Shaheens are struggling atm. 97/5 is the score that you would not want to see from a team.

Kamran Ghulam and Tayyab should build a solid partnership here to take Shaheens out of trouble.

Kamran Ghulam departs for a well-made 48 runs. Shaheens are 6 down for 161 atm...Still trailing by 97 runs.

2 more wickets fell in quick time as Shaheens are 8 down now. This is not a good going for shaheen after a great blowing effort, they let it slip away.

still trailing by 96 runs.

Shaheens are all out for 179 and Bangladesh A has a lead of 81 runs in the 2nd inning... This game could end with Bangladesh's victory.

Great start again by the Shaheens' bowlers. Khurram gets 1st wicket as Bangladesh A is 12 /1 atm

It is not going to be easy for Shaheens if Bangladesh manages to score 300 plus lead.

Would be a big upset if Shaheen loses to BD U23 cricketers.

It’s men against boys and we are still on the backside

Khurram Shazad is a good solid, FC bowler but he won't scare any decent bats on most tracks. What will be interesting is how Faisal Akram goes. I am not a great believer in picking Chinamen bowler as they generally bowl into the batsmans arc, and aren't a threat. What Yadav showed was that I may be wrong but it remains to be seen if other less talented can also be successful

Sahibzada Farhan at the end Day-2:

"We should have made small partnerships in this innings."

"At the time of Kamran Ghulam and Tayyab Tahir's partnership, it looked like we would take the lead, but this is cricket; we have learned a lot.".

"We will try to bowl out Bangladesh A for a minimum total to make it easy for us."

Update on Kashif Ali

Pakistan Shaheens fast bowler Kashif Ali did not bowl on the second day of the second four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’ due to a slight niggle in his right leg. Decision on his further participation in the match will be made following a fitness test before the start of Sunday’s play.

Bangladesh A is in a good position atm. Lead of 259 runs and still 5 wickets in hand. Shaheens really need to wrap it up asap.

Khurram has been picking wickets on this tour. He got his 3rd one of this inning as Bangladesh lost their 6th one and the lead is now 269.

Bangladesh was preparing for Khurram but Mohammad Ali came out of the syllabus.

Mohammad Ali cleaned the tail and 6-fer in the 2nd inning to keep Bangladesh A' lead to 295.

Pakistan Shaheens need 296 to win this game. Let's go boys.

Farhan is playing a great inning here. 66 off 64 balls and looking to go big.

Shaheens need 203 more to win. Plenty of time left, just need to be sensible and brave here. Shaheen can win this.

I mighty have jinxed farhan. He is gone for 68. Shaheens are 1 down now for 97 as Kamran Ghulam comes in.

199 more are required to win.

Kamran Ghulam also gone for 0....Shaheens 2 down now.

choke coming??

Pathetic. Umar Amin also departs for 0. What is going on here. Letting it go from their hands.

3 down for 100. 196 more needed.

Mohammad Ali’s six-fer, Sahibzada’s brisk half-century headline eventful third-day for Shaheens

Darwin, 28 July 2024:

Fast bowler Mohammad Ali had a field day against Bangladesh ‘A’ as he bagged a six-fer restricting them to 216 in second innings as Pakistan Shaheens were set a 296-run target on day three of the second four-day match at the DXC Arena in Darwin.

Shaheens require 160 more runs to win after they finished the day three with 136-4 in 37 overs. Skipper Sahibzada Farhan chipped in with a brisk 70-ball 68 hitting 10 fours and two sixes before getting out. He also shared a 96-run opening partnership with Haseebullah (44 not out, 98b, 6x4s).

Bangladesh ‘A’ bowlers further removed Kamran Ghulam and Umar Amin for ducks to reduce Shaheens 100-3. Mohammad Irfan Khan (15, 31b, 3x4s) was the last wicket to fall on the day before Tayyab Tahir (4 not out, 14b) joined Haseeb on the crease. The duo will resume the batting for Shaheens on last day with an uphill task of chasing 295 runs.

Rejaur Rehman Raja picked up two wickets while Hasan Murad and Mahmudul Hasan Joy dismissed one batter each.

