So South Africa have the best away series record Overall in the last 20 years, followed by Australia, India and England.

Thanks, nice thread. So, SA despite their slump in the recent past, seem to still be the best travellers in world cricket.

Australia, despite all those criticisms from their fans of their team away from home, seem to have done really well. Suspect a lot of that has to do with the great Aussie team who were ruthless home and away.

What's amazing about South Africa is that they went unbeaten overseas for a period of ~8 years. Not surprising when they had legends like Smith, Amla, Kallis, ABD and Steyn playing for them at the same time, with a good supporting cast.

Easily one of the ATG test sides.

This is why South Africa are the greatest test cricket nations of all-time alongside India and Pakistan. The stats are completely fair by all aspects and it proves the same.

So as expected Asian teams are the best travelling teams in Asia, with India leading the pack.

While the best non Asian team in Asia in the last 20 years has been England.

Great stats, thanks Heisenberg.

Perhaps the one surprise is South Africa featuring so low in series wins win loss ratio in Asia. They have really struggled of late in asia.

South Africa's Overall away record is the best out of all teams, thanks to their dominant away record outside Asia, otherwise their away record in Asia has really took a beating of late.

England easily are the best non Asian travelling team in Asia though.

Ok.. Can you give me without series wins in Bangladesh Zimbabwe and Ireland

I think win ℅ will drop significantly
Won't affect the standings one bit if you exclude BD, Zim and Ireland. The rankings will stay as they are.

Great stats, thanks Heisenberg.

It is only the last 4-5 years.

SA under Smith had better away W/L than at home. Not lost away series for a long period. Then you have the Great Aus team record included in the last 20 years here. They did very well when playing away as well.

It is only the last 4-5 years.

Still, SA have slipped to the 7th spot in terms of away series record in Asia in the last two decades. Even New Zealand have a better series W/L ratio in Asia than SA in the last 20 years.

Surprised by India's record outside Asia, they have 9 series wins outside in Asia. I guess they have 4 series wins in SENA, 4 series wins in WI and 1 series win in Zimbabwe.

So South Africa have the best away series record Overall in the last 20 years, followed by Australia, India and England.

Thanks for the series win Stat. They are credible wins and nothing should take away from the series achievement of winners.
Yet, how does this stats look with number of tests rather than series?

will be good to understand the impact of disproportionate series such as 2 tests series.

3. India

4. England

Matches Drawn 31

W/L ratio = 0.71

5. Pakistan

Matches Played 93

Matches Lost 50
Matches Drawn 15

8. West Indies

So, Australia on top instead of South Africa, when you consider the number of matches played instead of the number of series played.

Rest of the rankings remain the same.

Interesting, so Aussies have been the most dominant away team of the last two decades, matches wise. Mostly coz of their exploits from 2001-2009, I reckon.
