Babar Azam ends his long-standing partnership with Gray Nicholls and signs a new endorsement deal with CA Sports [Post Updated #199]

CA pays more money thats why. No where have i said CA is makes bad cricket bats. Their cricket bats are great

I am talking about branding. In terms of branding CA is no where near GN.

Like i gave the Forward sports and Adidas example for footballs. When we talk about branding, CA doesn’t compare to Gray Nicolls or GM.

It’s like the example of Forward Sports and Adidas for footballs. Forward Sports makes excellent footballs, but Adidas is the brand that dominates the world because of its branding and marketing strategies.

Their branding may not be as good but they’ve got good rep, most of the goray at club level prefer CA and MB over Gray Nicolls and GM.

That’s subjective

GN recently has taken major hits to their brand with Babar, Rizwan and Shan Masood. Babar was supposed to be good but he’s been a flop. Rizwan is a joke of a batsman, but he does well for their keeping gear. Shan Masood lol, enough said.

Saud is a good signing and on par with the quality of players they sign from England/NZ/SA. Yousuf never let them down, the quality was on par with what you see from Root-Williamson.

Even with Babar on their roster, I never saw a massive inclination of Pakistani cricketers in UK and kids from Pakistani families to buy GN gear. It’s a good willow, not exactly a very very popular one the way you are making it out to be. Even the posh gorey at competitive first team level don’t go out of their way to buy one, unless they get it for free through sponsors. The market is always the rich parents of upper middle class kids.
GN sponsor with Shadab was pure dumb, they got conned to it.
With Shan Masood i think its due to the Yorkshire thingy cause he was the captain and has made a name for himself in the county sector

I am not sure but i think GN mostly goes with players that are regular in Test cricket.

Still GN has communicated itself as a top brand, and you have said it yourself that it has developed a market for itself in the upper middle class.

Has Nike or Kokaburra ever sponsored a Pakistani player?

thats what my issue is with Pakistani sports industry. If the products have demand than why can they not improve their branding?

A joke brand like BoomBoom for a few years was able to make a name for itself, why cant CA, Ihsan or MB do the same. Its a big market gap, especially in the shoes area. I think Ihsan was the main sponsor of Imran and till this day its just never became a big brand. These guys are just happy acting as suppliers to other sports brands

I’m not sure anyone currently is sponsored by Nike cricket bats. They have popular spikes, but they were only mainly doing individual Indian players in the early 2010s for brand building. I can’t recall any player at top level using a Nike cricket bat.

As for Kookaburra. I don’t recall any Pakistani player ever using one from my knowledge. It may have been the case in the 80s/90s during Imran Khan+Miandad era where someone could have been approached by them, otherwise Australians generally have never rated Pakistanis, especially the batsmen. And who’s going to buy Kookaburra bats in Pakistan or in the South Asian diaspora through Pakistani sponsorship?

Once again, the market is upper middle class gorey parents who happily splash the cash

Bro, no club cricketer in Pakistan can buy a proper bat of any brand. Everyone uses replicas or the cheapest CA and MBs.

One new brand has emerged from Canada called UZ Cricket. I think the owner was a poster here by the name of Cover Drive (Not sure if its the same guy). He used to post alot on cricket bats around here. There company is really smart, basically, as soon as they see a raw talent with no sponsor or an international guy with no sticker on their bat, they immediately give out a sponsor. For such a small brand it has got many decent international players. Most of their sponsors are bowlers.

was it a sponsor though? If so thats big.

Something interesting i noticed is that in the past the test trousers of the players also used to be sponsored by some other company lol
Yes he was sponsored keeping gear by them. Don’t think it was a bat deal because he was still using MB

Gray Nicholas has not worked that well for Babar. HS was a different beast with Babar. LOL.

Kohli used to have Nike bats during the early part of his career. Adidas got into bats for a time when they were targeting the Indian market, but now they are out too.

Misbah had sponsor from Nike for Shoes and Test Trousers

Because they have small mind mentality like their cricket board. Pakistanis in general are happy to just get by rather than dominate any industry.

Are you sure he was sponsored or he didn’t just buy those whites from a market in Faisalabad?
There are pics on the internet. Players never show logo of a sporting equipment unless they are being paid for the brand affiliation.

This is true, but there is a demand aswell especially in the shoes market.

I think its because of the seth culture we have in organization. The seth throws money and gets production done they are not educated enough. Even in this thread you can see how posters are so very confused about Branding and think CA is a same level Brand as GN.

Correct me if im wrong, but it was you who has mentioned here that he has an experience in Advertising?

