Are Pakistani players the most self centred, filled with an air of entitlement?

Sorry for the specific generalization term when referring to Pakistanis but I believe this thread is highly necessary. Sorry to say but Younis Khan has absolutely embarrassed the nation with his latest video. If one of Pakistan’s greatest Test match batsmen can make a video in which he addresses himself by using his name/brand and says that staying in the arrangement by PCB is below ‘Younis Khan’, it just goes to show that players like Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Afridi, Shahzad and who knows how many more are completely following a Pakistani trend of self imposing their supposed superiority upon the fans.

Ridiculous! There are much, much bigger names in world cricket around the world that would show more class in this situation instead of making this a national issue by posting on social media. Im not saying that the PCB did the right thing by not making proper arrangements, but no way should a supposed legend of Pakistan cricket have to resort to such an atrocious display of self importance and entitlement. What message is he giving to the youngsters here? Not just Younis Khan, this rubbish is becoming more and more apparent. Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, at times Shoaib Akhtar. You can bet your house that others will follow in the future, these guys are seriously so full of themselves!

My message to Younis Khan is this. Think about the millions of soldiers that are defending your beloved nation, when they fight or serve their country they will never post on Facebook or Instagram so that the world should know they are serving their country. When they get no sleep whatsoever, or have to spend nights in difficult conditions because of the situation they are thrusted into, they do not complain or run away because they have not been treated with respect.

Grow up! And grow up All Pakistani players who think the nation owes them something. It is the fans, the nation that makes you what you are.

It's due to lack of education and a poverty stricken upbringing. Almost the root cause of ALL problems in the world but particularly the actions of Pakistani cricketers.

U need to keep him away from the coaching role if his personality is like this, especially young players this guy got huge Ego which I think will not help young and upcoming players although his cricketing skills wise he is good, u guys need to find a guy in the mould of dravid for youngster to learn about cricketing skills and most importantly shape his personality in cricketing circle

I can only imagine the day when Younis Khan is the national coach and Umar Akmal revolts against him resulting in the both of them making statements against each other on tv.

With Umar Akmal saying things like “Younis Bhai has disrespected me and the whole nation” and then Younis replying with “Younis Khan will commit suicide if they allow Umar back to team”.

The last part made me laugh. That scenario would be a journalists' dream.

Yes unfortunately they are. Name me one star player who didn't have any issues in last 20-25 years?
And no please no Misbah who was a selfish player and kept hogging to youngsters' spots both in international and PSL/domestics even though he is almost 45 now. Just didn't admit that his time was up and there were/are better players than him.

Even Pakistanis as Nation have this problem. We are nice, v.helping and milansaar people but unfortunately Pakistan mai kam he log apko truly humble milain gai. Most people who achieve something think they are better than others and cant just admit that they might be wrong. And i don't think lack of education is the reason. Have seen many educated people with a big ego. Instead as in Aristotle's words: "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all".

Highly unprofessional and pathetic of NCA to treat a person they themselves have invited and given him a room of a management staff who was not aware that his room was given to Younis Khan. Instead of this the NCA could've accomodated former test player in a hotel and ask him to come back tomorrow. Treating your own players and putting them in a room is such a stupid and unprofessional thing to do. REquest the OP to check the budget of NCA, and shame on them.

Dissing the players that have achieved most for Pakistan Cricket is fashionable on PP.

YK has had a history though. The way he forced the selectors to take him to the 2015 world cup hasn’t gone down well with a lot of Pakistani fans.

It doesn't offset what he has done for Pakistan Cricket. I admit he's a drama queen but he's done more for the country than any poster on PP.

Legit great and arguably the best test batsman from Pakistan but this is about credibility and not accomplishments.

That comparison is flawed. You cannot compare a cricketers with casual watchers or fans. Everyone has a right to criticize.

Nobody is above criticism no matter he/she has done for Pakistan cricket or Pakistan in general. This mentality is what turns mere mortals into Gods.

So instead he deserves insults because he didn't want to stay in someones room after being invited? This issue is being blown up when YK isn't really in the wrong here. Maybe he shouldn't have posted a video...but what he went through was not right as well.

That's the whole point. He went about showing how badly he was treated and referring to himself in the third person as if he some God walking among mere mortals. Whether he was invited or not doesn't make a difference. A better man would have tried to resolve the issue without whining, referring to himself in the third person and opening cupboards for all to see on the internet.

Akram, Sakline Mustak, Misbah........ These guys have achieved a lot in their career but still they r some of the most humble cricketers in world cricket.

That's the exact same logic that people used to shut anyone who questions the military down. It's downright dangerous to lack accountability whoever it is.

I hope that Younis Khan never get's close to a coaching role as it's clear that his attitude stinks. And this is from a person who absolutely loves Younis as a test match batsman.

I would not say that all Pakistani cricketers are self-centred. There are a few who fall into the category of "****" and Younis Khan is one of them.

A lack a of education and not having a worldly cultural upbringing.

A lot of these cricketers come from families that barely travelled outside Pakistan or even read a book. I'm far from classist however families that have a reading culture a very different from ones that don't.

Is it really that big a deal? He was given someone else’s room?

There’s people starving in our country. Get a grip

Younis Khan definitely can be an egotistical self-centered snob but that doesn't mean he wasn't good at what he did, which was playing cricket. The main reason he is such a polarising character is because of comments and shenanigans like this one. Conversely, players like Misbah are anything but self-centred and the matter in which he lead Pakistan throughout his tenure is something he deserves much more respect for than he currently gets.
