Mickey Arthur might have indeed used bad language that caused Umar AKmal to be upset about, but what Umar Akmal has made the case against him is that he went to the media to report what happened. This was a matter that should had been dealt with the PCB directly.

It's understandable that Umar Akmal needed support in what he thought what happened to him was wrong. Hence, had he went to a players association, they could had voiced his concern or even guided him properly.

Same way when the players were recalled all of a sudden from CPL and the English County League, at that time the players were weak against PCB. They really needed to form a union and say to them that how the foreign leagues offered them better help as players. Infact, the association could had jointly asked the PCB whether the purpose of the National T20 Cup was to help the players or help the PCB make the T20 tournament high profile by them being their.

Obviously, no institution in the world would want a worker union as unions could get their work rights by pressuring the organisation. So you cant PCB make an union agianst themselves. What is needed is an ex player to stand up and do the job.

Recently in an interview, Mickey arthur was asked who was the Godfather of Pakistan Cricket and his answer was Misbah ul Haq.

This shows that even after Misbah being retired from cricket for 5 months(2 years since ODI retirement) the guy still has influence till the PCB level. THis is something thats really hard for a player to achieve. Even Afridi couldn't get that much influence.

If Misbah could form a union or a players association, he could do great help to the players by helping them fight for what they think is right, and also help guiding them where they are wrong.

I agree with you. Umar Akmal has brought on a lot of this himself to be honest but I think it would have been very helpful with the situation regarding recall from leagues because it seemed like the majority of the Pakistan players in CPL and T20 Blast wanted to stay with their respective teams.

We are pakistani's. We don't band together to form associations so that we can hold the decision making people accountable. We just love moaning and complaining and expect people to hand us our rights instead of taking them forcably.

I remember rashid latif saying on Game on hai last year that the first thing he planned on doing after his retirement in 2003 was form a union. He was promised some support initially in 2004 by some ex-cricketers & cricket associations. But later on every guy that promised him support backed out including domestic associations in karachi.

We are cowards by nature. It is how we function as a society saying one thing while doing the opposite. Even in offices, our work culture is like that. Doesn't matter if there are 10 employees or 100 employees, on critical matters none of them will raise their voices and communicate their concerns to management. But before the management has meeting, everybody is discussing things like he is the thekedar of the company.

Sometimes I think that if the aussie pay dispute would have happened with our players, they would have screwed the player association at the first given opportunity instead of putting up a fight like the aussie who were resolute and were willing to forsake the ashes on principle. Our guys would have happily gone to play the ashes by screwing everyone in the first class & women's cricket.
