After a very credible draw largely down to some great performances from Wahab Riaz, Azhar Ali and Umar Akmal, Pakistan "A" face another stern test against Australia "A".

The match starts in around 5 hours time.

How come you can forget Sarfaraz ahmed contribution Saj bahi.

56 in first inning and 50* in 2nd. He is doing very well as a WK/Batsman.

Hope Umar amin will perform in this match.

fahad iqbal should be rested as navid too and fahad masood and ghumman should be included.....i am not in favor of hafiz either, he should give his spot to any other one.....

Saj you missed Sarfraz Ahmad's contributions. Scored 56 in 1st inning; 50 notout in 2nd inning. Took 5 catches in 1st inning; 3 catches in 2nd inning. This is excellent performance.

So Khalid Latif who scored total 28 runs (17 and 11) and took 1 catch is a failure.
Mohammad Hafeez who scored total 31 runs (0 and 31), took 2 wickets (1 and 1) and took 2 catches is a failure.
But Umar Amin who scored total 25 runs (25 and 0) is not a failure.

Very fuzzy logic.

Umar Amin needs to get some form back. Atleast a half centuary will give him some confidence.. And i want Umar Akmal to blast another 100 tomorrow inshallah...

shehrayar ghani and azeem ghumman deserve a go

Talha bowled well but chances were dropped off his bowling

Naved arif did a creditable stuart clarke esque containing role as first change

what time is match starting uk time? in how many hours time?

Want to see another good performance from the younger guys like Umer & Sarfraz,I like umer aggression

'A' series on the line

CRAIG STACK

July 3rd, 2009

AUSTRALIA A cricket captain Cameron White is look ing for more of the same from his men when the second and final 'test' with Pakistan A begins in Townsville today.

Both teams can clinch the series after the opening match finished in a draw on Monday, with Pakistan A reaching 5-207 after being set 318 to win following an Australia A declaration.

Pakistan A batsmen Umar Akmal (100 not out) and Sarfraz Ahmed (50 not) thwarted Australia A's victory bid after the visitors had looked shaky at 3-31, 4-77 and 5-109.

White believed Australia A had done most things right over the four days.

PAKISTAN A DIGS IN FOR DRAW

"Obviously the first game was a pretty good match, a pretty hard-fought contest, I think we were pretty close to sort of cracking them," White said.

"On the first morning after losing the toss and being sent in, I think our openers (Ryan Broad and Michael Klinger) did really well to get through the first hour and set us up from there.

"I think we were in control for four days, hopefully we can start off pretty well and pick up from where we left off."

White said the chance of a series win was strong motivation.

"Of course, we always try to win every game we play," he said.

"I think if we had bowled them out slightly earlier in the first innings last time, it would have given us more time to dismiss them in the second innings.

"Hopefully we can give ourselves more time to bowl them out or chase down some runs."

Tasmania allrounder Luke Butterworth has this week replaced injured New South Wales fast bowler Burt Cockley in the Australia A squad.

White said the Australia A team had been due to be finalised after national selector Jamie Cox arrived in Townsville late yesterday.

White was impressed by the Tony Ireland Stadium pitch for the first match and expected a new strip to play similarly.

"That was the first four-day game they'd had on that pitch, I thought it was an excellent pitch really," he said.

"It did a little bit early then stuck together pretty well, this one looks pretty similar.

"I'd expect it to seam around a bit tomorrow, flatten out a bit then hopefully do a little bit for us on the last day."

Play starts at 10am.

SQUADS
Australia A: Cameron White (c), Ryan Broad, Michael Klinger, Callum Ferguson, Adam Voges, Tim Paine, Moises Henriques, Jason Krejza, Clint McKay, Doug Bollinger, Jon Holland, George Bailey, Luke Butterworth.

Let's see if the guys who performed first time can come up with the goods against the aussies who will have prepared a plan B, and see if the guys who failed can turn it around.

That is one weak pace attack, thought they might strengthen it somewhat. Pakistan A definitely have the edge here.

What the hell?

Bollinger recently destroyed our A+ team in one of the ODIs, he is quite quick.

So that is one bowler. Plus 3 medium pacers. 2 of which are all rounders.

