4 years on, Modi praises note ban

On the fourth anniversary of demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said it has helped reduce black money, increase tax compliance and formalisation, and given a boost to transparency.

On November 8, 2016, Prime Minister Modi announced the decision to ban all currency notes of higher denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 from midnight.

Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Modi listed the beneficial outcomes of demonetisation.

'Demonetisation has helped reduce black money, increase tax compliance and formalisation and given a boost to transparency,' he tweeted.

'These outcomes have been greatly beneficial towards national progress,' Modi said on Twitter using the hashtag 'DeMolishingCorruption'.

Along with his tweet, the prime minister also shared a graphic on how demonetisation has ensured better tax compliance, improved tax and GDP ratio, made India a lesser cash based economy and gave a boost to national security. -- PTI

So bigot finally finds voice to praise his biggest surgical strike on Indians.

lol at DeMolishingCorruption. Yeah, India is now corruption free 4 years hence this scam, solely helmed by him.

The great benefit of this drive against cash is that smaller notes are still in circulation which means that the govt doesn't have to bankroll India's starving masses, these can still be supported by acts of charity from private individuals...if they feel like it.

The exercise was to make sure the massive notes hoarded by congress and other UP parties before UP elections were null and void. The exercise was successful and BJP was the party with most cash during the elections. BJP won the election and it was a land slide. One of the many incredible and outageous strategies by Shah to win elections. People suffered but there was a sense of pride and sacrifice that they were rooting out corruption. Ofcourse it was bogus but when one makes the masses think they are sacrificing for greater good, they typically tend to win. It also gave Modi the baton of a crusader against corruption.

Congress and goons in other parties aren't typically that smart as they always get caught in corruption scandals. The techniques they employed for corruption were just too crude. Modi employed the western model of corruption by helping the corps and thereby securing their support of bankrolling his election campaigns.
