I have a feeling that these 2 can serve England for long. From what I have seen of Tom he is a good bowler and Sam can swing it to the right hander as well. Plus a good batter

Yes. Hopefully sam Curran also make it to 2019 worldcup squad. Overall as an allrounder sam Curran is more valuable player across formats.
But Tom Curran considered best white ball bowler in England.

Both have to build up physically and add pace.
Sam will probably take over Willey's ODI/T20 slot soon
Tom seems decent ODI bowling prospect.

Currently both are trundlers who can do well in favourable conditions but will be unthreatening outside Eng

His batting is good. But he has this weakness that Umesh exposed later on. Everyone will know what to bowl to him. His bowlng is one dimensional somewhat. Conditions suited him. Let us see.

Tom took a 5-er in AUS in an odi match.

The left hander has pretty much single handedly kept and might even win his team this game for England.

Sam is such a quality bowler. I was going to open a thread on him just now but then noticed a thread is already there.

His bowling style is traditional and aesthetic coupled with ability to move the new ball and then toe crushing yorkers in the middle (the one to Pandaya was just beautiful). Not to mention the fact that he just hit his debut 50 which saved England in the second innings. Total fighter. I will be keeping any eye on this lad. Top top prospect.

Man ....howmgood would Zimbabwe be if all these players had actually just stuck around. It is a shame that political turmoil is preventing us from playing a great cricket team.

Zim had some very good players in 90s..but for a small country with so much problems its difficult to sustain.

Pace bowler Tom Curran and his all-rounder brother Sam say it would be a "dream" to play in the same England Test team.

Tom, 25, played his two Tests on the 2017-18 Ashes tour, before 21-year-old Sam won the first of his 17 caps.

The Surrey pair have played three one-day internationals and four Twenty20s together.

"It would be amazing to play Tests with Sam. That’s definitely a huge ambition of ours," said Tom.

Left-arm seamer Sam is a regular member of England's Test squads, while the bulk of Tom's international cricket has been in limited-overs matches - he was part of the squad that won the World Cup last July.

The last brothers to play in the same England Test side were Surrey's Adam and Ben Hollioake in 1997.

"The dream is to be playing all three formats together," said Sam. "We have played a couple of games together in the one-day format and hopefully as the years go on we'll become regulars in all three formats.

"Any game you play for England is obviously a great privilege, but playing with your brother or a member of your family gives it that extra special feeling."

Tom's exposure to Test cricket came during England's 4-0 series defeat in Australia, since when he has played only six first-class matches because of his white-ball commitments.

"I’ve definitely got huge Test ambitions still," he said. "Without playing domestic red-ball championship cricket it is hard.

"Now it’s trying to get that balance between white- and red-ball cricket and developing my skills and awaiting my chance."

Tom and Sam are the sons of former Northamptonshire and Zimbabwe all-rounder Kevin Curran. A third brother, batsman Ben, currently plays for Northants.

The postponement of the Indian Premier League, which is set to be extended further after India's coronavirus lockdown was extended until 3 May, is denying Tom and Sam of the opportunity to compete against each other.

Sam was set to link up with MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings, while Tom was due to play alongside England's Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler for the Rajasthan Royals.

"There has been some talk about the IPL in terms of scheduling later in the year, but no-one knows," said Sam. "It might happen this year; it might be cancelled.

"Hopefully I will play against Tom, hit him everywhere and then hit his stumps."

There will be no cricket in England until at least 28 May and one possibility for its return would be to be play major matches behind closed doors.

"I'm sure every sportsman would love to be playing now, whether it is with fans or not," said Sam. "I definitely wouldn’t mind playing behind closed because we'll be playing a game that we love."

Tom added: "Playing internationals behind closed doors will be a strange thing, but at least there would be some sport on TV for people.

"Once it's all safe and we're abiding with government guidelines, whatever decisions are made for us as sportsmen to do, I'm sure everyone will be getting amongst it. I'm very excited to get back out there, whenever that might be."

KFC Big Bash League Statement

December 21, 2023

Sydney Sixers player Tom Curran has been charged with a Level 3 offence under the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct following his side’s KFC BBL|13 match against the Hobart Hurricanes on December 11.

Curran was charged by the Match Referee under Article 2.17 of the Code of Conduct for intimidation or attempted intimidation of an Umpire, Match Referee or Medical Personnel whether by language or conduct (including gestures) during a Match. The incident took place during the team’s pre-match warm-up.

The Commissioner found:

Prior to the commencement of the Match Curran completed a practice run up in which he ran onto part of the pitch;
Curran was verbally instructed by the Umpire not to run on to the pitch;

Following this, Curran moved to the opposite end of the pitch to complete another practice run up;

The Umpire took position next to the stumps, blocking Curran from approaching the pitch and gestured to Curran to move away from the pitch;

Curran was seen in the footage gesturing to the Umpire to move away from the pitch;

Curran then attempted to perform a practice run up and run at pace straight towards the Umpire who stood in the bowling crease facing Curran. The Umpire stepped to his right to avoid the risk of collision.

Curran contested the charge, and the matter was heard by Code of Conduct Commissioner, Adrian Anderson. The Commissioner found that Curran committed the offence and imposed a penalty of four suspension points, equating to four KFC BBL matches.

Ben Curran made is debut for Zimbabwe some days ago. Would be fun if they played against each other.
