I opened the score card of the ongoing test match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Afghanistan is playing a 4 man spin attack

Mohammad Nabi- Off Spin
Rashid Khan- Leg Spin
Qais Ahmed- Leg Spin
Zahid Khan- Slow Left Arm

And they are about to win the test match against an old test member nation.

Marvelous effort, and credit to Rashid Khan for having the guts to play 4 spinners in one Test match

Bangladesh is playing with 5 spinners

Taijul Islam
Shakib
Mehidy Hassan
Nayeem Hassan
Mahmudullah

9 spinners playing in one test game!

They could develop their pace stocks by experimenting with some pacy/seaming pitches against Afghanistan so they can prepare for overseas tours but Bangladesh would rather gain in the short term (even that seems out of question now).

It was always gonna backfire, Afghanistan have better spinners than Bangladesh.

BD made a blunder , they should have gone with green pitch , it would have improved there own bowlers as well as batsmen , and on the other hand Afghanistan would thrive on dusty pitches , as Afghans strength is spin.

Yup, afghan batsmen wouldve been bundled out

It will be a big set back for Bangladesh if they lose this test to Afghanistan which is a very young team.I believe Afghanistan team has more young players than any other test team.

Bar Shakib rest are uber crap, they should have played Fizz or Taskin instead, absolutely terrible pitch reading and team selection.

I don't know what Bangladesh was thinking. Afghans play spin reasonably well and it was a bad idea to give them a spin-friendly track.

A completely stupid decision and whoever made the decision should get penalized.

Gloucestershire sign Afghanistan International Qais Ahmad

Gloucestershire Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Afghanistan International leg-spinner Qais Ahmad.

The 19-year-old will play in all of Gloucestershire’s Vitality Blast matches in 2020 and will be part of the Division One County Championship side for the final six matches of the campaign.

Qais expressed his excitement on signing for Gloucestershire:

“I am extremely happy to have signed for Gloucestershire for the T20 Blast and then the County Championship.
It is a great honour for me to join Gloucestershire after they had such a successful 2019.

Having played T20 cricket around the world I have always wanted to play first class cricket in England to develop my red ball skills. I am looking forward to working with Richard Dawson.”

The spinner was selected in round four of the draft by Welsh Fire to play in the inaugural Hundred tournament taking place next year. The whole of the West and Wales can look forward to watching a rising star of the world game throughout the 2020 season.

In February 2019, he was signed by the Hobart Hurricanes for the BBL season. Qais took seven wickets in his three matches, including a best of 3/33 in the Semi-Final against the Melbourne Stars, where he bowled one of the balls of the tournament to dismiss Marcus Stoinis.

He made his Test debut for Afghanistan in September of 2019 for their one-off match against Bangladesh. In this contest, he claimed his first test wicket by bowling Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Qais was drafted by the Rajshahi Kings in the 2018/19 Bangladesh Premier League and took six wickets in six matches.

Originally, he announced his talents in December 2017 when he became the leading wicket-taker for Afghanistan in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup with 14 wickets.

Following the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named Qais as the rising star of the Afghanistan squad.

Gloucestershire Head Coach Richard Dawson added:

“I’m delighted that Qais has agreed to join us for next season as the Club enters its first season in Division One since 2004.

We had a very strong season in 2019 and Qais will help take us to the next level in both the long and short formats with his game-changing skills.

He’s one of the most exciting young spinners in the world and I’m looking forward to seeing him add a new dimension to our T20 and County Championship squads.”

Kent Cricket has announced the signing of Afghanistan spinner Qais Ahmad for the entire T20 Blast and two County Championship matches.

Ahmad has established himself as an international standard T20 leg-spinner, having already featured in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Australia's Big Bash League (BBL) and the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

The 20-year-old has a T20 career bowling average of just 21.28, an economy rate of 7.5 and has taken 77 wickets in 67 matches in the format. Ahmad also has a T20 batting strike rate of 126.46 and has an unbeaten T20 half-century to his name.

"I'm excited to play in the Vitality Blast and I'm really looking forward to being a Kent Spitfire," said Ahmed in an official statement.

"Having played alongside Daniel Bell-Drummond at Colombo Kings, I have heard good things about Kent and I will give it my all," he added.

Afghanistan spinners looking top-class nowadays.

Qais Ahmed doing well in The Hundred, 2/11 in 15 balls

Rashid Khan
Zahir Khan
Qais Ahmed
Mujeeb ur Rehman
Mohammad Nabi
Noor Ahmed

Afghanistan don’t need pace bowlers for the WT20 when they have spinners like these. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make it to the SF.

Spinners peak when they are around 30 but Afghan spinners are at their peak when they are not even 20.
