India won the toss and will bat first

Australia going with four seamers Johnson, Clark, Tait, Lee

Pathan comes in for Harbhajan. Sehwag in for Yuvraj

The ground looks pretty full (it is small compared to other stadiums)
Pathan batting at 8 so India has batting filled up. Anthems next

This should be a good Test match. Don't write India off by any means. If they treat the pitch on its merits there's no reason why they won't do well. I hadn't realised how different the OZ team was from the one that won the Ashes here at the WACA last year. Aside from the middle order everyone is new, just about.

Langer --> Jaques
Hayden --> Rogers
Ponting --> Ponting
Hussey --> Hussey
Clarke --> Clarke
Symmo --> Symmo
Gilly --> Gilly
Lee --> Lee
Warne --> Johnson
Clark --> Clark
McGrath --> Tait

OZGOD, just wanted to know mate since your info says you are in Boston could you possibly fancy the New England Patriots ?.. If so what do you think of their 16-0 season ?

get ready for some carnage :D

Surely, if Sehwag gets going. :19: But I feel he will be out early as he hasn't played tests in so long.

Why do players take off the caps and not sunglasses during anthem. Show some courage and stare at the flag.

PS: It was only Dhoni wearing them between both teams

It is hot - 35 C temp. Mark Nicholas had a tingly feeling when he said the pitch is rock hard
Slater saying if you can get going then it is the best place to bat

Lee to bowl to Jaffer and takes a single. No fireworks there
Sehwag also handles the ball easily
Clarke on first slip instead of Symonds
Sehwag leg glance for four and four to cover
Ind 9-0 after 1 over
Johnson to bowl

Why isn't my CricketonTV feed working?!?!?! :69: :69: :69:

its funny how sehwag is trying to hit everyball. i m so used to seeing dravid block every ball

to have another faster bowler when Lee is rested. I think Tait also came first change in the T20 match against NZ here

Yep, I'm fancying the Pats big time. They pretty much look unstoppable. Then again, when you're in the playoffs anything can happen - you have one bad game and your season is over. But the thing about the Pats is they have so many options - they can run or Brady can throw it to Moss each time and drive via the passing game. There's not really a weakness other than the fact that Brady's backup has had virtually no game time so if he's injured it will take a big part out of their game.

People will look back on their 16-0 season and realise that while they made it look easy at times, it was a bloody tough achievement. Some of the teams they flogged (Chicago got flogged 57-0, other teams lost by margins of 30+) are pretty good teams that made in the playoffs. Plus in the latter half of the season they weren't playing well at all and were still winning.

Plus, no more Indianapolis and no more Peyton Manning after the Chargers knocked them over last weekend. That was going to be the crunch match for NE.

You an NFL fan, are you Romali?

Why is Mitchell Johnson opening the bowling? :pissed:

Aussie Safraz should be opening the bowling eh. MJ tends to spray it around at times. India have started well.

Lee bowls a wide for four to leg side. Sehwag still swinging and fishing and has missed 5-6 balls, Then hits a four to cover
Ind 30-0 after 5 overs

Clark replacing Johnson. Umpire Rauf :108: checks the ball and says play on

What an eventful over that just was.

4.6 Lee to Sehwag, no run, defended on the front foot
Thanks to Sajan Nair, your unsung scorer for the day, for that stat (ie he does the scoring bit, we add the comments)
4.5 Lee to Sehwag, FOUR, but that's a really attractive shot, a cover-drive to bring up India's highest opening partnership this series, beating their previous best of 26
4.4 Lee to Sehwag, no run, beats him once again, a horrible non-shot outside off, trying to chop down a cut, not at all moving his feet. Yuk
4.3 Lee to Sehwag, no run, draws him into a play-and-miss again, the batsman stepping out into the off-side to drive
4.3 Lee to Sehwag, 5 wides, a huge bouncer veers down leg and Gilchrist can't get anywhere near it, and it runs on its way. Five wides, ouch
4.2 Lee to Sehwag, no run, on middle, short, at the ribcage, tucked down off the hips
4.2 Lee to Sehwag, 1 no ball, beaten again, up there inducing the drive, but no-ball called
4.1 Lee to Sehwag, FOUR, Lee hits 150.1kph but is a touch wide, and that's laced right out of the middle through backward point

Ind 31-0 after 6 overs

I Chappel says moving Laxman from #3 is bad move. Dravid should be # 5 or 6 as Laxman is good for these conditions. Let's see who comes nexy

Was it batting or bowling carnage?

It's neither at the moment. It's pretty evenly balanced. As I had predicted, everyone has overrated the pitch - it's bouncier than it's been in the past, but it's no trampoline. It's a good true pitch which helps good bowlers while also allowing batsmen to play their shots.

I wouldn't have moved Laxman either - I would have played Laxman at 3, Tendy at 4, Dravid at 5 and Ganguly at 6.

Yep..I agree. Just wanted to confirm from Kashif bhai what he was referring to.

Aussies are almost subdued. Crowd is appreciative and well mannered. Good, clean cricket so far.

Man, Sehwag should buy himself a lottery ticket. He's living a charmed life - some gorgeous shots but some very close shaves as well.

50/0 in 10 overs.....
....at this rate 450 runs at the end of the day!

Nothing new for Sehwag. That's the way he lives on the crease, especially in the beginning overs.

If you live in India, you have better odds of winning a lottery that making it to the national side! :p

India and in particular Sehwag have ridden their luck and come out firing. Just reading the commentary Sehwag has been pretty lucky to still be out there, but all that matters really is that India is 0/50. It will be interesting to see how they handle Tait!!!

Aren't you watching this on Nine, Geng? Or are you at work/school?

I feel like Sehwag's going to get out soon, the way he's playing. He's just flailing away at anything, eventually one of those balls will catch an edge. How much damage will he do before he gets out though?

Sehwag is swinging and missing , swinging and missing , swinging and boundary

hey its more fun than Dard-e-Dravid

Nah mate ... at work ... so just checking it up on cricinfo. Luckily since it was a late Perth start, I should get to watch a few hours when I get home later this afternoon.

more like gilchrist ..

Well India got one thing right after 2 tests and that is for Sehwag to open. A few posters have said it too that he should have been opening.
Ind 56-0 after 12

no they were not beaten. they left the ball.. they played sensibly.. only indians need luck to get thru first hour of the test match..

:6: where's Bucknor when you need him?

Rah rah, crowd booing a catch that never was

Good decision by Rauf :108: The ball came off arm guard (forearm) that gilchrist caught

what happened???

the ball hit the arm guard and as Always the Aussies appealed like it hit his glove and giving not out is a crime.

Damn, for some reason my feed changed to Sky Sports. How do I change it?

A few quiet over lately and the RR has dropped below 4 RPO for the first time.

Hmm, Cricinfo said this:

So this pitch, then, it's pacy that's for sure, and the balls have been too quick on occasion for the batsmen. But perhaps it's not as speed-of-lightning as it was expected to be.

I will accept apologies from people who doubted me throughout the match. :D

A great desicion by Asad Rauf :85: on that LBW . He is the winner today. Pakistan will win it

OUT - Sehwag finally got out. I felt it was only a matter of time. MJ gets the wicket, bit of extra bounce did him in

I reckon they should send in VVS next - he would totally own on this wicket.

Not that Dravid's a bad player, but India might lose some momentum which they had worked hard for.
