Akif Javed has been in outstanding form during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025, delivering impressive performances for the Rangpur Riders. His consistent pace and wicket-taking ability have placed him among the top bowlers of the tournament.

Recognizing his exceptional form, the PCB has included him in Pakistan’s ODI squad for the upcoming 2025 tour of New Zealand. This selection marks a significant milestone in Akif's career as he prepares to make his mark in international cricket.

Finally a good addition for Pak playing 11... hoping Akif will grab this opportunity so we can get rid of Lord Shaheen Afridi.

He's a good bowler, good line and length but he'll be tested in Asian conditons. These NZ conditons are easy for pacers

He was never express so idk why it's there in the thread title but he does have tools to work with.

I've always liked him but his output hasn't been great (dismal actually). My hunch is he is a technical change away from being a good bowler.

He is not accurate but he has improved alot in last two years , can bowl in the high 140ks so very much capable of being express if some technical adjustment is made to his action.

If he's only 24, then there maybe some hope. But if he's 3 years older than his stated age as is typical for many PAK bowlers , there is very little hope for him to correct that jump.

Even today he was bowling in the low 130's by the end when he was hitting upto 144 kph in the PP.

These speed guns are faulty. He was fast and his accuracy was good as well and he can use short ball very well.

He is already an upgrade over that wingless eagle Shaheen.

He is easily 140ks bowler and can touch upto 150ks.

According to speed gun M.Ali and Harris Rauf bowls at same pace.

The jump looks ugly but if its working for him, who are we to complain.

But i think his jump is a distraction for the batter. Like how Ashwin used to stop and than bowl in his run up to mess with the batter, the jump also have the same affect on the batter

Is he the one from Karak KPK region, another one of Rizwan' s clan , Irfan Khusdil Akif , 3 out of 15 that's 20% of the squad on tour

Unfortunately Amir got in the hands of bad company, Butt Asif Kami & Wahab., whereas Rizwan no matter how mediocre is atleast not corrupt
Just before the sting in 2010, I was in PK and went to Changa Bangiyal to see his village. My late Uncle took me and we were so proud of him but little were we to know that he would betray us. Butt and others were the instigators but Amir should have said no. As much I don't like Afridi for his politics, he wasn't corrupt and Amir could have gone to him. Just a terrible let down.

Exactly , Pakistan cricket took a nosedive from there on barring CT 17 its all dark and gloomy

Express in T20 cricket maybe. Not express today and it's laughable to suggest that the speed guns were faulty

I don’t know the ins and outs but the last part is questionable when you consider the fact that he is a shareholder of a player management company that involves other active Pakistan players.

It’s a conflict of interest, which creates a high corruption risk.

Has reasonable pace and can get movement.

Not a fan of the big jump at the end of his action though. It isn't really transferring momentum well through the crease. He will be a much better bowler with more rhythm and control if he smoothens it out similiar to how Zaheer Khan did

He has to improve a lot but looks a good prospect.Don't think he is cut for t20s. With his big jump and yesterday's bouncy pitch, he was getting bounce on wayward deliveries and batsman missed hitting them.if he goes on like that on sub continent pitches, he will be slaughtered.

His jump is too high and kills his momentum. Rather going too much upwards, needs to drive through the crease
Very good observation. He is losing his momentum as he seems to stop for his jump. Whole poing of run up is transfer thaf momentum into the ball. He seems to be losing a lot of thar momentum to the ground at the crease.

I hope he does not become another spray gun. He needs to keep learning and stay humble.

He bowled well, but he has some poor fundamentals. That run up is a bit all over the place which will cause his rhythm to fluctuate up and down. The jump is also a bit too exaggerated. Nothing necessarily wrong with a big jump, but again it just doesn’t look that consistently repeatable as say Imran Khan had.

On the flip side, if hes bowling well with these issues, his ceiling could be very high if he gets a proper bowling coach (not pound shop like we have). He just needs to come to the UK, we have some amazing Pak origin coaches that will sort him out very quickly with minor adjustments

These new Zealand speed guns are faulty.

I saw akif javed in bpl he was easily clocking 145 and even touching upto 149ks and he was faster than bangladesh bowler nahid rana who has touched 150ks in champions trophy

These New Zealand speed guns are faulty and they don't show the real speed. Bowlers look faster than the speed shown.

Akif will clock upto 145ks in every other country.

Akif came onto the national scene during the 2019 National T20 Cup and was swinging the ball both ways at decent, though not express, pace.

He tore his ACL in 2020 which set his development back.

Regarding his vertical jump, unfortunately he's had that since his debut and don't see it changing. Can't help his knees or ankles. Always liked him though, in a professional setup he'd have progressed quicker.

Akif Javed in the debut ODI series

Matches - 3
Wickets - 7
Average - 23.57
Economy - 5.89

He is the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in his first ODI series.

Today he finished with a spell of 8 overs, 62 runs and 4 wickets

Definitely seems like he'll have ankle problems with that big jump and its hard to see him having a long career but could be effective while he is young & healthy.

I am a bit surprised he made his debut in ODI's than T20's considering his domestic performance have been much better in T20's and BPL is sort of what got the spotlight on him.

Seems decent though and he had a fairly decent ODI series. Tendency to bowl some no balls and wides though so he'll need to clean that up.

Still looks like some one who is very raw and that is after playing 6 seasons of domestic cricket, proves that our domestic cricket grooms nothing.

If he serious about his career, as soon as he has some money after playing leagues, go to England or contact Ian pont while he in Pakistan and revamp his runup to avoid injury.

Use his own money, treat it as investment and he can earn it back by being more marketable and got longer

PCB and it's Coaching is useless!

ize
No thank you.

Akif is doing good with his current action
His action has issues and the jump at the end can lead him to injury and the jump is the obvious but his runup is garbled and inconsistent. If he wants to preserve his career, maximize his earning potential then he needs to tune his action.

If Ian Pony triggers people then select another Coach but the same advice applies.

If he wants to play for longer and earn more then he needs to invest his own private money and get it right and ignoring the obvious (and keep playing) will reduce his playing days and his earning potential.

Someone close to him should advise him that for the sake of his own monetary benefit, he should get these issues fixed under the guidance of a professional (overseas), after a few contracts with franchises around the world, he should have his own money to be able to fix issues for his own benefit

Get someone else if Ian Pont is a "trigger"...

His action sort of copies Zaheer Khan from Ind. As I said before, he needs to get the jump right but I don't see him working on it or changing. This is him for good or bad
