Another India-Pakistan final on the cards in the 2019 World Cup?

The hype, hysteria and ultimate joy (pain for Ind fans) of the CT finals is never forgotten. On the bright sunny day in London, Pakistan trounced India to lift the Champions trophy for the first time.

2 years later in the same city, there is a chance of another Ind - Pak final and this time for world cup. India is overall the best cricket team at present and almost got all the bases covered. Pakistan, though struggling in test matches, is playing some fantastic cricket in shorter format. With the influx of good young players like Imam, Fakhar, Babar...the batting looks very good and Pak bowling will always be good.

IND, ENG, PAK and NZ will be my 4 semi finalists. If IND tops the group (which they should on form), ENG 2nd, followed by PAK and NZ....we will get IND vs NZ and PAK vs ENG semi finals. There is every possible chance of PAK upsetting ENG again (like CT) and IND beating NZ.

So are we in for another Indo-Pak ICC trophy final? Boy what a sight that will be.

Pakistan would have won the world cup 2011 in Mumbai (what a sight it would have been!!) had Misbah batted a little faster. Pakistan would have won 2007 T20 world cup had Misbah banged the length ball out of the ground rather than scoop it. Ifs and Buts...

If we play to our potential we'll beat West Indies, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh with relative ease. That's 4/9 teams in the group stages. Toss in a couple of flukes and we're through.

WC fever is truly here. Wish it starts in a week or two. Here's some of the predictions from my friends here

BD Fans: doesn't matter who we lose to, we need to win against Pakistan. We already beat their gun team in a world cup in England before. Our recent track record is great in Eng as we reached CT semi final. Wish we won the CT SF against India, our bogey team, and we could have easily won the CT final. Pak haven't beaten us in half a decade. Wish we can reach the final and beat India to erase all the heart breaks.

Pak Fans: We are a gun team in England, if we reach SF, we will win the world cup. We beat the two best teams in CT and we can do it again. All these matches in between are immaterial. Even in Asia cup, if we reached the final, we would have won the cup as we already beat India in the CT final after losing in the group game.

Indian Fans: We will lose the SF because of Dhoni. Kohli doesn't do well in knockouts. Bumrah always comes under the pump in finals. Wish we meet SA and Eng in SF and finals.

But england is the main problem,they are the best side in those conditions atm.I'll be furious if we dont make it to semis,after thats its gamble on top order performance.

Forget playing India in Finals, Pakistan will need luck to beat Bangladesh. You have no tested backup players and a couple of injuries if they happen will impact your team balance and throw in new untested players into pressure situations. And I'm not even talking about the old baggage you carry in your team!

except for shan masood and abbas, all are tested players in onedayers, Pak need to test those two out in the next 8-10 onedayers.
