Back domestic performers: The solution to pakistan's cricketing woes

We have seen countless upon countless times that only domestic performers who prioritise FC cricket + List A over nonsense PSL leagues end up becoming solid players for pakistan.

For example it is well known that players like shadab, Shaheen(as a psl batsmen), azam Khan, Usama mir, Nawaz are psl superstars, However they have frequently failed on the big stage and have caused more damage to pakistan cricket.

I was frankly getting sick and tired of Babar azam's team frequently supporting these rubbish passengers who Botched and lost games for pakistan cricket, solely due to the fact that all selections for test, odi and t20 were being made based of PSL

However the moment pakistan prioritised domestics + fc cricket players, the team has been headed in an upward trajectory in odi + test. T20 format is weak atm

Saim Ayub: 45 avg 106 sr in List A, 40 avg 65 sr in fc

Noman and Sajid: Nearly 800 fc eickets shared between these 2 at healthy eco rates and avg

Kamran ghulam: Freqent scorer and chart topper in fc and List A tournaments for pakistan with nearly 60 fc games inder his belt.

So on and so forth. Khawaja nafay is another talent eho seems to be prioritising donestics atm.

can we please now move on from players who are just franchise bullies and achieve nothing in internationals? Half of these guys barely play cricket to begin with? Like Abdullah 7 List A games before being made a world cup opener lol.

100% agree.

They need to back these players and don't be afraid to keep moving forward with the strategy if one player is a dud. You can never hit on 100% of your selections.

In the past, they would experiment with one guy, give him a few chances, and then revert to has-beens because of their name or past performances. It creates a system where the new players get nervous and the has-beens think it's their God-given right to have a spot in the squad.

This is something I have always said is important and it applies to all formats.

No fakhar was a top scorer in one of the domestic odi/t20 tournaments in 2014-16 i believe. I saw him live in one of the domestic matches and he was the best batsman in the his team.

Those decisons to select domestic performers like Saim,KG,etc are bearing fruit as we can see from teams performance in AUS and SA. It all started with the England test series

To a great extent captaincy change has also worked. In T20is we need to rest Haris as he leaks runs and need FZ and/or Samad in place of Babar/Rizwan.

Domestic performers are proving why they should have been on the team. Kamran played a blinder of an inning. Brilliant. Irfan was also looking pretty good TBH but the situation demanded hit on each ball so I am ok with him also. Salman ali agha (WOW) He was batting well but got unlucky.

Agree.

PSL shouldn't be used to select players. FC and List A performances should be used for selections.

Its pub's fault.

They selected Abdullah to become a wc opener after 7 List A games .

Then selected Azam Khan and Usman Khan even though both of them have never played fc in their life. In the case of azam, Barely any List A. Just a psl basher where shaheen bullies at no 3 as well.

Shaheen as a no 8 batsmen due to psl exploits

Shadab Khan due to psl exploits.

Imad due to psl exploits. I like imad, but his career went downhill when he stopped caring about odi and t20, never bothered with fc either.

Don't get me wrong their are some exceptions, Like chacha is a domestic performer and so is Imam, not every donestic performer will be successful

But a domestic performer will have chances of being succesful while a sole t20 bully like azam Khan will never be successful

Mohammad Ali is not better than Khurram
