Hi guys, we talk a lot about current team but, what about the back ups of the current players in LOIs.

Following is my list:

Fakhar Zaman: Sahibzada Farhan, Abid Ali, Israrullah (Aggressive openers)

Imam ul Haq: Shan Masood, Umar Amin (dont have a lot of players who might play till 30 overs, we lack here big time, other than Imam I have doubt with Shan and Umar as well)/ or an aggressive opener from above to partner Fakhar)

Babar Azam: Hussain Talat/ Saad Ali (This is also an area where we lack as other than Babar dont know a lot of players who are hungry for centuries at a decent pace)

Malik: Haris, Hafeez (An experienced player who can integrate the top and middle/ lower middle order) or Agha Salman (Might not be experienced but like the rest of the three can bowl as well and can play a decent knock as knows his game well)

Sarfaraz: Mohammad Rizwan/ Umair Masood/ Rohail Nazir (Good Keeper batsman)

Asif Ali: Sohaib Maqsood (Someone who can hit it big and can finish the match in crucial stages, Maqsood can atleast hit) This is another area where there is not much backup.

Shadab Khan: Mansoor Amjad (Leg spin all roundser), Ibtisam Sheikh (He can bat a bit as well), we have quite a few non leg spin options in Imad, Zafar Gohar and Nawaz)

Faheem Ashraf: Aamir Yamin, Amad Butt (Hammad Azam and Hussian Talat need to improve their bowling) or spin bowling all rounder from Mansoor Amjad, Zafar Gohar, Imad Wasim and Nawaz depending upon the conditions

Hassan Ali: Mohammad Abbas, Amad Butt (Righ arm fast bowler, not many around, Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Musa are upcoming but pretty new)

Amir: Shaheen Shah/ Rumman Raees/ Junaind Khan

Shinwari: Junaid Khan/ Shaheen/ Rumman Raees or a spinner from Yasir Shah, Usama Mir, Raza Hassan, Zafar Gohar, Mohammad Asghar depending upon the combination and conditions.

Mansoor ajmad is an off spinners. He has stopped bowling leg spin. abid Ali's fitness is atrocious just like israrullah and they both are not good enough for international specially israrullah. In addition to this abid Ali has around 70 odd strike rate if I remember correctly.

Alternative options are much better then them such as zeeshan Malik, nauman Anwar (should never have dropped him after 1 game ) Nasir Nawaz. These 2 are much better options then Shan, abid, israr etc. I do agree sahibzada is a good option but he needs to work hard.

In a long term I think both Nasir and zeeshan are better options then all you have mentioned especially potential wise.

For Babar you mentioned Hussain talat ( I like him) but not good enough yet for no 3 and saad Ali is more of a defensive Batsmen and doesn't have the range of Babar.

Saif badar will be good there but he has a lot of work to do. We need to find more players like Asif Ali who can hit I am sure we can if we look for them and give them opportunities which we are awful at.

Agree with a lot of the alternatives bar few who we are not good enough.

Are you sure Mansoor Amjad has left leg spin and now an off spinner? It pretty surprising.

Nasir Nawaz and Zeeshan Malik havent played a lot of cricket and that especially recently as I dont think anyone of these played in Pakistan cup 2018 and performed. So I was just mentioning those that have been playing cricket.

Saif Badar is yet to score a 50 in List A, let alone scoring centuries in international cricket and being considered a back up for Babar. He has just got 1 50 in first class cricket as a milestone. He has got talent but talent is useless if you cant convert it into runs.

Saad Ali has an avg of 48 and SR of 84 in list A and Hussain Talat has avg of 41 and Sr of 89. Yes both need to be groomed but if somebody has to replace Babar today it cant be Saif Badar .

Mansoor Amjad is an offspinner (again).

Nauman Anwar, Zeeshan Malik, Said Badar etc I have heard a lot about them and they surely are talented but with no performance what so ever to showcase at any level you cant expect them to be back of international players.

Yes we can add Saud Shakeel as middle order back up and Danish Aziz as Asif Ali kind of back up but atleast they have done something at domestic level.

Lol! I have never seen a bowler or an all rounder with this much amount of FC wickets changing his action at around 30 years of age.

Think he had some sort of finger injury.

If they are given the same opportunities as some of the rubbish players have been given then I am they will perform. But unfortunately they don't have connections like Shan to get games.

From his interview http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?273947:

“All I will say is that this injury has been a real source of irritation for me in the past 4-5 years to the extent that I had to abandon bowling leg-spin and start bowling off-spin in domestic cricket. The injury was in my right-hand which didn’t hamper my batting but luckily since I knew how to bowl off-spin, I was able to switch to a different style of bowling. Thanks to The Almighty that even with a change to bowling off-spin, in the last 2 departmental One-Day Cup tournaments, I have taken a total of 23 wickets and scored almost 400 runs whilst often batting in the lower order. Those who have seen me bowl have appreciated the fact that I don’t bowl or grip the ball like an ordinary off-spinner which in a sense helped me in switching between leg-spin and off-spin.”

Many others in Amjad’s position would have used the injury as an excuse to give up or a way of eliciting sympathy but as he explained, his mental strength as well as a good understanding of cricket was the main reason for his remarkable change of bowling styles which helped rescue his career, “to me this is a case of being mentally strong and having the ability to take on any challenge that life throws at you. In the case of switching bowling styles, the major issue is to know what field to set for your bowling and also the big difference is that leg-spin is an attacking style of bowling and requires that sort of a mindset. That is not the case when one bowls off-spin where the chances of being hit for runs is a little higher if you try and go for an outright attack, so you need to be a little patient when bowling off-spin. Thankfully, I understood all these elements of a spin-bowler’s game and was not only able to adapt to switching from leg to off spin but was also able to produce excellent results as well.”

I'm only bothering to say this because OP is usually a pretty good poster: some of these suggestions are beyond terrible.

Would definitely like to add Saud Shakeel to that list solid left hand batter. I really wanted Nauman Anwar to fulfill his potential but unfortunately he has fired in the domestic yet. Saif Badar, Zeeshan Malik and even Rohail Nazir need to turn it up in domestic man. The talent and potential is there, its just that they need to convert that into good numbers. Maybe they need a chance to showcase there skills in PSL. In which they need to play and play in there correct position.

Zeeshan mallik, Hasan Mohsin, Saud Shakeel, Saif Badar, Sahibzada Farhan, Hussain Talat, Agha Salman, Saad Ali, Nasir Nawaz, Zaid Alam, Mohammed Taha, Ali Zaryab, Ramiz Raja 2, Nauman Anwar,Umair Masood, Rohail Nazir, etc should be kept ready.
