Babar Azam versus Shan Masood: Captaincy comparison

Shan Masood's field placing for Travis head was good. He trapped him in his favorite area on the off side. Whoever came up with the idea did a good job there.

Shan did a better job in his firs outing as captain that too on a difficult tour. Babar really has nothing to show as far as his achievements in captaincy are concerned. Babar is a mile ahead of a batter than Shan in any format, but captaincy-wise, Shan is a better option if we compare these 2 only.

Not sure of it is going to work in Odi format, if they make shan the captain. He is nowhere near the team atm SHAN.

2) Secondly Shan doesn't have any wins to show for anything. I understand that KK was a crap team in PSL and that Australia was in their home den, but it doesn't change the fact that Shan did extremly poorly results wise.

Contrast to Misbah who won Asia cup and India series in his first year, Followed by sarfi whitewashing WI and winning CT 2017 followed by Babar getting into semi's and 2 finals of 2 cups. Yes the results are skewed but it doesn't matter, nothing can change quantitative data irrespective of Narratives.

3) A Leader isn't just an onfield captain, They have a job to build a team, be a respected leader, gell a solid combination and get the batting + bowling order right. Shan in his test series did none of that.

The only thing he's done is be a better infield captain then Babar which is not an achievement because every Tom, dick and Harry is better then bobby. Even Shadab in PSL was better then Bobby at onfield captaincy.

I am not saying Shan is better captain than Babar but the way he started his stint as captain is better than Babar. First of all, Shan's place is the team is not justified but he is still there and made captain out of nowhere. Things like this are part and parcel of PCB's management.

Reality is Shan also lost 3-0 which is not a good thing as a captain but he showed some positivity in the field as was bit more aggressive than Babar.

well i think both are equally pathetic in decision making but if i have to choose one so i will pick Shan Masood because of his better body language on the field.

Shan is a terrible captain and no beating England doesn't mean he gets credit.

He was still burning Noman chacha and sajid Khan to tye ground by having them bowl every over known to man.

It's very clear he doesn't have any strategies on how to get the best out of his other bowlers and his field settings aren't particularly great either.

I refuse to let Shan Masood take credit for any of what sajid and Nouman have achieved. These 2 along with saud and KG have single handidely won the 2 test games for pakistan but it's clear sajid don and nouman chacha are the MVP's.

Shan the Kabootar didn't even want this team, This is all thanks to Aqib Javed being the hero and actually bringing some sense to the test lineup.

Otherwise Shan, Rizwan, Babar, Shaheen, Abrar all these lullei's are dead baggage and waste of space.

A truly awful cricketer both from a batting perspective and captaincy perspective.

Here are all of his genius decisons

1) Bangladesh test series: Declared out of the blue because he tried to be cute and wanted to force a result knowing full well how rubbish pakistan is stamina wise and hence their batting collapses on road pitches in the 2nd innings.

2) Stubbornly kept the same team along qith Gillespie for the 2nd test and due to rubbish field settings for das and Mahumd allowed Bangladesh to nullify the lead. Bhai why on earth are all the fielders standing at the back? Do you think Das is going to hot boundaries with a tail ender? Obviously he'll tuk tuk and take singles of the last delivery of the over?

3) Once again selected the same rubbish team against England on a road pitch and this team randomly brought all the fielders in which caused a bazzball galore from England? Bhai damag theik hai?

4) 2nd and 3rd test his only plan is to bowl sajid and nouman till death. It's working but he has no clue on field settings, placements or how to get the best out of his other bowlers like jamal or zahid mehmood

5) Multiple times he's panicked and cried and given up and handed the captaincy reigns to Babar, Sarfaraz and Rizwan. Anytime he's losing his only solution is to yell " BABAR RIZWAN, SARFRAZ HELPPPP MEEEEEEEEEE"


6) Horrible Horrible Batsmen, Even when given a road pitch for an easy 150, he doesn't have the stamina to continue while Brooks and root had no issue batting long. All this positive intent is nonsense, All I see is a fraud batter who tried to get runs quickly cause he knows he doesn't have the stamina or technique to last long.

He is the worst captain to ever represent Pakistan cricket along with Babar and once Rizwan is made captain you'll have completed the trilogy of the Trio of Leading Idiots.
