ICC T20 World Cup (2026): USA’s Ali Khan reports Indian visa denial for Pakistan-Origin teammates via Social Media

Sure, you're right. But they already got to host the Olympics. Where as we already look like clowns to the world (unrelated to cricket) and this episode also tells the world we are incapable of even hosting a 20 nation WC. Not everything is about he did it so I can do it, which is why India (yes Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc) is full of filth everywhere cause monkey see monkey do. This mentality needs to change.
Which Olympics was hosted by them?

Year please

we will host common wealth in 2030 .its a trial and error for Olympics. Who ever wants to know will know. People security triumphs anything else.200 Pakistanis, who came to india to watch 2011 wc went off radar later.so its not easy in any case.
Again, I agree with you 100%. My argument isn't about softening security, but this work should have been done earlier. Cause because of this reason, bad press is happening which isn't a great image for India. Am not talking about fans, talking about players where BCCi and IND gov should have had some sort of work done prior to get the visa done faster.

I don't think they have denied any pakistan origin player visa. Didn't Azhar mahmood ccome here as coach?

Sorry but how can ICC chairman suddenly step in to try and speed up visa process that is supposedly fixed and set in stone and cannot be expedited because of Mumbai attacks 20 years ago.

I thought this would be controlled by the home ministry, what role does ICC Chairman have here, to speed things up..... hmmmmmm.........
In Short it means - The ICC is proactively handling logistics for everyone involved in an upcoming international cricket tournament and is working closely with Indian embassies worldwide to avoid last-minute issues.

Nothing to Hmmmmmm about it. If anything it is another proof of great administrative capability of Jay Shah.

Rehan Ahmed and Adil Rashid issued visas to travel to India for T20 World Cup

Visas for England's Rehan Ahmed and Adil Rashid to travel to India for the T20 World Cup have been issued, with the ICC confident that Indian visas for all players, support staff and officials of Pakistani origin or nationals at the event will be arranged in time. It had emerged late last week that Rehan and Rashid, with Pakistan ties, had been waiting for clearances even as the rest of their team-mates in the England squad had received theirs.

A number of players of Pakistan origin from England and Australia have faced delays in securing visas to travel to India in recent years. An Instagram post by the USA's Ali Khan last week, claiming he had been denied an Indian visa, brought the issue to light once again. Political and diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan, always fraught, are at their lowest ebb currently and obtaining Indian visas for Pakistani nationals or those of Pakistan heritage has been especially difficult in recent years. Even the Pakistan's men's team faced a brief delay before traveling to India for the 2023 World Cup.

In all, there are 42 such applications from the squads of Canada, Netherlands, UAE, England, Italy, Bangladesh (where the former Pakistan legspinner Mushtaq Ahmed is part of the coaching staff) and the USA. Visas, it is believed, have already been issued to players and officials from the Netherlands and Canada, while visa appointments for members of the UAE, USA, Italy, Bangladesh and Canada squads are due to take place early next week

The ICC has taken on a more proactive role in facilitating applications and is understood to be in touch with Indian High Commissions and Consulates in various cities across the world to ensure the remaining visas are processed without issue. The global governing body is confident that all visas will be issued by January 31, when the support period for the tournament begins. The first games of the tournament are scheduled for February 7.

Except they didn't, the England squad departed without Rashid and Rehan yesterday so it's already having an impact on preparations.

Complete farce. What the hell is this? Lol. Bcci and Modi Gov making India a massive laughing stock around the world. This is the country that wants to host olympics in the future and that but picks and chooses which origin players it gives visas or not.
🤦‍♂️ just complete shambles.

Btw has the hosting Indian team received their sri lanka visas?

Care to explain to us how they weren't prepared enough?
Doesn't England know that the visa process for players of Pakistani origin takes extra time and clearance ? They haven't learnt any lesson from past incidents?

:kp

Look at the way the so called independent checked suddenly kicked into action when son of home minister was having to intervene to withstand pressure on his role.

Post Mumbai security checks and all of this drama were thrown into the bin and visas stamped immediately.

