I don't think that Haddin should get off the strike on first ball itself. He should try to farm the strike.

9/285, Bambi has sixfer. Haddo and last man Garry are there to try and push the score past 300. They will have to bowl pretty well, there's not much in the wicket judging from how Haddo is batting. If they bowl some tripe the Pommies might well put up 500+.

This Test has been all Bambi so far. Anderson has been ok but not outstanding, same with Swann and Tremlett.

I don't get it, Haddin is simply getting out of the strike on first 1-2 ball. Lyon is bound to get out sooner or later.

Broad and Anderson currently have an identical bowling average - 30.12.

When you try and farm the strike you tend to get yourself out, which is what Haddo just did there trying to run a nonexistent second to keep the strike. OZ all out for 295, Haddo out for 94.

Huge ask required of the bowlers to try and restrict England from getting too big of a lead.

295 ao, pretty poor score on what seems to be a flat wicket. Australia need to bowl really well to come back into this match now.

If Aus can keep Eng around 350 then it will be great. Eng will be looking to bat for 2 days here. Wicket is pan cake.

Carberry will be nervous but Cook is still the key wicket for Australia. Need an early strike.

Good start to the match for England. Could have been better had it not been for Haddin and Mitch. Need to put up 500 to take good advantage of this.

Its sad to see the state of cricket in Australia, quality of players have gone big time. We always blame our current players for being inconsistent and many other things. But the fact is that, what we have currently in SA series squad its the best we have in the country. Anyway I think Aussies should look to bowl fuller, becoz u can get wickets if you bowl fuller. All on will depend on Johnny boy of Aussies. Missing the spark in this series, Australian team is an average team right now.

A good two-three days of batting here would be huge in just wearing down the Aussies too. So that is essential to snowball the series.

I actually liked how Sharma was doing it even though bowling was not so great by WI. He was simply not taking any singles in first 3-4 balls. He simply refused to take it unless it was a sure 2. Then he hit either a big shot or took singles in last 2-3 balls. I think he made 50 runs and other batsman made 1 run out of 10 balls or so in a 50+ partnership.

A good two to three days of batting will see Rhino in the injury shed, which is crucial for England.

Shane Warne clutching at straws.. badly lol. Australia's score worth 20-30 more due to outfield? Come on. :msd

Cook is gone, oh dear. That's the biggest blow England could have right now.

Good ball from the bowler there, not much Cook can do with those types of deliveries. :asif

Tortt going to get tested with some rough bouncers here. :clarke

Trott gone, short ball from Mitchell does it. Trott and Clarke need to work on their techniques in this series.

Trott gone, always looked like he would eventually.

Good bowling by Johnson.

Trott was looking bad when playing short ball anyway.

Trott looks very uncomfortable against genuine pace it must be said.

With Clarke it's his back that is changing his technique. Not much that can be done about that.

Pietersen bounced first up, uncomfortably fended away - may have hit his hand.

Quality bowling by Johnson here. Another sharp bouncer, Pietersen hooks and misses.

Johnson has his confidence.

Also suspect that in part the leg side bowling to Trott was part of the plan

Carberry looking quite impressive. Solid technique.

Siddle very accurate, nothing being given. Good contest against Pietersen.

Pietersen dropped, very simple caught and bowled missed by Siddle.

Harris has disappointed today, got a wicket but not so accurate, lots of leg side bowling giving away easy 1s and 2s.

Pietersen out. Siddle's drop doesn't cost much - Australia fighting back.

It's a real pity that injury and age will prevent Harris from having a long career.

Bell is crucial here. Get him and Australia can bundle England out for under 200.

11 overs, 4 maidens, 2/23. Wish all our bowlers were so disappointing :sami

He's set high standards, was economical but not as threatening as usual prior to the Pietersen wicket. Should get some confidence and rhythm now. :lee

Come on Bell, can't let the Aussies win a test in this series. Pakistan have to remain in the top four.

Aussies have fought hard here , they need to restrict Poms to 250 here , to make a real match of this game.

Why are the Aussie bowlers so chubby? Harris and Siddle seem like football players more than cricketers.
