After India clinched a thrilling victory in the first Test, Australia roared back in the second with a dominant 10-wicket win, setting the stage for a high-stakes third Test in Brisbane.

Hopefully bumrah will be fresh for next test.

Two day additional rest will help him .

I hope somehow Rohit will injured before 3rd test only way bumrah can play as an captain. ( I pray for some niggle for him)

I want to see Virat and ashwin dropped. They are useless

I was about to type that.all the time earlier he had imaginary hamstring issues during sena tours and used to miss test matches.he should have one now for country purpose.

Someone should cancel Siraj's visa. Aussie government should 100%.

Other then that I'm looking forward to fire cracker game..hopefully one without loud mouth siraj

Rohit has to go out.. Not test material. 2-1 if rohit is in else India has a outside chance.

"Jasprit Bumrah Can't Bowl From Both Ends": Rohit Sharma's Blunt Message To India Bowlers

Jasprit Bumrah is only human and cannot always shoulder the responsibility of bowling opposition out all by himself, skipper Rohit Sharma said on Sunday, urging others to share the load with the premier fast bowler. India lost to Australia by 10 wickets in the second Test and during the Australian innings, only Bumrah stood out with a four-wicket haul. "Jasprit Bumrah cannot alone take responsibility. You don't expect him to bowl from both ends. The other guys also needs to step in and share the responsibility. There will be days when Bumrah won't get wickets," Rohit said at the post-match press conference.

Young Harshit Rana was clobbered for 86 in just 16 overs but the skipper was against making a two-Test youngster the fall guy for a comprehensive defeat in Adelaide.

"It is not the right thing to judge Harshit Rana based one Test match. I don't feel he has done anything wrong and dropping him without a reason doesn't look good. He got a good player (Travis Head) who put pressure on him. He has got heart and guts to play," the skipper said, defending the Delhi speedster.

There has been calls to bring Mohammed Shami on an SOS basis but while Rohit said that "doors are open" for the Bengal pacer, he informed that the bowler has developed swelling in his knee.

"Door is very much open for Mohammed Shami but while playing Syed Mushtaq Ali he developed swelling. We are monitoring him and we don't want to put pressure on him.

"We will take the call based on what BCCI medical team feels," the skipper said as his body language didn't seem to be too optimistic although pressure is mounting on bringing him back.

The Indian skipper feels that one doesn't need to read too much into the verbal altercation between Head and pacer Mohammed Siraj after the latter gave the left-hander angry send-off after a brilliant century.

While Head said that he had only said "well bowled" to Siraj, the Indian pacer countered by alleging that the Aussie batter is lying.

"There is a thin line between getting aggressive and over-aggressive. It is my job as captain to see that no one crosses the line. But a few words can be exchanged. Siraj knows what he needs to do for the team and he will do everything required," Rohit defended his teammate.

Probed further by Australian media, Rohit said: "When India and Australia play, these things happen. My job is not to look at one incident but at bigger picture."

I hope they can bring Shami back. In addition to his bowling, he can be a useful bat at no 7.
Agreed about Rohit. I sure hope this guy sits out of the next test. He is completely useless now.
I would still give The King one more chance. He can come good, like he showed in Perth.

My lineup for test 3:

Jaiswal
Rahul
Gill
Kohli
Pant (wk)
Reddy
Shami
Bumrah (c)
Ashwin
Rana
Siraj

Can't wait. India with 1-0 up in the series will be going to Gabba with full of confidence. The win here from last series will also give them good memories. Aussies on the other hand will be looking to level the 4 match test series 1-1 before the iconic Boxing day test match in MCG.

Like or not it doesn't matter . series is 1-1 .

We can win the next test if our batsman can score 300 + runs in The first innings.

If India bat first in the next game, it will be 2-1 in favor of Australia. Make no mistake about it.
The only way India can put any pressure on Australia is to bowl first and unleash Bumrah and Siraj on the fresh pitch with the new ball.
India's batting lineup is not going to have any impact.

Akashdeep for Harshit Rana will be the one change most likely.
Rohit and Virat will get all tests no matter what.

Sundar must play the Gabba test as he was one of the main contributor with both ball and bat last time around.

Jaiswal
Rahul
Gill
Virat
Pant
Jurel - proved himself in the A series
Reddy
Sundar
Deep
Bumrah
Prashidh I'd play but they will go with useless Siraj again and he will pick up a couple of wickets after conceding 80+

One very evident tactic from the Aussie quicks was to Target the Indian lower order with deliberate short ball tactics which clearly unsettled the lower order and tail. I reckon, Indians can expect more of this at the Gabba.

Yes.

I think Aussies were way too friendly/relaxed in 1st Test. They were far more lethal in 2nd Test. They need to keep that intensity going for the remainder of the series.

Gabba will be tough to win as it is still a fortress for Australia. I expect it will be 2-1 in favour of Aussies by the end of 3rd test.

MCG will be dicy and historically India has always done well there. So I think we can pull it off and make it 2-2 there.

Then all to play for grand finale in Sydney in new year.

