Hi all,
I was wondering which company makes better bats in terms of pressing ping, balance, quality of handle, etc. I was going to buy a custom made one, so wanted to be sure which brand was better?

y these 2 brands only?

Because I wanted to get a custom made bat for under $300. I have heard good things about these two brands. I asked BAS if they could make me a bat but they didn't reply. If you can Sidney can you please suggest any other brands that can make me a custom made bat?

so you are in the US?
also, when you say customised what you got in mind exactly and how flexible are you on your specs?

AS will make a custom made vx-100 for you in that price range. Talk to Mr. Khalid, send him an email from their website and provide with your specs.

I live In Australia, I am really specific on the specs. Want a custom bat to the specs of a certain cricket bat. How about SS I have heard that they can make custom made bats

i personaly would never risk asking a Pakistani manufacturer for a custom bat if you are fussy about our specs and they often are inconsistent.

what exactly are your specs? i can point you n the right direction once i know.

SS are too expensive for your price range. you need to stay clear of top brands if you are on a budget but intead look for a custom bat but one that is made to a good standard

big bat there vincent. recent years i have moved away from huge edges and go for absolute full profile with no concaving at all. i found 9 times out of 1 the big bats i got from subcontinent were over dried as oppose to low density clefts so gratualy less keen on overdried willow. look of a big bat still makes my mouth water tho! lo

SS Won't reply to web inquiries. I called them once, and spoke to Jatin (the owner) but they aren't very much inclined to make custom made for general public but u can still try.

I think the bat above posted by James Vincent, looks good for its weight and size.

See if it's close to your specs and budget?

SS do offer custom service but you need to consider price and how sure you can be you will get what you after so i would advice that you look at actual bats people have in stock and request pics and im sure you can find something similar if not identical to your specs

I paid eclipse all sports a visit last week and I picked up a plain pro shape cricket bat same shape as kohli's cricket bat. He had the tons players edition ton reserve edition and sanagakarra players edition i was so close to getting the sangakarra bat but went for the plain pro which I fell in love with full profile thick edges light weight excellent balance and pick up awesome ping. he is currently knocking it in for me as well as repairing my old bat. Really can not wait to get it back. awesome service hanif is a top guy I would highly recommend.

As mentioned above, I'd also steer clear of over dried clefts for my bats. It's better in the run to buy a bat made from a low density cleft even if it costs more initially.Over time you will get to reap the rewards.

Whar about Boom Boom Bats arent they made in the UK

Yeah they crack very easily, what about 40mm edge and 65mm+ spine height? could a bat like this be over-dried?

My bat is a custom made 666.

You will find that many bat manufacturers that claim and show big edges are not being completely honest when they say the weight so based on that they would be standard clefts that weight 2oz plus when completed.

Low Density clefts however are naturally light and real actual weights exist from the off.

low density clefts are very rare! which country is this bat made? if in the UK then yes that is believable otherwise it is very very likely it is overdired cleft which is not the end of the world but the big specs come a small (or some would say big) price of dry willow

shoulders thin on that bat, definately a big concern if it is overdried but big bat no doubt

@ Mrcricket321, this is one of my personal bats which is available for sale.

@ Sidney, indeed you are correct that LDC's are extremely rare but fortunately I've a contact that looks after me in the UK who ships the clefts for me to Asia where bats are made.

yes, heard plenty of good stuff about hanif. i enjoy his video reviews too and a fair few mates bought bats of him as his prices are good but more so he has the best of all major sub continent brands and think he is routinely stocking some UK brands now too. i my self have got both my H4L cutom bats through him. i posted reviews recently on this forum. good bats and a top guy

James Vincent. so u get the clefts shipped to you in asia? then you get them made there? sorry are you a manufaturer and or seller?

I'm in Bangkok, Thailand but I get my personal bats made in the sub continent. I'm more of a collector of bats and I do from time to time move some on when I like to test a new or old bat profile.

Key for me is the quality of willow and craftsmanship.

cool.
for me personaly im put off with concaving and thin shoulders but you got a big bat there. should get you plenty runs. enjoy :-)

Personally Sidney I look at my bats as a whole unit and not simply a blade with a handle so I have handles made for me that compliment each other.

Again and I cannot stress this enough, pay that little bit extra and you will be rewarded time and time again.

agree, worth paying that bit extra if needed as the complete package must work together

I bought a SS custom made bat on Virat Kohli bat specs from SS last year. I have posted pictures of the bat on the forum.
I told them then that I might by one for next season and they have emailed me asking if I want another bat for the season coming up. I asked them if they could make amother custom made bat on the specs I want and they agreed they can do that. But I haven't yet decided to go ahead. But the bat I got from SS last year is easily the best bat I have ever owned. Big profile bat but balance and pick up is exceptional and ping is just amazing; best pinging bat I have had.

How About Boom Boom Bats? Anybody? Are the any good?

What About Crictech? Grade 1 EW Bat costs $350 but he said that he will reduce the original price by $40. Has anyone heard about them? Are they any good?

That is serious money for an unknown brand, is the quoted price including postage charges ?

But then isn't your own bat that u posted above falls in the same category?

I would want to buy it for testing purposes, I wish if the price was better.

I'm pretty much sure that my bat has over 25 years of cricket bat making knowledge behind it.

What would you be testing FreeBird ? My patience ? lol

Hi James just wondering how you know so much about the 666 brand? Also have you heard of a brand called lekka? They used to make a bat called the TPX 666 this was a big bat, there is a topic on custom bats forum. Is this made by the same company?

Is the 666 cricket bat made in the Uk or made out in india?

Thank you
regards madaboutcricket1985

Yes I've heard of Lekka, who hasn't ?!?

To my knowledge only 2 maybe 3 factories can make bats the size of the 666 TPX.

The key is being able to acquire low density clefts in good volumes.

I bought a Lekka RDX Mega-X directly from the manufacture a few years ago.
It looked pretty good but I never played with it. Sold it on Ebay and got more than what I had paid for.

I didn't buy a Lekka again.

Sorry, it was not direct from the factory but from personal collection of Pete Hosk - you know who that is.

People have given good reviews on SIDS, they look cool and the guy sends pictures before sending it to you. Never bought a bat from him though. I personally would love to have a custom made Malik MB limited edition. I got them cheap for $248 couple of years ago from Cricmart. The bat is meaty, weights 2.10(feels much heavier) but the ping is amazing and the ball flies off like a rocket. Unfortunately im a tail-ender so I mostly put them to use in the nets.