We should know by now when Indians mention Mumbai attacks for anything to do with cricket it is usually a bluff and they will quickly back away from it whenever money is involved :(

If they were prepared, they would have submitted the documents on time as per the requirements for Visa for Pak and Pak origin visitors to India

Except they can't because of the BCCIs complete lack of basic competence in organising world events. The fixtures were confirmed 7 weeks before England's departure. India's racism means the visa process for Rashid will be 7-9 weeks MINIMUM and requires the submission of his passport. To start that visa process he needs to supply his full itinerary and travel plans which cannot be done without the fixtures.

That is an ICC problem and its probably best to dissolve ICC and tie together countries with poor relationship.

It's not thought is it. Tournaments hosted in India regularly have extremely late fixture announcements. Take a look at a tournament hosted in Australia or England and there'll be a years notice.

Here Only competent is ECB who think they can change the visa policy just for some random players.

Follow the rules or stay at the home . So Stop crying and whining about it .

And the delays always revolve around participation issues of Pakistan in India and now Bangladesh with India.

The core of the problem is currently participation is seen as a right. dissolve ICC and make participation in tournaments into a privilege and the beggars will fall in line.

the key to all this is dissolution of ICC.

Nah. Its englands issue for not being prepared. The world doesn't revolve around the tiny little island anymore.
They submit their documentation at the same time as they do for the rest of the world?

Subcontinent geopolitics is India’s issue and they are taking advantage of their financial might in pushing these stupid rules down everyone’s throats.

So the only solution is not to have a sports organization with poor relationship between nations.

I'm with @KingKhanWC . disband ICC.

Except that's just a poor excuse, there was no issues around Pakistans participation when the fixtures were announced for the upcoming WT20 yet they were still announced ridiculously last minute.

If a countries racist policies and organisational incompetency are regularly having an effect on other countries players preparation through no fault of their own then that country should not be hosting world events.

If protecting Indian citizens is called a racist policy, we will do it 24/7. We are proud of it.

Show some spine and stay at home instead crying here.

Restrict India from hosting international tournaments. If that leads to ICC being disbanded, too bad.

Today India is behind Pakistan and Bangladesh cases, in the future it might be SENA countries.

Greed will not stop India becoming the clowns that they inherently are by nature.

Isolating India is the only option here, but it’s wishful thinking considering the crazy amount of money they bring in.

Cricket is just not a relevant sport and that’s the sad reality for ICC and the other cricket boards.

In fact to take this a step further the racist policies is just an additional reason, if a country regularly can't organise a tournament without only announcing the fixtures within a couple of months of it starting they shouldn't be hosting world events regardless of any additional reasons anyway.

3rd world nation denying visas to USA .Nobody is going to run off to Bombay escaping Dallas

Given your and UN "enhanced" definition of "Racism" to include sovereign policy of regarding national origin, India is in good company and should proudly wear the racist label from Paks and Brististanis.

Regarding claims organizational incompetence, you will see those disappear once like Pak and BD are removed. So the resources are not wasted on catering to hopeless boards which can't support themselves

So we are pushing for the same thing.

If you want to be proud of your racism then go for it, it says a lot about your character but racists don't tend to care what others think. Just don't let it impact ICC events and players preparations.

Again, what do Pakistan and Bangladesh have to with the ridiculously poor organisation that has been shown? When the fixtures were announced there were no issues to consider with Pakistan (who it had already been agreed would play in Sri Lanka ages ago) or Bangladesh. The delay in deciding the fixtures was just pure incompetence.

India should operate with the world and not handicap itself.

Only one way to find out. My contention is that lot the energy is being spent catering to to two dead beats. Hopefully, BD and Pak will end up boycotting in solidarity and leading to a collapse of ICC.

As I said, these issues have always been resolved in due time, a delay of a couple of days isn’t gonna be monumental lol.

First posters need to Ask England why they put Wasim Akram for additional screening everytime he goes there.

The fact that Rashid wasn't able to fly out with the rest of the squad means it wasn't resolved in time.

Wasim Akram has a 10 year UK visa, he's not forced to go through a completely different application process that limits his international travel, and face extensive delays for it based on where his grandma was born.

I am still surprised that post Mumbai security checks can be expedited by 1-2 articles in British media.

Thank you to all those pundits who called out Indian discrimination.
