Australia "A" vs Pakistan "A" | 3rd ODI | Brisbane | 16/07/2009

2009-07-16 09:00:20 Opening the batting for Australia A is Tim Paine and David Warner. Mohammad Talha has the ball for Pakistan A at the Albion Park end.

2009-07-16 08:49:10 Australia A have left out George Bailey and Brett Geeves with Jason Krejza and Shaun Tait in. The home side will be batting in about ten minutes from now.

2009-07-16 08:48:50 Pakistan A has won the toss and chosen to bowl first. They've got Latif back in for Ali at the top of the order and Umar Amin playing his first game in place of Ghumman.

2009-07-16 09:07:15 Over 0.6: Talha to Warner, one run, nudges a quick single to mid off.
2009-07-16 09:06:33 Over 0.5: Talha to Warner, no run, drives and misses again outside off stump.
2009-07-16 09:05:57 Over 0.4: Talha to Warner, no run, drives hard again but misses outside the off stump.
2009-07-16 09:05:12 Over 0.3: Talha to Warner, no run, drives hard but straight to mid off.
2009-07-16 09:04:33 Over 0.2: Talha to Warner, no run, back and defends away behind point.
2009-07-16 09:03:45 Over 0.1: Talha to Warner, wide, slips a full ball down the leg side.
2009-07-16 09:02:25 Over 0.1: Talha to Paine, three runs, drives hard and gets a thick, low edge past second slip.

maybe best to consolidate the Preview thread and Commentary thread?

Over 11.2: Masood to Warner, no run, OUT, coming around the wicket now and it's done the job. Warner a bit cramped maybe, goes for the big pull shot again but has top-edged it and Rehman at deep midwicket takes the easy catch. AUS 1/66
2009-07-16 09:59
Over 11.1: Masood to Warner, SIX, short ball absolutely smacked away hard and flat over midwicket!

I don't understand why Hafeez made Talha and Masood bowl 6 overs on the trot each when we have our best bowler Wahab Riaz available as first change.

Hafeez's captaincy is the same as his batting.

Over 12.3: Talha to Paine, no run, APPEAL, hit on the pad as they shout for LBW. He was a long way down and Umpire Fry said no.

Aus 'A' : 73/1 after 15

Good time to tighten things up and pick up another wicket

2009-07-16 09:02:25 Over 0.1: Talha to Paine, three runs, drives hard and gets a thick, low edge past second slip.
That is like an exceptional catch or a blinder. You cannot count that as a miss even if it was just 2 feet away and required some reflexes or movement. From the commentary looks like player didn't even bother so not a chance for Pakistani cricket or it was really not a chance

you wanted Rehman in. You asked for him too early and he was not ready. If he had started bowling now then he would have been okay

AUS 1/138 (28.3)
Rehman 21 0ff 2.3 overs
Hafeez leading from the front - 27 off 7

:))

As if khabri is on a direct hotline to the Pakistan A camp right now

Khabri is a 420. He does ufone SMS to grounds during cheap times but this ground has no big screen

Painedo has to be yorked LBW now to send a message. 78 off 106. Ferguson 39 off 49
AUS 1/156 (31.2)
1 . 1 1 . 1 | . 4 . 1 . . | 1 1 1 1 4 . | . 1 . 4 1 1 | 1 1

Riaz to Paine, no run, DROPPED, hooked away straight to the man at deep backward square leg and he's dropped it too!! Different man out there, but another sitter down.

i think thats my cue to go to sleep...ive had enough of this....

unsportsman like behaviour - two sixes in last two overs and a comment "another sitter down". Bowler Riaz must be angry as one six was on the next ball.

Over 33.5: Hafeez to Ferguson, no run, OUT, back for the pull shot and he's got a top edge. It's ballooned straight up for Amin to take the catch at short fine leg. AUS 2/174

Finally!

lucky for Amin he caught it or there could have been a collision. YK had given signal to Fawad that team is a team and duties don't change and he was ready to run and swim through the ocean to take the catch as the substitue fielder

Two 6s in that over off Talha. Voges and Paine just helping it on.

Painedo already with a 100. 120 off 133
Voges 16 off 18
AUS 2/233 (40.1)
Umar Akmal bowled the last over and gave four runs. He is an all-rounder

Over 40.4: Masood to Paine, no run, OUT, but now it's all over. Paine looked to go down the ground but didn't get enough on it and Hafeez back-peddling at mid off takes the catch. AUS 3/243

Fahad Masood got clobbered this over by Paine

AUS-A in complete control. I hope Pak-A starts their batting positively. They might be chasing over 320.

Just when things were starting to look better Umar Amin gone!

thats how pakistan rolls ;)

just when things look bright our cricketers make sure its short lived

Fahad - 18 balls and 1 runs. Does he think, he is playing Herath or Kalusekra?

All of a sudden, he is on fire.

11 runs in 28 balls - means he score 10 runs in last 4 ball with a 4 & a 6.

If these two can get going, we still have Ghani and Akmal to come.

Happy days.

or we could be at 280 for 2 and then lose next 8 wickets for 20 more runs.

Over 21.6: Holland to Ghani, SIX, down on one knee and that one's disappeared high over wide mid on.

Over 25.5: Krejza to Ghani, FOUR, back to cut and slices the ball away past Tait at backward point.

Over 30.3: Holland to Ghani, SIX, and this one's almost into the car park! Ghani lines it up and belts the ball high and wide over long on!

Over 30.1: Holland to Latif, SIX, slog sweeps it away high and into the far away seats at deep midwicket.

Over 30.3: Holland to Ghani, SIX, and this one's almost into the car park! Ghani lines it up and belts the ball high and wide over long on!

Game ON!

Latif flukes a hundred! now we will see him in the squad..damn it!!

Over 32.4: Holland to Latif, no run, OUT, but now Latif is out!! Swinging hard but he's picked out Ferguson perfectly at deep backward square leg and he makes no mistake. PAK 4/187

Umar Akmal in...i hope he really takes the bowlers to the cleaners! I hope we winn the match!!

Well he was out trying to hit out...but I think it was a bad time for him to get out...he was playing fast..now Ghani the youngster is going to have a bit of pressure on him..but then again Umar Akmal can turn it around for us..and Inshallah he will!

Stage is set for these two.

Bari Ilyas Ijaz whatever those selectors names are better be watching

What is most impressive is these youngsters are giving it a go. How many times have we seen the senior team just block it out when they know the target is too much.

Pakistan A are going to have to pick up the pace if they are to win this match..run rate up to 8.5...199/4

Over 36.2: McKay to Umar Akmal, one run, short ball flicked to short fine leg and another throw barely misses the stumps.

I guess the running between the wickets "Pakistani" style disease runs in the jr. team as well!

They should be aiming at making it 80-85 runs in the final 10 overs.

It sure does, the only advantage these guys have is they are fast. I got a video of the last game where almost both were at the same end and managed to save the runout.

I'm not too technically savvy in regards to uploading videos.

Over 39.6: Krejza to Ghani, no run, OUT, a big shout for LBW and Ghani is out! Forward to defend or dab the ball away, Umpire Oxenford had a think before giving him out. PAK 5/229

Getting a bit sick of this Umar Akmal bloke.

However knowing PCB he will never be picked for the main team anyway :p

Ghani out ... well played 50. Sarfraz has surprised me with how well he's batted, so there's still some hope.

And we've taken the powerplay. This will be the crutial part of the innings.
