What's new

Rajshahi Warriors (174/4) outclass Chattogram Royals (111) to win the BPL 2026 title

Glad to see a decent knock by Farhan

Need everyone to find as much form as poasible before the world T20.

I know not many would be following this, but Usman Khan is displaying some real shady batting.

Blatantly obvious what he was trying to do.

Usman khan playing upto his max ceiling .. yet another score of under 25 for him today in BPL

21 off 15 balls for him..

Quite obvious it was the latter, but I don't want to say it outright without any proof.

Ramiz's reaction was hilarious to say the least, I'm sure he realized what was going on :shappy
What was Usman exactly doing that made you think this way?

Saim Ayub has been disappointing , I expected better from him. Good thing my team got Omarzai, high quality match winner.

I think this is a good practice for the players because World T20 may have similar pitches.

BD pitches and SL pitches are often similar.

Sylhet do well in patches. They have never won the BPL. Can they do it this time?

Anyway, I root for Rangpur Riders.

Nope, never won it. Lost the final once in 2022, and topped the group in one season. This edition of BPL, could be the year.

Hassan nawaz wins the match for chattogram on a final ball 35 not out played the game to its situation showing its not all muscle has some game awareness as well

Aamer Jamal and Hasan Nawaz star as Chattogram Royals beat Rajshahi Warriors in BPL 2026

Pakistan pacer took 3/23 to restrict the opponents to a modest 128, while Hasan contributed with 35* (36) and (1/13), guiding his team to a two-wicket victory.

Aamer is currently 4th highest wicket-taker of BPL 2026.

I honestly dont understand why IPL and WPL is valued so highly. These T20 leagues are meant to be watched if you have spare time maybe on the weekends people can try to catch a game or two. But the real purpose is to see who has the most runs/wickets and emerging new players, etc at the end of the tournament.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mritunjoy Choudary should be developed into pace allrounders. Both can hit 140k speeds and can whack few shots.

BCB issues clarity on their Integrity Unit's routine operations

Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Integrity Unit on Sunday (January 11) mentioned that routine integrity operations in response to credible suspicion are being conducted for the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League under ICC's global integrity framework.

Recently, two franchises - Dhaka Capitals and Noakhali Express - took a swipe at the members of BCB's Integrity Unit (BCB IU), headed by its independent chairman Alex Marshall, for giving them a tough time in the name of investigation.

Dhaka Capitals chief executive officer Atik Fahad on Friday (January 9) publicly expressed his frustration over the activities of BCB IU during the ongoing BPL and threatened to quit BPL in future.

Fahad also revealed that IU officials entered Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz's hotel room early in the morning without prior appointment or informing the franchise management, leaving the foreign cricketer totally confused. It prompted Gurbaz to say that he will not come to the tournament if such thing continues in future.

Noakhali Express showed similar discontent with the activities of IU members that included lodging protests against a member after being harassed in the dressing room.

"Routine integrity operations in response to credible suspicion are being conducted for BPL-12 under ICC's global integrity framework," BCB said in a statement.

"Such measures by BCB IU are part of BCB's zero-tolerance policy and drive against corrupt cricketing activities. BCB IU operates in accordance with the general processes under prevailing anti-corruption code of ICC. Therefore, there has been no violation of the rights of any player or Franchisee Personnel by BCB IU team in any way," it said.

"These preventive measures by BCB IU have resulted in an approximately 80 percent reduction in alerts relating to suspicious activities," it said.

"As part of standard integrity procedures, several foreign players have been spoken to privately as witnesses in order to verify recruitment processes, contractual arrangements and payment structures. Such meetings are confidential and preventive in nature and do not imply that any player is under investigation or has already been found guilty," he added.

BCB reiterated about its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and said that they remain firmly committed to protecting the credibility, transparency and reputation of the Bangladesh Premier League.

Ihsanullah last over ruined a pretty good line but interesting to see he is still bowling at decent pace around 140 clicks and was able to trouble the batters.

Not a smart lad but tools are still there for him to make it work. Good pace, good height and can get the ball to seam. He has big no ball issues but PCB should at least try to work with him in domestic and see if he can become anywhere near the bowler he used to be. Likely just a T20 bowler at this point though.

This is a seriously shady league. Not sure why so many Pakistani players take part in it.

Most tail-enders can give it a whack. Even Mustafiz can hit sixes.

Only Nahid Rana bats like Chris Martin. LOL.

I think tanzim has good batting techniques for a tail-ender. Maybe he can become an all-rounder.

BPL performances should be categorically ignored when selecting Pak players for national team. Pak players, even mediocre ones, invariably do well in this tournament. Not rating success achieved in BPL at all.

Yes. You can say that. Quality is not very high. :inti

I guess players play in it just to earn some money. Also, BD use it to find T20 talents.

Most T20 leagues in the world are terrible junk leagues.

I personally do not watch BPL. My favorite league is BBL (Aussie league).

I agree. I don’t watch PSL either except watched some finals. Obviously want LQ to win but enjoyed PZ and QG winning too. I find t20 unsatisfying overall.

I also do not like T20. I am a cricket purist. Test is my most favorite.

But, I do not mind BBL. It is a professionally run league without the ghetto Indian dramas.