Earlier, Bangladesh ‘A’ could only muster 132 more runs in 43.1 overs after continuing from their overnight total of 84-3 as they were bundled out for 216 in 70.1 overs with a 295-run lead. Mahmudul Hasan Joy (65, 118b, 11x4s) and Aich Mollah (58, 123b, 9x4s) registered half-centuries.

Mahmudul was cleaned up by Ali in 37th over breaking a 39-run fourth-wicket stand while Shadman Islam too fell prey to the Test fast bowler for eight-ball duck three overs later. With half the side back in the hut, Mollah and Shahadat Hossain (33, 55b, 6x4s) put on a vital 63-run sixth-wicket stand to help their team extend the lead.

Khurram Shahzad struck to remove Shahadat reducing Bangladesh ‘A’ to 180-6 in 59.2 overs. The remaining four wickets were poached by Ali in a marathon seven-over spell which began in the 59th over and culminated with his figures reading 6-63 in 24.1 overs.

The assault included double strike in 64th over claiming, Rejaur Rehman Raja (4, 4b, 1x4) and Mahidul Islam (13, 26b, 2x4s) followed by the dismissal of well-set Mollah in 69th over and Ripon Mondol in 71st. Among other bowlers, Khurram bagged three wickets while Faisal Akram had a solitary scalp to his name.

Yes. it was a strange selection. What is a guy aged 34-35 doing there? Should have sent some other young potential future star instead of him.

Haseeb should be looking to go big here. He has been quiet so far on this tour. Tayyab is also there so these 2 guys should take this game deep and win it.

Haseeb has the calibre he is likely to replace Rizwan as an all format keeper in Pak side. Needs to work hard.

I agree but needs to work really hard as a matter of fact all Pak players need to as the talent doesnt exist at all. Just watching the Indian team and no doubt pandya was right they have can have three teams all capable of winning tournaments

Way better option compared to Mohammad Haris
Somebody kill me if you're actually serious on recruiting him for the t20 side.

Test and t20 are very different formats. A t20 cricketer can improve their game by playing more fc and developing more shots like saim ayub or Haris.

A test player on the other hand like Joe Root will have trouble shifting over.

Hasebullah will completly botch it in t20

Was following the scorecard. Lost last 3 wickets in space of 3 runs after 60 run stand for 8th wicket between Mo Ali and Khurram

I am very surprised that BD won this. They generally get blown away in the longest format.

Upset definitely.

Embarrassing stuff. But doesn't hit anymore.

The men's, legends, women, A teams all have lost handsomely, lately.

It's a nation on the uprise.

It was kids against men and we still lost. We really need to invest in the U16 and U19 instead of wasting our time with 25-33 cricketers who are no way near International standards , Shaheen should be comprise of U23 cricketers only from now on.

Our domestic cricket is hogged by so called 25-33 age old cricketers who in actual age might be around 28-36 and almost 90% of the playing XI spots are filled by these age bracket ,it's very rare to have an actual U23 or U21 player playing in the domestic team hence we are not developing young cricketers to feed Shaheen or National team. All the U19 players from the last Worldcup are not getting in to any domestic team apart from Zeeshan ,Arafat ,Ubaid and Ali Raza who got few list A games under their belt this season but not a single U19 cricketer from the last batch has manage to get a FC game yet.

Moral series victory for Shaheens. Their victory was more dominant.

Cupboard is absolutely bare for PAK.

Every year there are dozens of cricketers ageing between 25-30 debuts in our FC and List A tournaments and ends up having mediocre stats at the end of the seasons , I wonder who these cricketers are? Are they even real cricketers or just some jobless persons using their connections to play domestic cricket?

Shaheens fall short in thrilling contest as Bangladesh ‘A’ level series

Pakistan Shaheens fell five runs short of the 296-run target as the second four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’ finished in a thrilling manner on Monday at the DXC Arena in Darwin. The pendulum kept swinging all day as Bangladesh ‘A’ bowlers took the required six wickets, striking at regular intervals, while Shaheens’ batters dug deep, eventually falling five runs short.

