Speaking in Pashto - Can someone add translation?

From what I’ve read on Twitter he’s saying that he’s fit to play and team officials lied about his injury to get him out of the team.

Bizarre stuff.

Typical desi team drama and afghanis have too much of it for some reason.

This is why we can't have nice things, as soon as someone's feelings get hurt they run to the media making false claims about how the whole system is out to get them.

Even if he isn’t fit. He is Afghans best opener and big hitter. So why is the Darling of ASIA acting like as they are India or Australia with abundance of batting talents to leave out Shahzad?

Poor from Afghans, they should inform a player he is not in favour due to poor form instead of making up false excuses. Minnow mentality.

These Afghan players/team behave as if they are the 2nd coming of the great West Indies team(s).

Anyone know Pashto? Pls translate the video

OMG. There is nepotism in the Afghan side as well!:)):)) Imagine a player of Shehzad's quality being omitted:faheem

The gist of the whole conversation is that he is accusing ACB of conspiring against him and have termed him as injured to get him out of the world cup.

He mentioned that he found out the news after he was done with his training session and turned his phone on in the team bus. When he asked the team doctor, he asked him to go talk to the manager. The manager asked him to keep quiet and he would talk to him about it later.

He doesn't knows if the reason behind this is that he was quite vocal in support for Asghar Afghan. He said Asghar knew how to lead the team and keep the team as a one unit. He said people kept on telling him that Gulbadin had changed due to his promotion to captaincy but he found it himself when he talked to him about the injury. He said Gulbadin was arrogant and his whole demeanour had changed. He said the captain mentioned that his keeping wasn't good enough and footwork wasn't there which shows that he is not fit enough to play. Shahzad said they did the same fake injury thing to Asghar and declared him unfit even though he is fit.

He said he hurt his knee a bit in the warm up game against Pakistan. He went to a doctor in London, who took out some fluid from his knee and injected some fresh fluids and gave him tablet to eat before a match. The doctor told him that he is fine to play. Shahzad said he is still fine and can even play tomorrow if they want him to.

At the question of his next step he said he doesn't knows what to do next as it was his dream to play the world cup and now he can't. He said he was declared unfit before 2015 world cup as well and when the captain changed he was suddenly brought back. He said it's difficult to wait for 2023 world cup now and he would discuss the situation with his friends, elders and ex players for the next step. He said he doesn't see himself coming back to the team after this.

Mamoon, you said on the languages thread that you can speak Pashto, prove yourself.

Lol this Afghan side behaves like they are world-beaters when in reality they are still minnows. First replacing the guy who captained the side to many key victories with someone as innocuous as Naib. Then dropping one of the best batsmen they have in what is a batting line-up of glorified Number 8s. Afghanistan certainly doing themselves no favors.

This is a criminal act if proven true.

You cannot throw out a fit player like that. The ICC Comititee should be investigated on what basis did they accept the replacement player.

This could result in serious problems for Afghanistan cricket board if they made a fake report and submitted to the technicle comititee .

He said team officials have got personal with him, he is fit and can play, he was not aware of the announcment ACB made about him, he is hurt and Captain cant control this team , Asghar was better captain as he used to know players well.

This man has 3 chins and he’s keeping in international cricket

its not about whether he is fat or not

Its about whether he was injured or not.

You cannot replace a non injured player, that is plain cheating.

If Shezad was not injured, and was replaced then this is really bad by the board.

The technical committee approves replacements for players in the squad. A player could only be removed if injured.

If Shezad was not injured, then ACB could face consequences.

But isn't there a proper procedure by the ICC to confirm the injury of the players before allowing a replacement?

This is not going to help afghan team, i think they are going to have a very poor WC.

Why would they even want to replace Shahzad?? He's one of their star players.
I'm sure he IS injured. Just look at him.

True. And his lack of physical fitness(not medical)cant possibly be an issue because this has been something which is since forever, not a sudden occurence.
But then if he was indeed injured Shahzad shouldnt blame the board and captain etc so openly.
Doesnt make sense either way.

This is not going to help afghan team, i think they are going to have a very poor WC.

They lost their chance vs Sri lanka to get their first win.
I doubt they'll even win any games now.
0 wins is the most likely scenario

For those who do not follow Afghanistan cricket

Mohammad Shezad is not in the good books of his board. On many occasions he has been dropped when selecting squads for crucial matches. For example the first Test match they played against India.

Reason being is his immature behavior, and plus his poor keeping and batting. However he does score more than the other Afghanis.

WHenever the Afghanistan team is getting picked, he has always been the point of discussion amongest selectors, as while some favor him, most in the board dont.

THing is, even while being fat and being a terrible keeper, he still scores more runs and has been selected as there best batsmen in the past.

Now during the world cup, he has shown terrible keeping, and plus the commentators have mentioned how he has bad footwork. I Think thats what the team management has picked up plus he hasnt been scoring runs.

Thing is, whether he is out of form or not, thats a seperate issue, but you CANNOT throw a player out of the final world cup without showing that he is injured. This is unfair to other teams, as Afghanistan after checking the form of there player are now making changes and could bring in better players.