Will that not be awesome and terrific advertisement for test cricket?

Jaiswal,Pant,Gill, Nitish, washi have to take care of score after winning the toss and target 300 .its the only way of hope to win gabba.Get washi again as aswin and Jadeja batting is not good anymore. Even if jadeja scores 100, rohit won't let him bowl to left handers and push pacers into dust.Rohit and kohli should target a combined 75 runs along with other taileenders. Prasid and akashdeep should come in place of siraj and rana.rana was projected as useful lower order batsman but i dont think he scored even 1 run till now

Next 24 hours will decide Test availability: Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood has moved a step closer to proving his fitness for a potential recall for Brisbane

Josh Hazlewood bowled near top pace at Adelaide Oval today during a lengthy examination of his recovery from a side strain but admits it will be a further 24 hours before he can fully gauge his availability for the upcoming third Test.

On what should have been day four of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series match in Adelaide, Hazlewood was the solitary player in action on the centre wicket as he went through a couple of sustained spells.

He was looking to replicate match conditions and the demands they place on his body, before fully cooling down and going again to prove he is able to complete multiple bowling stints in the course of a Test-match day.

Should he be given the all-clear to play in the third Test starting at the Gabba on Saturday, selectors will be forced to choose between the regular Australia new-ball spearhead and his replacement in Adelaide Scott Boland who returned match figures of 5-105.

"I think it'll be how I pull up in the 24 hours following it really," Hazlewood said when asked what loomed as the most important result from today's fitness assessment.

"It’s just that repetitive (action) and obviously two spells makes a big difference.

"Cooling down pretty much fully and then going again in the same day, and the intensity has got to be right up there as well.

"So a few boxes to tick, but it's probably the 24 hours that follow and pulling up again the next day and then thinking 'yeah, I'd be right to go again if I had to'."

The 33-year-old missed Australia's 10-wicket win that was completed within seven sessions at Adelaide because of the minor side injury he sustained during the opening NRMA Insurance Test in Perth.

Hazlewood claimed his history of side injuries stretching back over recent years has proved both a frustrating curse given his stints on the sidelines, but also something of a blessing in that he now readily recognises the first signs of any problem.

He missed all but the first Test of the most recent home Ashes campaign in 2021-22 because of the issue, which flared again at the start of the following summer and once more prior to the World Test Championship final against India in the UK last year.

The problem is as much structural as it is muscular, with the right-armer having previously revealed he has to contend with a smaller-than-usual gap between the bottom of his rib cage and hip bone which can compound the risk of muscle impingement.

Hazlewood indicated the current injury is of such low-grade he could have pushed himself to play if the Adelaide Test had been the last of the summer, but added that would likely have meant another lengthy stint on the sidelines in its aftermath.

"It's not necessarily your typical side strain, which I've had a couple in my career," he said of his most recent setback.

"It’s caused me a lot of trouble over the last few years, but perfect prep this year (heading into the first Test).

"I played the (Sheffield) Shield game and ticked all that off and I was very happy where I was and it still happened, so I was pretty annoyed for a few days.

"If this (Adelaide) was the last Test of the summer, I could have potentially run the gauntlet and played.

"I think I would have been in a pretty bad state by the end of the game, even though it was only a short game but it just wasn't quite right.

"I'm very well aware of the area, and how the feelings are and what sort of pain it is, and how I can get through sessions, and what that means.

"I guess that makes my decisions a little bit easier, and I know what I can get through and what I can't and if I'm ready or not.

"That experience is the positive in this regard."

The need for prudent management of bowling stocks was compounded by the potential for a tight turnaround of just three days between the Adelaide and Brisbane Tests.

However, the dominance of Australia's seamers at Adelaide Oval meant they were able to capture all 20 India wickets while sending down 81 overs, with spinner Nathan Lyon needed to deliver just one of those.

The completion of the Test before the first session break on day three also ensured the teams earned an additional two and a half-days break before play begins at the Gabba, with Australia likely to have a full complement of pace bowlers from which to pick.

Australia boasted a formidable record at the Gabba - where they were undefeated from 1989 - until 2021, when India's historic three-wicket win saw them retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy they have held since 2017.

And last summer Pat Cummins' team suffered a shock eight-run loss to lowly-ranked West Indies in a day-night fixture which Hazlewood attributed to the rapid deterioration of the pink ball on the more abrasive Gabba surface.

He believes the return to red-ball cricket for the third Test will suit Australia, and cited the switch in sleeping patterns after a couple of late night finishes in Adelaide as perhaps the biggest challenge ahead of players.

“We always play pretty well in Brissy (but) the last Test was obviously pink ball," Hazlewood said.

"The pink ball gets quite soft in Brisbane quite early on, with the wicket being quite hard, it doesn't have that thatch grass that we see here at Adelaide.

"So we're back to the red ball there, which I think suits us.

"We obviously haven't won recently up there, but it's a place we like to play.

"It suits our guys.

"It's an experienced team, so we've all been there a lot of times.

"It's probably more just the time difference - the going from day-night and sleeping in - to your sleeping patterns, getting that adjusted and getting back on track."

