Today i wanted to explore some new Indian tracks after a long time. It was amazing to see that every other song i decided to play from a playlist had Arijit Singh's voice associated to it.
 
Just heard his new song Ashq Na Ho from Holiday and the track was instantly put on repeat mode.
Brilliantly sung, composed and arranged, beautiful lyrics. Reminded me of Rahman's tunes of 90's.
 
Saw him first in Fame Gurukul back in 2005. Judges used to ask him to bring that x-factor in his singing. Qazi Tauqeer won that show. But look at how Arijit Singh has progressed. Happy for him.

 
He is a great singer but he can't sing Atif Aslam's songs live on stage. His voice was gone missing.
 
Brilliant singer.

Looking forward to seeing him in concert later this year.
 
Arijit Singh may be the champion of the friendzone songs but Atif Aslam will always remain the prince of Ashiqui and the favourite of all stud lover boys who never quit in love.

Though the king is only one and his name is Kumar Sanu.
 
Has a very soulful and soothing voice, didn't watch Aashiqui but the soundtrack is great.
 
Very good singer. The fact that he keeps doing great work despite Salman Khan being againist him tells you how good he is.
 
Arijit Singh is a once in a generation phenomenon.

Each and every song of his has distinct vocals to it and you can't always say that the same guy has sung it e.g. Kabhi jo badal barse and Nashe si chad gayi.

My fav Indian singer nowadays and probably for many years to come.

Arijit Singh ‘insulted’ Salman Khan at an awards night when he told him that his hosting skills put him to sleep while receiving award.
Then arijit publicly apologized on a social media since then Salman neglecting him.
 
The amount of garbage Bollywood produces in terms of music - this guy has been a breath of fresh air.
 
Singing for Salman Khan is not a big deal, it worked in Arijits favor,not only did he get positive publicity but also didn't get stereotyped as "gharam chai ki pyaali ho" types.
 
I'm somehow still a lil biased towards to Mohit felt he went next level with ROCKSTAR, although Arijit is excellent as well , apparently his live shows are very good.

Any one who goes against Salman had to struggle in Bollywood.(Vivek Oberoi was the prime example)

Yes those days are over, John Abraham wasn't in good books of SALMAN either didn't mean he didn't, Vivek never improved as an actor and ppl felt he was childish.

There is no other example other than him, but ones who had issue with Salman are many from SRK TO Aish to , John to Sanjay Leela.

SRK Aish are too big for even Salman.

He tried to ruin Abhishek Bachan's career. Called up people not to sign him. Ultimately Amitabh had to call up his friends like Ambanis,Sahara, Maha CM etc and Salman was told point blank to stay away from the Bacchans or face consequence himself.

Unfortunately vivek had no such supporter.

That is a good point. For most people in Bollywood, if you mess with Salman, even if you are in the right, it's the equivalent of career suicide. Just look at Vivek Oberoi.

So Vivek is the only one, and Vivek also came out as cringeworthy, even after shootout he couldn't keep his head down and work.

Salman isn't as big as say Karan Johar or Aditya Chopra, they not only successfully launch actors but also directors.
 
I have heard his work and just can't see what the hype is about. I think he is very ordinary - is this really what our friends on the other side of the border are listening to these days?!
 
He is good . Can sing all types of songs But I still prefer singers like KK or Mohammed Irfan.

The thread wasn't started from this side of the border, he might not be up therewith the greats or the best but 'very ordinary' defn not.

Great singer in his comfort zone. But variety is what lacking in my opinion. His all songs have similar melody.

nope not really into english music either.I didn't read all posts.I was just generally asking is he a some kind of star cause he has a thread of appreciation here which got me intriguing.
 
So I went to his concert at Wembley Arena last Saturday.

It was a complete sellout of 12,500 and the atmosphere was great.

The concert started right on time at 7pm which is a rarity for an Asian concert.

Arijit was excellent. He sang non-stop from 7 to 8.25 and then 8.50 to 10.10. He sang most of his hits and the crowd loved it.

The musicians with him were absolutely superb and the whole show was very enjoyable.

Only criticism would be that in the first half of the concert, the music was drowning out his voice, but they sorted that out in the second half of the concert.

Highly recommend seeing him live if you get the chance.

This is exactly what I feel when I listen to his compilation. So far there are only handful songs of his I enjoy listening. Sanam Re and Ashqui.
 
It is amazing how Versatile his voice is he can perfectly sing Hardcore Romantic songs to emotional breakup songs to Funny Dance numbers like Tera Dhyaan kidhar hai, Galti se mistake, Main tera Boyfriend, Breakup song, shanivaar raati etc

Phir Mohobat has something outrageous about it.
 
recently Pal from Jalebi, Ahista from Laila Majnoo and naina banjaree from patakha are awesome

I find it very monotonous and long tbh. They need to cut down on song duration and its too one-dimensional. Sufi, ghazal etc

The guy just doesn’t do interviews, he is the only guy Sallu Bhai tried to bully and it backfired.

Yeah, but I guess that is it’s specialty.

Coke Studio has tried different styles of music genres and they have failed miserably.

Hopefully that remains because he is one of the few that has crossed the 5 year fame deadline nowadays for Bollywood music singers.

Although it seems his aim is to be a film director, he is making some low budget Indie movie lol.

Has kept Hindi music ticking, it helps when your father is a Sikh and Mother bengali.. best of two worlds with classic music loving maternal family.
 
Arijit Singh's time is gone?

None of Arijit new releases created the impact while jubin songs gets trending , Arijit became overnight star with aashique 2 during 2013 , and was given many songs after that, but since 2019 he was not singing much and now with 2022 his new songs are not popular hits
