Altaf Hussain - He is citizen with MQM and the whole set up is in London

Nawaz Sharif - Ends up in UK whenever its a tough spot for him

Bhuttos - UK is their defacto home always

Imran Khan - Has a history there having almost half his life there

Ofcourse with Imran and Bhuttos there is a difference, taht they had a career there or did their education from there hence a strong link.

But why so for others?

most elite pakistanis have an affinity with london as well so it is not limited to politicians only

- america is too far away

- europe is better than asia

- the uk is the most feasible option in europe because there is no language problem

- london is by far the most attractive city in the uk

Surely there are some traditional links dating back to the time when Britain ruled the Indian sub-continent?

But hey - better London that Italiano. ;)

Just like the Elites in various former French colonies have strong links to the current ruling government in France.

Also quite easy for foreigners to buy property in Britain. Far easier than places like the Gulf states or India.

why would any pakistani investor want to buy property in india?

They wouldn't probably, India was just an example of countries which don't allow foreigners to own property. The UK is far easier for foreigners to buy for non-British investors so it would be a natural attraction for politicians to export their loot abroad.

Isn't Musharraf in London too?

I guess given the large UK Pakistani population there is no shortage of cronies for them.

Brit Pakistanis have very strong connection with Pakistan as well , comparatively much more than American and Australian ones,Canada probably is after British ones, that probably creates a welcoming environment for Pak leader, celebs and as already said the investment too.

Credit to ethnic Brit citizens for being ok with Desis(Ind,Pak,BD) having such strong connection back home,I wouldn't be that broad minded but then my country wouldn't be involved in colonization of half the world either.

Bhai jaan the Nooras get "chor chor" naray wherever they go in London. I won't be too sure about the welcoming environment. However "chor chor" is a minor inconvenience infront of spending life in jail in Pakistan.

Can you imagine a situation where someone like a Corbyn conducts his political activity from Pakistan and the UK would have been ok with it? They would have been hounding the Pakistan embassy everyday to give up their citizen or atleast muzzle his voice.

I guess different sets of rules apply if you are rich or poor.

If there is any country Pakistanis own, apart from their homeland, it is the UK. They are well represented in many fields, including politics, even have a british pakistani as a mayor of london. So it is a natural destination for those who could afford.

Pakistani expectations are lower, the public over there probably thinks their PM owning property in the UK makes him an English lord. If Corbyn conducted so much as a speech in Pakistan he would be suspected of being a terrorist sympathiser. In fact some would describe him as that already.

I hate this London obsession Pakistani elites have, they still try to force British influences on Pakistan when in reality they should be copying America since we're far better than England in every way. Old Pakistani rich people still live in the old times when Britain was somewhat of a superpower but not anymore.

This also probably why everything in Pakistan is built so small cause that's how the British contruct their roads and buildings even though Pakistan has much more area.

That may also explain why Pakistani politicians are in favour of "Ring roads" in cities like Lahore, Karachi, Pindi etc. Lmao that is such a British concept. Here in North America we have straight highways that go east to west or north to south.

Box > Ring

Exactly, I hate how they have roundabouts over there, narrow roads, small buildings, small everything lol. This is cause of British influences and Pakistani expats investing their money in Pakistan building things the British ways.

Pakistanis obviously have more influence in Britain than they do in America. British Pakistanis are far more visible in day to day life than their American counterparts, no wonder the Pakistani elite feel they can get more leeway in the UK than in America.

Don't blame the Brits, blame the people of Pakistan for electing those leaders and the American Pakistanis for being invisible.

We have cricket and football you have rounders and something which isn't football. :)

As for the OP probably due to the British Pakistani community being well established with people in many high positions. Many supporters of Nawaz are here in the UK.
