What's new

Australia v South Africa | 1st Test | Perth | Nov 3-7, 2016 | Day 4

Perth is basically SA's favourate one

Drew in 2005, and on course to win for the 3rd successive time(including a record breaking chase)

Australia really should consider not playing there against them

With all the talk about racial quotas, what's ironic here is that it's been all the coloured players that have carried SA. Lmao.

Egg on face for serial racial quota criers like Junaids

While it's true there are racial quotas, it's nothing exaggerated as Junaids' conspiracy theories suggest. Neither are the players selected completely incapable.

So one match justifies picking players based on their racial background? The trouble with this logic is that it gives non white player a free ride and the concept of a team goes out of the window. BTW both black players are beneficiaries of the private school system which is mainly white.

In the first innings or are you talking about this innings?

In this innings, Rabada has done all the damage and one run out, whilst Philander hasn't done much so far.

If they block out Rabada and keep Philander at this rate, then who else is going to pick up the wickets?

You mean that's how it works. Batmsan decides to block and then bowlers can't do anything. Man I should play professional cricket. Sounds pretty simple

It is pretty simple, considering two batsmen got starts and gave it away, whilst one managed to kick on to get a fifty and is being accompanied by someone has a bit of a start.

Warner run out was unnecessary and Smith didn't need to play at the delivery.

They really should be able to see off two bowlers and if they can't, they deserve to lose.

Did you even watch Rabada's final spell. He was swinging it both ways. Don't know where you've been for the past half a decade but Australians can't play swing to save their lives.

What if Rabada doesn't pick up wickets?

Then what?

Like I said, see off Rabada and the game is done.

Either he will run through them or nothing for SA.

It's not one match. Rabada, Philander and Bavuma are all deserving selections and have proven so over the last couple of years. Amla is an ATG. Duminy's was a fair criticism but he's proven his worth in this test and as an all-round package, he brings more to the team than a Roussow. Maharaj is just starting off and is as good as any White spinner.

Quotas have not harmed South African cricket, at least at the highest level.

Bavumba didn't deserve to be selected tbh.

He's justified his selection NOW, but initially on merit didn't really deserve it.

Philly and Rabbi are solid selections though, latter is the most successful raw pace talent since Amir of 2010.
