affected two teams to make their chamce in the semis. Second could be Pakistan.

People who say this is the best wc are really joking. This is pathetic scheduling and robbing teams of important points.

Actually its bad news for WI. They already got top two of RSA.

RAIN RUINS PROTEAS-WINDIES WORLD CUP CLASH

Monday, 10 June 2019

THE Standard Bank Proteas and the West Indies had to settle for a point apiece in their rain-ruined ICC Men’s World Cup One-Day International at Southampton on Monday.

Only 7.3 overs were possible as the Proteas, having been sent into bat, reached 29 for the loss of Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram, both dismissed by the left-arm pace of Sheldon Cottrell.

The Proteas play their fifth match against Afghanistan at Cardiff on Saturday.

First ICC keeps boring and snooze fest matches on Saturdays and now whatever good matches are there are spoiled by rain.Pathetic ICC.

We should host all events in Canada instead where the rivers flow with milk and honey, and dates fall from the sky.

This World Cup needed reserve days. You cannot take the risk with unpredictable UK weather.

Most days feature only 1 game so reserve days could've been implemented.

I don't know about that, but when its summer we actually get summer. So yeah holding the tournament in Canada will have a better chance of not having washed out games.

The scheduling of this tournament has been awful. Games should have been more spread out , there should have been more days where 2 games featured, also the weather is not great in the UK at this point. It's usually the middle of June and start of July till the end of August where the weather is hotter .

SA will be breathing a sigh of relief, but also might see it as a chance missed. WI must be gutter having gotten both Amla and Markham early.

The scheduling for this WC looks more and more horrendous on a daily basis. Some teams could be missing out on going through to the next round because of games being washed out. I hope this is the final game involving the rain, but I don't think it will be.

What? SA are all but out. They need to win all their 5 games left to have any chance.

Mohammad Yousuf

Not even a single 50 against non minnows in a World Cup game

Yousuf comes close, but I was talking about all ICC tournaments and not just World Cups. His match-winning 81* in the 2004 Champions Trophy against India on a green pitch was far better than any of Amla's knocks in tournaments. It was a technical masterclass by him and Dravid on that day.

No, if the game ended up being curtailed then WI were in the driving seat and likely winners with their batting line-up. But because they didn't lose out right and have a point on the board, they're still in the tournament and if the forecast continues the way it is, more teams will be dropping points too.