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel:

“We are getting news that Shami will be going but might play from the fourth Test. There won’t be any benefit if India plays Shami from the fourth Test. Send him now and play him the Brisbane Test. If you are calling him for Melbourne, then don’t call him at all. India need Shami now! Your pace attack needs Shami.”

It won't be easy, but it is not impossible, as India needs to win all three of their matches to ensure qualification for the final of the WTC 2023-25.

It is worth mentioning that, like this week, score was 1-1 heading into the 3rd test on the previous two tours... deja vu ?

What to do with Scott Boland the enforcer clearly made Indian batsmen uncomfortable and Starc pounced on it

Why does it even matter?

New narratives will spout? For example when Australia wrecked India in wtc, the narrative was that Indians don't care about a so called one off test? And that tests played in england are meaningless?

However Indians are desperately trying to qualify for wtc? And had India won wtc 2023 we'd never hear the end of it.

They specifically scheduled first test at Perth and 2nd at Adelaide oval to take 2-0 lead ad these two places are their fortress. They didn't expect shellacking at Perth. Now this is essentially a three test series.

Bumrah fitness is key for India, subcontinent bowlers as the series progresses tend to lower their throttle

It's not just subcontinent bowlers. Starc's speeds decline after 3 Tests on the trot.

Happened last time India toured Australia.

India needs a niche bowling line up to look better in pink ball contests. It is not possible with restriction of the number of people you can have in your squad. Pink ball overwhelmingly favors swing bowlers. India has none.

Batting and Captaincy are the issues here (not bowling). Rohit is the reason for both these debacles... (He is batting poorer than eveb Padikkal, can't able to survive even 10 balls. And clueless captaincy, not able to uplift the body language of players on the field - not making anything happen)

Believe it or not bhoobi bhaiya and arshdeep would run through Australia with pink ball.

Weird ball.

Bhoobi is a bit underrated actually. Averages 25 26. Better than any pakistani bowler since asif quit. He just had too many injuries

Rohit last 5 matches as captain. All losses.

So we know what the problem. Is.

Y
Yes.

Yea because dumb aus dint try that same trick in 2021 itself with their full strength team and they still lost haha.

You really need a hard reality check.

Anyway doesn't matter. India is in transition so aus favourites to win the series but don't be surprised if india upsets you. Infact Moreso you than aus themselves.

Arshdeep is currently the best swing bowler in indian team. He should be playing test cricket right now.. wouldn't do any worse than Siraj and Rana

Rohit can't uplift his body leave aside team's body language

I am sure India will win the red ball matches and the series but others should compensate for whatever mistakes, blunders Rohit is going to make. A 200 run win would be a close win and a decent win would be a loss under Rohit captaincy. So India should aim for big win.

WHy does India always bat first? even in bowling friendly conditions?

Akash Deep in place of Harshit Rana
Jadeja or Sundar in place of Ashwin

One personal choice:-

Jurel in place of captain Rohit Sharma

After this thrashing India will have their task cut out. Bumrah was cramped in the 2nd test. In a 5 test series if everyone doesn't pull their weight things can go south. India should go with 4 seamers and 1 spinning all rounder

What a shame it would be if Scott Boland was left out, which, in all likelihood, he will be.

Under Kohli India had this combo of 4 fast bowlers 1 spinner. Because of Reddy India had to break that combo. Bumrah is being overloaded because of that which takes edge of his bowling. India has to drop a spinner and Rana go with Prasidh and Akash.

Lyon should be dropped. He's had no role to play so far in the series and it's likely to continue that way in Brisbane
You always need a spinner in tests. All pacers in tests means you're stringing em up for early retirement.

Brisbane offers no help to the spinners for first 3 days at least. With two average batting lineups game will finish early.

Moreover Hazlewood returns from injury so it'd be better if Boland shares his workload because Lyon is not likely to bowl much again.

Lyon will definitely be required in Sydney though

In my opinion game should do away with proper spinners. Just have batting all rounders who can turn the ball. No offence to any top spinner, just find spin Boring to watch...

Nothing beats pace bowling. Steaming in hurling bouncers and trying to take someone's head off. If anything we need to see more blood on the field

Cricket is a brutal game. Not a gentleman's game..

Why does he cramp so easy

He is acting like he bowled 25 overs

He bowled like 18 20 Max per innings

Yashasvi Jaiswal missed the bus that was taking the Indian team to the airport for their flight to Brisbane. The bus, scheduled to leave around 8:30 am, departed at 8:50 am without him, which seemed to annoy Captain Rohit Sharma.

Jaiswal emerged from the hotel about five minutes after the bus left and had to take a car, accompanied by the team's security officer, to catch up with his teammates at the airport.

Bro @jeeteshssaxena this is the guy you put > Travis Head?

He doesn't even know how to checkout of the hotel properly?

Bumrah is injured and may miss game 3 apparently.

That would be a huge blow.

If it's the area where he cramped up then this is self-inflicted. They never should have kept bowling him once he went down and let him rest.