Thought you were talking about Mckay and Bollinger in particular.

Yeah I would consider the Pakistan A bowling attack to be stronger.

But each to their own. Peace.

Unchanged team...WTH, Leg Side Tullaa Latif and junior sifarshi bhanja still there

Intentional exclusion of players from Karachi i.e. Shaharyar Ghani and Azeem Ghuman. Way to go Mr. Ilyas.

Runs in and tries to bowl with pace. Strong body action with a lot of the strength coming from the shoulder. Should be able to reverse it as well.

How quick is he? is it too late for him to play for pak?

43-1, CJ Ferguson looking dangerous 17 from 22 balls, 3 boundaries!

Need to get rid of him!

Haven't watched him with speed guns, but I'd guess around 85+

Of course he can still play for Pak. Being with the A team he's obviously in the reckoning.

can he swing it both ways and can he reverse swing it? i think i've seen him bowl good yorkers at death

Conventional out-swinger and like most of our quicks, he reverses it too.

Fahad Masood is 26-ish I believe. I know him from playing International Cricket Captain. he's been in the first class system for a while now. Good player.

Why on earth did they drop Talha?! He didn't do bad, only if our fielders had taken his catches he would have ended up with bag full of wickets. He's our future prospect so should get a chance ahead of anyone else.

b/w Pak-A has started off nicely. They should better win this one. Umar Akmal will score a quick double ton and ll make his elder akmal proud. :akmal

Anyone got a scorecard to teh first test and a one to this one as well?

its sad to see the extras column n the no. of no balls bowled so far, y don't our bowlers concentrate on these bloody no balls :6: :6:

Sad Talha got dropped, maybe the team management felt he was leaking too many runs. Our bowlers have put the Aussies under even more pressure this time.

infact really sad n talha is bit unlucky so far, he bowled well but too many catches dropped of his bowling. This guy needs sum luck. All the best Talha:19:

wow............the only reason i could think of Talha being dropped is him being unlucky...............that's a good reason :ibutt :inti

Aus A in trouble at 6/193

Must be good to bowl first on this wicket it seems.

Karela, i mean Krejza is in now. Pak need to get him out asap. His century in last match saved Aus in my opinion.

Aussies 8 down, 3 balls 2 wickets for pakistan

2009-07-03 16:05
Over 69.1: Hafeez to Henriques, no run, OUT, attempts to flick the ball through the leg side but has missed and is hit in the pads sending the umpires finger up. Aus A are 8/223
2009-07-03 16:02
Over 68.6: Riaz to Krejza, no run, OUT, fires a yorker in and has nailed the stumps sending Krejza back to the shed. Aus A are now 7/223

Mashallah , good performance by the the bowling squad , Talha must be kicking himself for missing this one out.
Lets hope the our batters don't fall short of this score.

Why no Shaun Tait? Have the Aussie A side lost it completely? You need a wicket taker in the line up, someone who can provide the X factor.

Gone , Azhar bold

Over 0.3: Bollinger to Ali, no run, OUT, short pitched delivery and has sprung up and found the edge straight to the slips. Pak A 1/6

check it baby :6: :6:

here we go latif is gone as well, two umars on crease, fingers crossed

39/4

shameful that we left out our two best batsmen Shehryar Ghani and Azeem Ghumman

This is diabolical really, in the practice games we have it on first hand authority from PP interviewees that Ghani and Ghumman shone !

We can see from Cricinfo that Ghani and Ghumman have EXCEPTIONAL first class averages of 50 + !!!

Ghani : http://www.cricinfo.com/pakistandomestic/content/player/327650.html

Ghumman : http://www.cricinfo.com/pakistandomestic/content/player/321352.html

Yet the Pak A team chooses two players with first class avergaes of only 33 !! to lead the batting line up (Latif and Hafeez)

Latif : http://www.cricinfo.com/pakistan/content/player/41046.html

Hafeez : http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/41434.html
This is not ineptitude this is shocking level of corruption, what is wrse in this day and age is that we can see this being done wilfully in front of our eyes but nothing is ever done about it.

seems like brett lee is bowling his reverse swing and wkts are falling left and right