Well, I’m looking for proof online Misbah was sponsored kit by Nike. Can’t seem to find anything

So you basically asked the question about Pakistan players ever being sponsored by Nike or Kookaburra because you wanted to tell us Misbah is the only one?

Sir if he had a Nike sponsor, why you have an issue with that now? Good to see Nike sponsored our guy. I think there were more Pakistanis that had a Nike shoe/spike sponsor

There is no proof he was sponsored by them. He could have bought a trouser and asked the PCB logo to be embroidered onto it.

You have to provide proof like the social media post or some article.

I don’t have a problem, I need proof that your claim he was sponsored by them is true.

Like i have said, players dont wear logos of a brand and provide free advertising or brand affiliation. They end up putting tape on the logo.

I hve provided you proof, i dont really care if you want to accept it or not. Now to say PCB did embroidary on it, lol sure.

Maybe learn about how sports branding works.

Sarfraz never had an article on a kokurbura sponsor, it was a pic of him buying their gloves, but as i said, as his logo was also showing that means he was sponsored.

Can you provide proof of your claim in paragraph one? So if a guy who has no sponsor plays on Tv with kit that he may have bought from Adidas or Nike, they will be sued by sporting brands because he is giving one company free advertisement?

sportsman dont give free advertising. To think that a sports will give free advertising is very naive. Again as you have very little understanding on sponsorship and branding this wont really sit in your head aswell..

If a sportsman plays with a non sponsor brand, they will either apply tape on its logo or remove that logo. Celebrities dont free advertising.

Congratulations Gray Nichols

They are blessed to have this man representing their brand. Best technique in the world. Frequently being viewed on Sky Sports HD. GN sales will sky rocket this summer!
My my my my :klopp

Your not making sense by avoiding the questions without proof.

It’s easy to say these things, but you need to back it up with proof. So Misbah could be sued by Adidas, GM, GN, CA etc if he wears a Nike trouser without an official sponsor by them?

Nike, Pepsi and lays are Pakistan’s biggest sponsors correct? I only see ads related to these 3 the most.

Occasionally a car ad will come as well.

I have answered you. You are just being ignorant now.

But your answer seems incorrect and not supported by facts.

There was a picture circulating of Babar in a RL jumper with the teddy on it. So Babar is sponsored by RL? He knew the picture was going viral. Why is Babar giving free advertisement to RL if he isn’t sponsored by them?

Nike isnt and lays just started

But pepsi is yes one of our biggest and main sponsors. They have never left pakistan cricket and sponsored them through thick and thin. I have heard rumours that pepsi used to dictated to pcb that afridi should be in the team no matter what

Hbl is the second biggest sponsor i would assume. Than Ufone/ptcl is also there somewhere.

lays just started, but it terms of sports brand, no sports brand does a proper sponsorship if the team. Slazenger was the last biggest sports sponsor we had, after that it was those garbage AJ, Ca and BoomBoom

Pepsi is massive in the sports world. Pepsi has recently started selling more then coke due to such sponsors.

Oh yeah that boom boom bubble gum. I remember those ads as well. Long long time since I've had it. They aren't available in aus sadly

Anyways you can keep acting ignorant.
Ok so where is the law/rule that states a sportsman only uses the company or equipment they are sponsored by? Otherwise they are giving free advertisement? Just to prove your claim, give me one credible source that Misbah was wearing the trouser because of Nike sponsorship?

I always assumed boom boom bubble gum was his own creation as in his own influencer brand.

Lay’s is owned by Pepsi.

Lay’s is owned by Pepsi.
Ik, Gatorade as well.

But Pepsi the company and Pepsi the drink are separate.

Pepsi the company owns all brands but they sponsor their products depending on market conditons, And sales strategy.

Babar Azam has ended his long-standing partnership with English cricket equipment manufacturer Gray Nicholls and signed a new endorsement deal with Pakistan-based CA Sports. This move comes as a significant shift for Babar, who had been using Gray Nicholls bats throughout his rise to international prominence.

The reasons behind the switch remain undisclosed, but it is believed to be a strategic decision as he seeks fresh opportunities in his career and may also be influenced by his recent struggles with the bat.

MB new willow is an absolute monster. I remember I was at this tournament where this old pro/chachu was delivered 3 recently arrived MB’s from Pakistan, just before the final. Uncle jee ne aag laga di! The ball pinged off his bat into the trees mate!
Looking to buy one, whats the specific model?

Leaving Gray-Nicolls and opting for CA has been a blessing in disguise for Babar, as he is regaining his form

Doubt it was Babar who ended this partnership lol

Pretty sure it was the other way round.
