Around 45 mins to go and the day starts with Australia under the cosh, 61 behind with all ten wkts in hand and Hayden under real pressure for his place. Australia will have to bat 4 sessions to get anywhere near safety (chances of wining are remote), and if they trip up, S Africa could go a long way in securing the series, so a massive day in prospect.

For some reason, I feel like supporting Australians. I actually want them to set a good target for RSA to chase tomorrow. So for today, GO AUSSIESSSSS... OI OI OI ?

Before, I've always rooted for the underdog in Australian matches, which was always the opposing team. But it's the Australians that dawn that title now, for this series at least.

Too much has gone against the Aussies. They were left egg faced yesterday. The South Africans must be brimming with complete confidence now. I wont be surprised to see an Aussie collapse and the South Africans chasing the runs of easily.

Then id like to see how patient James Sutherland remains with Ponting's captaincy, the out of form players e.t.c

What??!! :pissed:

Khilari maidan mein. Stadium looks empty and I mean empty. one bad thing about huge stadiums that even if there are 5000-8000 people it looks empty

2 runs from Hayden to start the day................and this'll be his day

Hayden does have a fantastic record at Melbourne so if he was ever given a free choice to pick a stadium to get back in form, this one would be it!

If Hayden does good then Katich will fail. Hayden is nearing the danger point of 23 runs. Half way there. Inside edge and doesn't carry to keeper
Aus 21-0 - trail by 44

Australia - Welcome to Pakistan heaven. Opener not performing and bowler injured

Shot of the day so far by Haydos, a heavy handed clip through mid on for 4 of Steyn but out next ball!

Oh No! - Mark Nicholas (the first words after the drive and catch)
Hayden 23 out ct at short cover off Steyn
Aus 37-1 - trail by 29

Ah Australia .....
Seems like they couldn't give a castlemaine XXXX at the moment

Steyn to Katich, OUT, edged and gone, and a silly shot! Katich sees a full and wide ball and chases it only to get a faint edge through to Boucher, who dives to pouch it low to his left, well held there

seems like even my support does not motivate them to play like winners!!!!

Back to supporting the champs-> India :P

Terrific by Steyn.

Looking forward to a 10 wicket haul. Nice background music by Explosions in the Sky too (first breath of coma)

Ok - I pop upstairs for a break....and Aus are now 40-2 !!!!!!!!

What happened - and more importantly, who finished Hayden's career off??

Mr Cricket needs to stand up here, has 8 runs from 3 knocks so far in this series.

Hayden himself. He did not learn his lesson of NOT TO DRIVE when the ball is pitched up. He looked like regaining his touch, not to be though

unless there are couple of big hundreds or rain , Aus is looking at first series defeat at home in 16??? years

What a corker of a delivery! Snorter!

Hussey gone

49-3

A bit of dissent thrown in also!

Lead of 60 runs is proving to be very very expensive for the OZ's. they lost 3 already in pursuit of wiping the lead

Morkel has this knack of bowling completely unplayable deliveries. 7 out of 10 times, the best ball of the match would come from his hands.

And of course, there are few better things than watching a test batsman completely beaten for pace and bounce. The only thing that could have made it better was blood.

Hussey has now scored 10 runs in 4 knocks this series. replays show it might have been off the helmet

Thats the sort of decision that tends to go Aussies way 9/10 times - quite sweet really when they are on the receiving end.

No point commies talking about referrals if the system wasnt implemented in this series.

Arent Aussies against it??

they are against it and referral doesn't include hot spot or snickos either. I heard some commi saying two noises but they after that are relying on hotspot which cannot be used

Aussies are feeling the pain that India felt when they toured. Umpire refused to call for third umpire.

what the hell is Healy yapping about? referral/challenge was there in WI-NZ series just this month. It is the Aussie players, coaches and media people who do not want this. And now he is suggesting it can be tried? And that system still doesn't include hotspot or snicko. Just sound from mics and replays.

My bet is if this was Aus bowling he would be litter quieter

Fewer human beings have spoke so much bs as Ian Healey. I loved the bit yesterday when he said we shouldnt have the challenge system because "what if the kids started questionig their parents?".

Hwy that was said by John Buchanan many days ago. Did Healey too say it on the air ?

This is flat track and Junk bowling era. He will be able to maintain his average. around 59.

Don't think so. It will drop down and that too very soon.

He said it yesterday on the tea break show.

Ponting looks to be in good touch.

Correct, Healy is a total moron.

Healy is ultra-biased. He is going to be ranting about it for a while.

I vote next B-G trophy they force Ian Healy and Gavaskar to commentate together.

Haydos to discuss his future in the lunch break.

Is it curtains for the big man ?

MCG is an absolute stunning ground!

One of my favourite

Both Kallis and Morkel creating trouble.

Keeper and the slips are standing too deep though.

Man no matter what one says about Ponting, he is an absolute treat to watch while batting

Average rubbish bunny Ponting somehow managing to make some runs this match, maybe he won't be dropped after all.

69 runs ahead now.

Interestingly there has been a distinct lack of sledging in this series.

SA is going to massacre Australia unless they pull off some miracle. If SA wins this one this is going to be a white wash.

Symmo gone, Aussies getting pwned by Steyn.
5-145.
Symmo will get the cut next match.

Clarke goes for 29 lucky runs. Was way out of form in this innings so probably did well to make 29.

Time for Symo - cue bad shot and out he goes.

Ah dammit

I never rated Symo as Test player. He is proving it big time. He is a one day powerhouse. At test level they should have gone for some traditional players who can graft. Back then they had bowlers to pull them out. Now they cannot afford it. In their own backyard they are getting pwned.

Symonds is a class act. He can bat in tests, he's just out of touch.
Mark Nicholas just called Ponting the ultimate street fighter. What an unsensible dog. :jm :jm :jm

Class act in Test? lol . He has so many weakness especially outside the off stump.

Should not have been recalled when he was so badly out of form. Selectors seem intent on ignoring all the rules about selection.

Rule number 1 - Don't recall player who is out of form.

We are going down 2 nil.
