Virat Kohli speaking on Star Sports:

"The first interaction I had with him [Babar] was during the 2019 [ODI] World Cup after the game in Manchester,"

"I've known Imad [Wasim] since the Under-19 World Cup, and he said Babar wanted to have a chat."

"We sat down and spoke about the game. I saw a lot of regard and respect from him from day one, and that hasn't changed,"

"Regardless of the fact he's probably the top batsman in the world across formats, and rightly so.

"Performs so consistently and I've always enjoyed watching him play,"

All Kohli fans should take note, this guy knows what he's talking about.

Didn’t he do this exact same interview last year?

It's from last year's interview. Media has run the same thing again...

You can check that his jersey is an old one. BYJU'S was India's previous sponsor and it clearly says "Asia Cup 2022" on his jersey.

Asia Cup 2022 was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka but it was moved to UAE in July 2022.

this old as i remember the same qoutes from the last year, Star sports rebroadcasted it again

Who cares - only when you have little to show apart from stats do people start celebrating some kind words by peers and ex-players. This is just going the old tendi route.

From Babar Azam presser:

Babar Azam when questioned about the constant comparisons with Virat Kohli:

“Let's leave the debate to the fans who do it. I don't want to comment on it, everyone has a point of view. There's definitely mutual respect. He's elder to me, and I have been taught to respect our elders, no matter which country they are from,” said Babar.

“I learnt a lot from him. When I started my career, I listened to a lot of his interviews. In 2019, I talked to him as well and it helped me as well. I can't tell you the details about it. The mutual understanding between all of us players, from all countries -- not just India -- is pretty well.”
