New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first

last match of series and Australia leads series 1-0

Australia: Hayden, Calrke, RT Ponting, MEK Hussey, A Symonds, BJ Haddin, JR Hopes, B Lee, GB Hogg, SW Tait, NW Bracken

New Zealand: MS Sinclair, BB McCullum, JM How, SB Styris, RL Taylor, GJ Hopkins, JDP Oram, KD Mills, DL Vettori, JS Patel, MR Gillespie

Clarke opening as Gilchrist is off today

Aus 6-0 after 1 over

1/16

Clarke gone pulling Gillespie straight up in the air and being caught and bowled.

Scoring has slowed down. Vettori on in 11th over. A little surprising as I thought he at one point was testing the waters with Patel first.
Aus 51-1 after 10 overs <where is the gadha gari smilie>

Hayden out. missed it

11.2 Oram to Hayden, OUT, down the wicket to a short one, there's a top-edge pull and now Hayden's gone

Aus 56-2 after 12

19.1 Oram to Hussey, OUT, a much-deserved wicket for Oram, Hussey lofting the ball straight to extra cover where How takes a straightforward catch. So Australia struggling a touch now, having set off on a decent note

Aus 89-3 after 20 overs

Ponting is nbc.

NBC = nothing but class.

The guy almost never fails. Truly legendary batsman.

Probably won't break Sachin's record for most runs, but will come close!

Tony Greig has not been banned by Channel 9. After doiung the ICL commentary he is here

Ponting 84 - Symonds 32
Aus 163-3 after 33

a very good century. I didn't see any chances or struggling by him

Symonds out on 52 LBW Mills
Aus 201-4 after 38.4 overs

Vettori having a few words with Ponting, perhaps picking up that they seem to be running down the middle of the track

Vettori should be careful, Ponting will end his career by giving the biggest asswhooping ever since by a batsman to a bowler.

Ponting hardly looks out of breath. Play will get underway at Junction Oval in half an hour, India have won the toss and will bat.

Indian captains have been doing good tossing

this is the beauty of aussie cricket. They know gilchrist will be retiring soon and they give Haddin a chance. Haddin knows that if he screws up there are other wicketkeepers waiting, so he plays well.

Even if he plays well he knows Gilchrist will come back next game and take his place anyway.

There is no sense of "entitlement" in the Aussie team. You EARN ever position you get. If Haddin continues to play well he'll be a regular Aussie keeper by the time he's 31 probably and in his prime.

System is FLAWLESS.

Haddin runout. Played to point and took off but after 4-5 steps sent back by Ponting

Aus 246-5 after 45.4 over
Batsman Hopes in

match delayed (india)

India will take on Australia with zero match practice which is sad.. it virtually takes the competitive edge of the match.

whoever scheduled it was an idiot. Again another list of complaints, see indian board thread.

Indain team should have left for Australia 6-7 days ago and played two matches. Maybe they have one after the first or second test. They didn't organize it well. But then that is what most tours are doing now. Except when they go to England and they will have 2-3 matches during the tour (one at start and then 1-2 in middle)/ I wonder who arranges thoes - the visiting side or touring side or does it become a money issue (j/k as there will not be money to be made there) but clubs will be looking forward to playing them?

NZ has had a recent history of chasing down mammoth Aussie totals, this is not quite mammoth. What do you think are Nz chances?

just like I predicted
Aus 282-6 after 50
Ponting 134 not out off 133 balls

not good. It will be like the first ODI where 2-3 batsman will play good but not enough. But then who knows

OT, anyone see Michael Hussey's brother bat? Goes by David Hussey.

INCREDIBLE STATS.

114 matches 56.32 average with 70 strike rate.

India in trouble, Wise gets two wickets and not even 2 overs of his completed!

He's tall too 2.00 m.

Laxman out.

few of the OZ players like Jaques, Voges, Haddin, D Hussey, Hopes, Helfenhaus were on the 'A' tour to Paksitan. Plus D Hussey has been making name in county cricket too.

Here's one I will agree with you on :P

Definately was a nonsensical decision to arrive a week before an important test series, and only allowing for one warm up match. Hope they get battered in the series as a result. I guess this is what happens when they are too busy in playing as many games as possible and making as much money as possible.

lol good. That's the whole point of the other thread too. Corruption. And not using that money to good use even though they get it in shady ways.

I won't fault it if it was a Bangladesh using that money as capital to improve their team/facilities. But India doesn't do that. THe money goes directly in politicians and the state of cricket stays the same.

Well let me stop now and confine that to the other thread. :D

wise is running through the Indians! Captured Jaffer/Lax/Tendu!

What talent this current lineup has!

Even if Ganguly gets out.

Yuvra/Dhoni/Pathan to go!

Whooooo. If Pathan could bowl better we'd have a sexy batting lineup.

McCullum out ct behind off Lee. loose shot. It was a wide ball outside the off stump if left alone, Maybe the speed and swing got him as all the balls in the over were 150 kph but this on was 128 kph
NZ 7-1 after 2.5 overs
Ind 39-3

Hopes strikes first ball. Sinclair LBW
NZ 43-3 after 11.1 - need 240 more to win

Taylor goes now ... LBW to Tait ... NZ struggling big time here ... 4/60

Now Oram goes ... quite a pathetic series this has been for the Kiwis ... 5/72 they are.
