Today Indian team is playing its last cricket match at the famous Mohali cricket stadium.

Punjab Cricket Association will be shifting to a new stadium coming up at Mullanpur nearby which will host all domestic and international fixtures allocated to PCA by the BCCI.

Mohali will always be remembered as one of the best venues India had and there are many great memories associated with it.

The 2011 semi final is part of history.

Tendulkar surpassed Lara's test run tally as well here. Two moments i am personally grateful to have witnessed live at the venue.

A great venue that will always be remembered for the masterclass put on by Misbah on that eventful day. Farewell :(

Didn't know this! Totally out of blue. Great memories of this stadium.

First international game played here was a test match where WI Pacers, led by Kenny Benjamin dismantled Indian batting in '94.

Didn't know that. Any particular reason that they are abandoning this wonderful stadium?

Until thr mid 2000s , Mohali was known for offering good pace and bounce to seamers unlike traditional Indian stadiums. In Duleep Singh, it had a professional pitch curator who knew his trade.

Eventually due to pressure from Indian team the curators were forced to make the pitch slower and flat.

It has one of the quickiest outfields as well. When you time the ball on Mohali there is just no stopping the ball even if its a forward defensive shot.

I will miss cricket at Mohali.

But thats life. Its all about changes and we must be willing to embrace if it is for the betterment.

New Chandigarh stadium is going to great too.

Hats off to Chandigarh. The greatest Indian city and the best people by far.

This little city of India now has 3 cricket stadiums.

Pakistan has some good memories at Mohali too.

As an Indian i am proud that this is the stadium Pakistanis travelled to the most in India. It is the trust the Pakistanis bestowed upon their Punjabi brothers in India that i am proud of.

Kamran Akmal and Razzak drew a great test match at Mohali. Remember?

And thanks to Shahid Afridi cameo Pakistan also chased down 320 plus in an ODI here once where Yoni hit a century. It was a great match.

You guys move to a new stadium, here we take years to renovate stadiums. :yk

Mohali cricket stadium was demographically not correctly placed. It was very close to army airport and was causing issues in radar, hence the lights has to be placed so low.

2011 cwc semi final Vs Pak
2016 world T20 match Vs Aus, Arguably Kohli's greatest t20 knock.
And India's famous test win Vs Aus in 2010 by 1 wicket. All at this great venue.
I was there at the stadium for the latter two.

What a venue! :akhtar

358 runs chased in last ODI with ease.

Mohali, we will miss you.

How the hell did we defend 250 runs here in 2011 semi final? :srt

Different pitch was curated.

Plus the pressure of a World Cup semi final, the pressure of the semi final being a Pakistan and India affair.

I think it was a great batting surface. India batted very poorly in that match and you have to give credit to outstanding bowling by Pakistanis.

No due either to assist Pakistani batsmen. Had due come, India would have been screwed.

Dew? Surface was sluggish in2nd innings.

Rohit Sharma blasted an ODI 208 against Sri Lanka as well at this venue.

Also James Faulkner hit 5 consecutive sixes of Ishant Sharma to win it for Aussies last time we played them here :yk

Kamran and Razzaq of all people battling out a Test draw in 2005 was my fondest memory.

Nowadays we can't bat out a draw for all the money in the world.

Looking back, two really odd names to bat out a draw.

We had Jumbo too back then who was a threat on any surface with his dead straight darts.

Absolutely missing the absence of cricket at Mohali / Chandigarh during this World Cup. The pride of the north Bharat. The absolute best where we have had some memorable encounters.

Only sad posts please 😞
