"I definitely loved my performance in this game as this was my first MoM as a bowler, and this is something I had always wanted to do"

"We put a good score on the board today as we knew conditions will get tougher for the batsmen to score against spinner; At the end of the day, we executed our skills very well as a bowling unit. Shadab bowled very well and our pacers, back up the spinners very well; Hassan Ali's overs and Shaheen's last over really helped us in winning this game"

"Having been here in the Caribbean many times, I know that its tough to play against the spinners on these pitches; If you hit the right line and length as a spinner, its always difficult as a batsman to take risks here; As a spinner you can go for runs or get a wicket but I backed myself and tried to execute my skills today and that really worked for me"

"I feel a bit more comfortable when I bowl to left-handers, because I feel confident and sometimes left-handers feel more pressure when batting against me but it really is down to bowling the right lengths and getting the best result"

"As bowler this is my first MoM so I will remember it for the rest of my life; We were short of about 10-15 runs from the target that we had planned to set for the opposition as we wanted to score 170+ on this track but somehow we could not manage it; But I am glad that our captain backed our bowling unit and myself"

"I am very happy that I got a chance to bowl against left-handers and I very happy to perform against the West Indies, especially when we know that they have some big-hitters in their line-up but I hit the right areas and helped Pakistan win this game"

"Our morale is high but we have to work a bit more on our batting and strengthen execution of our plans which we can do, and we are capable of scoring 180+ on these pitches; I am convinced that we will come back tomorrow with better planning and seal the series in our name"

I hope you will always remember for the rest of your life that how helpful this pitch was for the bowlers.
Your bowling was only half good, rest was all the magic of the pitch.

I Hope today's not Majid Khan's birthday.

Hafeez is still one of the nest T20 players available in Pakistan. He is valuable because he can contribute with both bat and ball. Surprisingly not many Pakistani fans like him.

Thier was no magic on the pitch.

Hafeez haters are dumb, end of. The guy has won us many games both with bat and ball but they only remember his failures. They don’t seem to understand that, it’s either Hafeez or someone like Faheem Ashraf. There’s no better alternative to Hafeez.

Unfortunately had to miss the match, how did his action look? I hope he can bowl in the WC, we need him!

I dont remember when was the last time I saw a any spinnee or bowler for that matter putting such a squeeze on batsmen.

This was historic plus his bowling opens up more choice to pak. Well done prof

Give credit where it's due. If this pitch was so helpful why didn't any other bowler have similar or even close figures

Hafeez is in the team as a batman and he has been a failure for long time now. One fluke bowling performance should not be reason to keep him in the team. And, you never know when will he be banned again from bowling.

As much as I want us to win the series against WI, I think we should save Hafeez for the WC. If he gets called we will be scrambling for a spin option

Are you thinking what I am thinking - about his action?

I would definitely take him in team over bits and pieces players like of shadab imad nawaz faheem.
He should play as an all rounder and bat at 6 or 7.

If Hafeez can bowl like this, he is dead cert for World Cup.

However, extremely dangerous to rely on him for World Cup. It will upset Pakistan's balance no end when he gets called for chucking.

I hope his action was cleaner

Oh well if this is what cricket has been reduced to, I’ll have to start following another sport - what has happened to the game ,
I mean now bowlers get man of match awards for 1-wicket hauls and keeping it tight ?

Thanks but no thanks, I’ll stick to the 80s and 90s cricket on YouTube and in my memories , back in the day when there were proper bowlers who had to rip apart batting line ups to win Man of Match awards.

Much as I cannot stand his batting only conceding 6 runs in 4 overs against a gun west indies T20 outfit is some feat.

Are you thinking what I am thinking - about his action?

His action looked fine to the naked eye. He was getting good spin on this pitch, but his main weapon was flight and accuracy. He's a very clever bowler. I saw some chucker comments in the match thread from one or two neighbourly sources, but seemed mostly sour grapes to me. But seeing as who controls the ICC we might get extensive video analysis of this match I am guessing.