In world cups there is a procedure to make squad changes. You submit some application to the Technical committee, that committee has Harsha Bohgle, Sangakara, a host representative, an ICC representative, a World Cup representative and another person and they have to approve the changes.

Someone merg this

Also, Afhganistan cricket has had some board problems aswell. Asghar Stanikzai was there captain and this isnt the first time they have treid to remove him.
Back when afghansitan was qualifying for this torunament, they made Rashid Khan the captain. THe team ended up losing all matches and were not gonna qualify for this event. They had to call Asghar Stanikzai who won the matches and got Afghansitan to the WOrld Cup.

After taht they have dropped him again. GUlbaddin is not even a permanenet member of the squad as he cant bowl nor bat, he was just a power hitter they had in the team.

So tehre is nepotism. Gulbaddin was like Mirwais AShraf, only playing as a 5th or 6th bowler, and to do power hitting.

Since other Pashto speakers I have provided the gist, I would provide a word-by-word translation of the first minute to prove that I can speak Pashto. Excuse the incoherence, but that is how word-to-word translations are.

"By God, I had no idea. I was just doing my training, and I haven’t slept for 2-3 days, so if I make any mistake I hope God will forgive me.

2-3 days before the match, I did my practice. I batted, bowled and kept wickets. I fielded and took catches. After that, I had my meal, boarded the bus, took my phone from my bag and saw the news.

I showed it to my doctor and asked if he had given the report? It was shared by the ICC media and someone forwarded it to me.

The doctor said I didn’t and ask the manager. The manager told me to keep the phone with yourself and we will talk later. The poor doctor lowered his head in shame and he said he can’t do anything. That is when I heard that I am unfit."

It is as good or bad as my English and Urdu. Afghani Pashto is usually quite tough to comprehend though, but he grew up in Peshawar so the dialect was familiar. I am sorry if I didn't take the bait on your attempted humour, although I am curious to hear you speak Urdu with your British accent.

My Urdu isn't the best but my pothwari sounds like anyone Bewal or Gujar Khan.

He was replaced by an 18 year old "explosive" wicketkeeper batsman, who scored 2 runs in 22 balls before getting out against NZL.

He was unceremoniously dropped from the WC15 squad, which was a shocker because he's been their best batsman. Right after poor show in that WC, he was brought back and immediately turned up impressive numbers.

Perhaps his choice of living in Pakistan (Peshawar) is still hurting the Afghan board? They fined him once for playing street cricket and was ordered to shift to Kabul with family just because he did not "seek permission" for that street match.

I miss the batting of Mohammad Shahzad. If he wasn't injured, how did his medical report get approval from ICC technical team for the replacement ?

How hard is it to apply for an administrative job at the ACB? Who exactly works for them as they dont really have any cricketing legends or ex players to run their affairs

There are definitely some serious issues going on in Afghan team atm. Mujeeb didn't play against NZ & Rashid Khan didn't bowl a single over in that match.

Mamoon, you said on the languages thread that you can speak Pashto, prove yourself.

He should be easily able to do that, I clearly understood what shahzad was saying, although I am not a pathan and can speak pushto just a little.

Understanding pushto is easy as compared to speaking it. I knew the meanings of the basic words like "sabaa" (tomorrow), and I could completely understand the gist of it.

They are badly missing Shinwari and Stanikzai

Mujeeb has been bowling badly and Rashid got injured.

This man single-handedly marmaladed the whole indian bowling attack in front of a packed indian dubai crowd.

Still a better keeper than so-called carrey, mushfiqur, hope etc.

#Sher-Dil Player. #RIP-AfghanCricket #LongLive_BCCI-ACC_Franship!

wow already nepotism circus has started before they even established their name in cricket world, i thought this Afghan team will rise very fast. but seems like they are on the act of destrying their cricket future !!

This gulbadin nayeb looks like an arrogant character, seems like power of captaincy has gone to his head.

Sidelining proven match-winners like shehzad & marginalizing veteran stalwarts like samiullah shenwari & asghar afghan desn't bode well for their prospects in this world cup.

This is not true.

Asghar had to go for an operation. Rashid was vice captain so he took over. Once Asghar was fit again he took his position back.

Removing the captain 2 months before WC was not a good idea.

Why do you need to prove anything to anyone? Let them be.

Good on him for having the confidence to come out and speak about in front of the cameras and tv
Maybe the squad will be better off without him but at least he’s aired his views

I suppose a team like Afghanistan can afford him but sooner or later they will need to instill some professionalism in the side.

Lets be honest,we would rather have this Shezad in our team instead of captaan sarfraz.

Afghanistan opener Mohammad Shahzad threatens to quit cricket after World Cup axe

Mohammad Shahzad has threatened to quit cricket after being declared unfit for the remainder of the World Cup by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

The opening batsman and wicketkeeper played in Afghanistan's first two matches but the ACB cut him from the squad last Thursday, saying his knee injury would not allow him to play any further part in the tournament.

Shahzad, 31, who picked up seven runs over the losses to Australia and Sri Lanka, said medical advice he had received said he would have been fit to play in a few days after having his knee drained.

