Just saw this on TV (I think ARY or Express). They showed images of him in jail, hiding his face. Not sure which exam this was, but I never knew cheating on exams was that serious an offence.

That sounds harsh, Isn't it enough to throw cheaters out of the school or ban them for a certain period of time?

More drama, great.
Even when we don't play cricket our country's indiscipline is spoiling our name.

Why not throw the other leeches such as Babar Awan and Rehman Malik into jail whilst they are at it or is it because they are an exception to the law ?

Its the first time i have heard about a cheater (in an exam of all things) being taken away by the police...............any law expert here knows whether its withing the polices rights to do so?

In USA college/university football players are also "pushed" into passing the exams so that they could be part of the team

Ufff...this is stupid.

Afridi-ball biting
Asif-drugs
Malik-shaadi issue
Akhtar-warts
Younis-some or the other
Yousuf-team disunity
Rana-indiscipline

now Nasir Jamshed cheating??..Taubaa

Really?? This is a rubbish story, who cares if he cheated during an exam. Shouldn't affect his cricketing credentials in the slightest.

Swann got arrested in England, the Laws in pakistan are very different
If there is a law in Pakistan that you go to jail for cheating in EXAM, then I am afraid what would the law say for defrauding the country? Chop off head if proven? Such law is farce.

Who here (raised in the subcontinent) can say he/she has never cheated on a test? A peek, writing on desks, starting before the exam time starts.... etc.

That law is just a mockery because those who are implementing it must have done it as well once or more.

Thats the pakistan Law for you, its corrupt

This is awful awful news. What kind of law is this? I feel really bad for the kid, especially after seeing how the media was harassing him in prison! Makes my blood boil!! I have never heard of this law. Everyone in Pakistan cheats from what I hear. He probably didn't bribe his teachers.

The more you follow the news in Pakistan, the more you lose hope in the country.

a) They are Zardari's cronies for a start and qualified politicians who do deserve a role in the cabinet are frozen out.

b) Rehman Malik has done nothing for the country whatsoever apart from rhetoric and blaming all of our faults including Balochistan on India and our land is still a wreck despite his ''Interior Ministering'.
Also he has several corruption charges against his name and should have never had a role in politics.

c)Babar Awan has been blocking the course of justice by his constant interference by not passing on the papers to Switzerland regarding the re-opened NRO cases. and creating several hurdles.

Now cheating in an exam pales in comparison to these jerks.

going to friggin' jail for cheating on an exam?!

He must have taken something with him,They dont punish without any proof.

Since when do u get arrested for cheatin in a exam???

Pakistan is kinda late with the April Phool jokings :inzi

Update from Geo Super: Jamshed says he wasn't cheating, he was trying to help out someone sitting in the back of the classroom. Also said the issue's been overhyped by the media and isn't that big a deal, and he will be released soon.

i wonder if he will be battered

I think there were three suicide bombings in Pakistan today. And where were the police? Busy throwing a kid in jail for allegedly cheating on an exam. The country slips backwards with each passing day and, unless something is done, it may slip so far backwards that it ceases to exist altogether.

And did I not read somewhere that a certain former Pakistani minister had a 'fake degree'? Why is he not in jail?

The media just needs a story. There are tens of guys who are caught every day while cheating. The police wants to show efficiency as well that they are stopping cheating :))

But I have never heard that you can be put in hail for cheating. You get in jail if you are sitting for some one else but if you are just cheating, you are failed and banned up to 3 years for sitting in exam.

Dunno why the police was involved in the first place, this could have been kept quiet.

Although he might decide to play a trick with the PCB and retire before the unban him.

Well when you have role models like cheater Afridi ....

Firstly, I am pleasantly surprised that ONE Of our cricketers is actually taking the time to work on his education.

Secondly - what is the actual crime?

I would add that it is pleasantly surprising that he is actually sitting the exam and that he hasnt paid a few hundred rupees for the certificate like so many millions do in Pakistan!

:)) :))

Me too..In a country where you can go over the speed limit and just pay off the traffic cop, carry guns without licenses, pay little taxes by bribing the tax man and pretty much get away with everything, including obtaining a goverment position by lying about your qualifications, and yet somehow imprison a young man for cheating in an exam???

We dont put murderers behind bars, but instead prefer putting people behind bars for the most irrelevant of things.

shocking , i'm thinking what kind of a college would hand over the kid to the police ! and for what? cheating ?? shame

Nasir Jamshed on bail after arrest for cheating in exam

Nasir Jamshed, the Pakistan opening batsman, has been released on bail after being arrested for cheating during a school exam. He was arrested on Monday and released by the court on a surety of Rupees 20,000 ($235).

A senior police official, Haider Ashraf, said in Lahore that Jamshed was caught "red-handed" on Monday during a ninth-grade English exam that would help him pass higher secondary school.

Jamshed, 20, played the last of his 12 one-day internationals against Sri Lanka at Dambulla last August. A left-handed opening batsman, he has 353 runs at an average of 35.30.

He was not among the 37 cricketers awarded a central contract last month by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

If it was an english exam you can't really blame him, maybe he just wanted to put himself in future contention for captaincy. :butt

BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he needs to go back to jail on the account of his batting

What a silly bump!

Everyone makes mistakes and this wasn't extreme enough to put him in jail either, in reality it would result in expulsion from the institute he was studying in.

Also, you do realise jails are filled with murderers and what not?

Lol, he is making same face that he makes when he drops a catch.