I'm sure there will be people out there who will be looking very closely at his action and dropping hints to the authorities.

I think he will get called this series. The problem is his straighter one, it's almost impossible to get that kind of zip off the wicket with a clean action. Because the left handers are always wary of the straighter one, his offspinner becomes that much more effective.

Its hard to tell from the TV screen but his action looked ok. I got a bit worried as the ball that he got the wicket with looked like a doosra but they never really showed his action again in the slowmo replay.

It was described as the straighter ball, and no one really mentioned anything about his action during the game, but as I said, there were some comments from neighbourly posters on the match thread.

While most wouldn't give it a second thought, you do have to remember some countries treat cricket as it's more important than life or death, so can imagine there'll be some frantic requests for video analysis going on in some cricket headquarters.

I would not bowl him now til the world cup even if that means we loose this series and next

If anyone thinks we can replace this man then they are fools

What a complete over reaction . One good bowling spell and he is irreplaceable. Let’s just forget that he averages 10 this year with the bat, and let’s also forget that he averages 20 in 5 t20 world cups with 1 50 and a SR of 105 and let’s also forget that he never turns up when the pressure is on . Bravo !

If hafeez doesn't bowl who will be the 6th bowling option hafeez is vital for the balance of the team

He doesn’t bowl in countries where he will be called for chucking but starts to bowl in WI when he can’t contribute with the bat.

He knows how to keep his place in the team. With quality of youngsters coming through for Pakistan and with no mystery spinners in their pocket , he can play for the time until they find one young reliable spinner for all formats.

If Hafeez is not performing as a batsman, drop him for someone else. At 43 and much slower reflexes, he will not going to get back to his old batting form. We should not be fooled by his one fluke performance. Remember, once a chucker, always a chucker. Its just a matter of time he is banned from bowling, 10th time in his career.

If he bowl full ovee in this series ,he might be ban again . some of his delivery looks suspicious .

If he can't score runs, he should be dropped.

His bowling is lottery, can be called any moment.

They have a couple of Mistory spinners in the u19s but obvious won't get a chance soon

Hafeez.

The most impactful and utility player in the Pakistan T20 team.

Save him for the World T20, though. We'll badly need him!

Regardless of pitch conditions its up to the bowlers to use their skill set exploit those conditions.
If that was the case then that means any bowler could have had success

Getting Jittery and looking for options to hide Hafeez from bowling till the starting of the world cup show how people are ready to have an unfair advantage even at the cost of legitimate cricket. This thread is funny. If we are confident of his bowling, we would be expecting him to bowl more and get ready for the wc.

Mohammad Hafeez:

"Whilst three of the matches of the series could not be completed due to rain, I am pleased to say that we we did well in the match that was played fully and won that game"

"We also played good cricket in the T20 series against England"

"Winning the T20I series against the West Indies will boost our confidence and we must enjoy this victory"

"I have never been a regular bowler but whenever I do bowl, I always bowl with confidence"

"I had been waiting for an opportunity to bowl for a long time and and when that chance came, I took advantage of the opportunity"

"Mohammad Wasim Jr. has shown his skills during the T20I series"

"I always say that we should give ample opportunities to new players when the opportunity arises for that and I am happy to say that , Mohammad Wasim Jr. was given a full chance to perform in this series"

If there was magic then why only for hafeez. Where were other bowlers.

The best thing Pakistan team management would do is to not get fooled by Hafeez’s occasional bowling heroics.

We need a proper 6th bowler and M Wasim is your man to bat at no.6 instead of the so called power hitters like Sohaib & Azam.

What do you mean by a proper 6th bowler. Normally a team comprises of 4 proper bowlers and 1-2 allrounders. And if still needed than part timers are used. There is no need to have a proper 6th bowler in any team.

Yes and Imad Wasim is that allrounder the team needs.

Hafeez cannot be relied upon as a bowler who opens the bowling attack on true bounce pitches. I can see him conceding a 30 run over in a crucial WC game.
