"A total like this has never been chased before but there's always a first time" : Azhar Ali

Azhar Ali speaking after Day 4:

"It's a really good effort today chasing a big total. The character shown by the batsmen, specially the tail was great. Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz stuck in and Asad Shafiq played a special knock."

"It was a hard day to bat, the lights were on all day and the clouds kept coming and going and the storms were also there. We got through it. The target is big but we've made a good effort."

"Asad is a terrific batsman. He was struggling for runs but it doesn't get any better than this, playing at the Gabba under lights. It was a wonderful innings to watch and we enjoyed it."

"With a total like this, you need to bat every session well. The message was that we want to really make this innings count and you never know. A total like this has never been chased before but there's always a first time. We wanted to show character and determination and we did, which is a good sign. We have 2 wickets remaining and we will fight as much as we can and see where we can finish. Younis came back into form which is important, he's a senior player and the signs are good."

"We had to back our techniques. It's easy to doubt your technique when you come and play in Australia but we wanted to back ourselves. The innings which was gone, we wanted to keep aside and focus on this innings and play with determination. When the ball is there to hit, we wanted to make the most of it and play positive cricket. First two hours under lights, we were cautious as we didn't want to lose wickets. We accelerated in the morning a bit but we had to keep coming and going which affected the momentum. It was a tough time to bat and we got through it, a lot of the guys spent a good amount of time in the middle."

"Winning tomorrow is a hard task but we can't rule anything out. Asad is there so we have to keep our hopes up."