"If they don't want me to play, I will quit cricket," an emotional Shahzad is reported to have told local media after returning to Kabul.

"I don't see myself playing anymore. If they [the ACB] have a problem, they should let me know. I went to a doctor in London and he ... said that I could play after resting for two to three days.

"I was removed from the 2015 World Cup and now this one as well. I am going to consult with friends and family, my heart isn't in cricket anymore."

Shahzad, Afghanistan's highest run-scorer in one-day internationals with 2,727 runs, was not selected for the 2015 World Cup due to a lack of fitness and also received a 12-month ban in 2017 for a doping offence.

ACB chief executive Asadullah Khan said: "It's absolutely wrong to say that he was unfairly dropped.

"We've given a medical report to the ICC to prove that he is unfit, and after thorough deliberation they allowed us to replace him.

"We can't carry unfit players. We understand Shahzad was not fully fit when he still went on to play two games and this is not acceptable anymore."

Afghanistan, who replaced Shahzad with 18-year-old Ikram Ali Khil, next play South Africa in Cardiff on Saturday with both sides looking for their first win of the tournament.

MOHAMMAD SHAHZAD’S CONTRACT SUSPENDED FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD

The Afghanistan Cricket Board today suspended the contract of wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad for an indefinite period due to breach of ACB’s Code of Conduct by the player.

As per ACB’s policies, any player travelling out of the country is required to seek the permission of ACB. Shahzad has not adhered to this, repetitively.

Mohammad Shahzad has also breached the ACB Code of Conduct previously and was recently called for questioning by the ACB Discipline Committee in relation to a disciplinary matter during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Mohammad Shahzad did not attend meetings scheduled with the Discipline Committee on 20th and 25th of the last month. The Discipline Committee will meet after Eid-ul Adha holidays to assess the breaches by Mohammad Shahzad and make a decision to be publicized soon.

ACB has well-equipped training and practice facilities within the country and Afghan players do not require to travel abroad for such purposes.

Poor shahzad,

he was born in Peshawar, lived a lot of his life there, learned cricket there, got married there, his family is there, but ACB is dead set on punishing him for it.

There have been reports on discrimination of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, but someone needs to do a report on discrimination in Afghanistan against those afghans who were previously refugees in Pakistan. I think it will be eye opening.

Mohammad Shahzad has been suspended by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) for an indefinite period due to a breach of Code of Conduct.

During the Cricket World Cup 2019, the Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman had slammed captain Gulbadin Naib and top board officials for sending him home despite being fit to play.

The Discipline Committee had called Shahzad for interrogation last month, but the cricketer did not attend the meetings scheduled on July 20 and July 25. “My son wasn’t keeping well. So I could not attend the meetings. I had already informed the board,” Shahzad told Sportstar on Saturday from Jalalabad.

This publication has learnt that the Peshawar-based Shahzad was recently practising in Pakistan despite requests from ACB to relocate to Afghanistan permanently.

The cricketer grew up near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Before getting married in Peshawar, he spent his early years in a refugee camp in the region.

According to the ACB officials, the committee will meet after Eid-ul Adha holidays to assess the case and reach a decision. In a statement, the board also claimed that “any player travelling out of the country is required to seek the permission of ACB. Shahzad has not adhered to this, repetitively.”

“ACB has well-equipped training and practice facilities within the country and Afghan players do not require to travel abroad for such purposes,” one of the ACB officials said.

MOHAMMAD SHAHZAD SUSPENDED FROM ANY FORM OF CRICKET FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR

Afghanistan Cricket Board’s discipline committee has suspended wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad from participating in any form of Cricket for a period of one year after he was found in breach of ACB’s code of conduct for players repetitively.

Shahzad has violated ACB’s disciplinary rules and regulations previously as well and has not adhered to ACB’s code of conduct for players. He has travelled out of the country several times violating ACB’s policy for players to seek its permission before doing so.

ACB has well-equipped training and practice facilities within the country and Afghan players do not require to travel abroad for such purposes.

Mohammad Shahzad on Sunday became the first Afghanistan player to reach 2000 T20I runs.

Shahzad achieved the feat during the ongoing match against Namibia in the T20 World Cup. The right-handed batter scored 45 runs off 33 balls before walking towards the pavilion.

Shahzad has now scored 2011 runs in T20Is in 68 matches with 12 fifties and one century under his belt.

India skipper Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the format with 3216 runs under his belt from 91 games.

Meanwhile, former Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan received a guard of honour from Namibia during the ongoing match. Asghar Afghan is playing his last match for his country as he has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Saturday.

Afghanistan is locking horns with Namibia in the ongoing T20 World Cup on Sunday and this will be Asghar Afghan's last match for his side.

As Asghar came into bat when Shahzad's entertaining knock of 45 came to an end in the 13th over, the Namibian side gave the former Afghanistan skipper a guard of honour during the match.

Asghar Afghan has played six Tests, 114 ODIs and 75 T20Is for Afghanistan. The right-handed batter made his debut against Scotland in 2009.
Coming back to the game, Asghar scored 31 off 23 balls as Afghanistan posted 160/5 in the 20 overs.
