Anyone been to Saudi Arabia recently - question about the Tawakkalna app

I am travelling for a short trip for Umrah next week IA. First time I am travelling to SaudiA after the pandemics and I have been told by friends and family about this Tawakkalna app. I have also read it about through my airline.

Does anyone know if it's still mandatory to download? I did download it and tried to register but could not select my nationality, in fact no natioality can be selected. I sent an inquiry to support, but my message was not delivered since receiver's inbox is full.

Any tips? Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe you need it to schedule your Umrah slot. They probably won't allow you at the ground floor for Tawaf and Sa'ee without it. You can still probably do it at the higher floors. You need a local Saudi number to complete registration from what I know (you can get sims very easily in Saudia, especially in Makkah). If you are using other numbers, it will be stuck on nationality like you are experiencing.

Thanks for the information. I am used to get local sim there. The nationality option comes well before phone number, so don't know what the issue is. Have turned off the VPN also. Otherwise will take it when we are threre In sha Allah.

Tawakalna app is not in use anymore.but to pray in Riaz up jannah you need to download the app Nusuk and get an appointment. They won’t let u in Riaz up Jannah without the appointment on Nusuk app.you can also use the same app to make a reservation for Umrah although nobody checks it for Umrah purposes. The ground floor tawaf is only allowed for those performing Umrah ( in Ihram). Voluntary (nafl) tawafs can only be done on first floor

Asalamualaikum you will need to download new Nusak app which has replaced this.
For that you need to have your visa number to register & book your slots for Rawdah and Umrah slots.