The fourth day’s play saw 56.2 overs bowled while Shaheens scored 154 runs. Bangladesh ‘A’ skipper Mahmudul Hasan Joy led the team from front with a match-winning five-wicket haul with his figures reading 5-21 in 13 overs.

At the beginning of the day, Shaheens required 160 runs to win with Haseebullah and Tayyab Tahir on the crease. Haseebullah (51, 120b, 7x4s) departed after adding seven runs to his overnight total of 44. At this point, Tayyab (43, 97b, 3x4s) and Omair Bin Yousuf (45, 103b, 4x4s) joined forces to stitch a dogged 65-run sixth-wicket partnership off 21 overs before the former succumbed to Mahmudul in 66th over.

Omair’s resistance too came to an end some 57 balls later when he was caught by Mollah off Mahmudul with Mohammad Ali on the other end and Shaheens requiring 65 runs to win. Khurram Shahzad and Ali produced a spirited eight-wicket stand of 57 runs which came off 93 balls keeping Bangladesh ‘A’ at bay.

Mahmudul cleaned up Ali, who had scored 21 off 63 balls hitting four fours, with Shaheens still eight runs away from win. Seven balls later Khurram’s 57-ball rearguard, yielding 28 valuable runs with the help of three fours and one six, was ended by Mahmudul.

Faisal Akram faced seven balls for his solitary run before he was bowled by Hasan Murad to give Bangladesh ‘A’ series-levelling victory. Mahmudul was aided by Rejaur Rehman Raja and Hasan Murad who returned figures of 3-85 and 2-62 respectively.

Please refrain from overreacting after just one loss; it was a tightly contested match. The main objective of cricket A tours is to assess the future prospects in comparison to peers and identify areas for improvement. The senior teams are closely matched, and the A teams are likely to reflect that parity. While the Bangladeshi players may be younger, they will undoubtedly be the fitter side, making the teams quite evenly matched overall.

I like what Gillespie is doing and I hope they plan many more A tours. The test team need to look to replace many of these overrated B-grade league cricket mercenaries who currently make up the Test team, with proper cricketers who actually love the game.

Pakistan cricket is finished. Top players like Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen will never allow young players to be settle in the team with their grouping and Clown Naqvi is failed to do anything. These people are after money. 2 good coaches will not do anything when whole system is rotten.

Can’t even beat Bangladesh A team now.
Ofcourse our A team is far more talented and experienced than BD A side , it was reflected in the previous match and this match was close too , but the point is we are not selecting the right and younger players who can be developed further , and that is the whole point of having A tours.

Fact that you have to make so many excuses to defend a loss to Bangladesh A team tells everything about the state of cricket.

corruption deserves humiliation.

Every loss is the slap on the face of Naqvi and those who brought him. Therefore I am cool with this.

Pakistan red ball coach Jason Gillespie shared his thoughts after today's narrow defeat:

"Just got to the end of Shaheen red ball cricket tour. There were mix bag of surprises, we won our first game and that was great but unfortunately lost today. Overall it was a wonderful experience for all the shaheen players. Quite an opportunity for myself to get to know the guys first of all and see how they go about training and preparation. How they go about their work on the field. It was a good learning curve for me plus the guys could have got a lot from this opportunity and that is what Shaheen tours are all about. Going out there in foreign conditions against different oppositions."

"Well there are a plenty of lessons to learn certainly from this game too. We played our top 7 (batsmen) from group of batting players. 4 of our top 7 got good start but none of them go on to score big scores. We have had some partnerships in middle of the road (Innings). Partnership in 40s and 50s that didn't tick off into bigger ones that could have put the opposition under great pressure. So there are lessons for our batters on how to get themselves busy (on crease) and try to put the pressure back on the bowling team that we couldn't get right in this game."

"So there were plenty of lessons here, was fun to get to know the players and the stuff too. So it was a wonderful experience here at Darwin in our home country. I know the boys really enjoyed it and i wish the best to the team for the white ball leg of this tour. Its gonna be great fun."