Rajshahi Warriors update:

Mohammad Nawaz won’t be returning to Dhaka after picking up an injury during the Sri Lanka series.

UAE captain Mohammad Waseem has left as his contract has ended.

Shahibzada Farhan, who had replaced him earlier, rejoined the squad yesterday.

Bangladesh Cricket Board sack director M Najmul Islam after players boycott BPL

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday removed director M Najmul Islam from all responsibilities, including his role as chairman of the finance committee, with immediate effect, following mounting pressure from the country’s cricketers and a review of recent developments. The decision was taken by BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul in what the board described as the “best interest of the organisation” to ensure the smooth functioning of its affairs.

"Following a review of recent developments and in the best interest of the organisation, the BCB president has decided to release Najmul Islam from his responsibilities as chairman of the finance committee with immediate effect," a media release by BCB informed.

The move came a day after the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) issued a strong ultimatum, warning that players would boycott the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) if Najmul did not step down before the opening match on January 14. With the tournament opener between Noakhali Express and Chattogram Royals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the standoff had threatened to derail the BPL.

The decision also follows widespread criticism of Najmul over controversial public remarks he made about former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal, whom he had labelled an “Indian agent,” triggering strong backlash from players and stakeholders.

In an official statement, the BCB confirmed that the action was taken in accordance with Article 31 of the BCB Constitution, which grants the President the authority to take such measures. Until further notice, the BCB president will assume the role of acting chairman of the finance committee.

"The BCB reiterates that the interests of the cricketers remain its highest priority. The Board remains fully committed to upholding the honour and dignity of all players under its jurisdiction."

"In this regard, the BCB hopes that all cricketers will continue to display the highest standards of professionalism and dedication to the betterment of Bangladesh cricket during what is a challenging period for the game, and will do their utmost to ensure continued participation in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)," the statement added.

NAJMUL MAKES CONTROVERSIAL REMARK

Earlier, while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Islam claimed that Bangladesh players would not be compensated if the T20 World Cup were eventually boycotted. On the issue of compensation, he went a step further by suggesting that if players demanded financial remuneration, the board should also have the right to reclaim money when players fail to perform on the field.

“This question cannot even be raised. We spend so much on them, yet they go to different places and fail to deliver. Have we won even a single global title to date? Every time, we could say: you didn’t perform, so return the money we spent on you,” Islam had said.

MEHIDY SLAMS NAJMUL

The remarks drew sharp criticism from within the cricketing fraternity, with Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz strongly condemning Najmul’s comments. Mehidy said the board earns its revenue only because the players participate in tournaments and represent the country. He described the remarks as inappropriate and unbecoming of someone holding a responsible position at the board.

“This is not just a personal issue; it is shameful for the entire sporting community. I don’t know how or why he made such a comment—whether knowingly or unknowingly—I have no explanation for it. From his position, such a remark is not appropriate. While holding a responsible post, one should not make comments like this,” Mehidy said.

The developments come amid uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup. After Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from KKR’s IPL 2025 squad, the BCB said the team would not travel to India and requested that their World Cup matches be moved to Sri Lanka or another neutral venue. The board has since written twice to the ICC reiterating its stance, with talks ongoing and a final decision still pending less than a month before the tournament.

Failed cricket like Mithun has halted BPL today. Mithun and his players political organisation has bad a bad move. The country at large knows the motives of the dal*l. The board member or director Nazmul Islam is a true patriot and said nothing wrong, as he was asked by the reporters many questions, like if Bd would lose much and if the players would be compensated by not going to t20WC, he (Nazmul Islam) said,
”Do the players return their match fees/salary after they lose and fail in tournaments? Despite so much support and money poured into bd cricket, given to them they haven’t won anything in return for the country like icc event asia cup. BD wont lose anything much, players might if you look at players prospective as the more the play more match fee’s they’ll earn and maybe win man of the match, if they do well”.

That has hurt the egos of the dal*l cricketers. Mithun is a crook, bcb must take strong action against him and ban him for life for such action during the countrys biggest tournament.

Recently female cricketers expressed sexual harassment by former cricketers in bcb set ups, by awami league backed members but none of the members of Mithun and his organisation came forward in stance for the female cricketers. Corrupt and selfish. They'll do anything that benefits them, dal*ls the lot.

Looks like the league has essentially stopped.

The director isn't wrong, how often do the Bangladeshi players win?

The same rules should also apply to the over rated over pampered Pakistani players

I agree with you. I don't think the director said anything wrong.

If players are not performing, they deserve to be criticized. If players cannot handle criticisms, perhaps they shouldn't play cricket.

In England or Australia, players get grilled mercilessly when they are not performing. They do not threaten boycotts despite achieving far more than Bangladeshi players.

I think player union in Bangladesh needs to be abolished. Unions are always bad news. My graduation was once delayed by a semester due to union strike. I dislike unions. :inti

Agree.

Mithun should be banned from BD cricket. What's his contribution? A big fat zero. :inti

Those who go against country should be banned from cricket. They can play gully cricket in Kolkata.

Politics aside, Nahid Rana should've gotten at least $200k-$400k contact in IPL if Pathirana can go for $2million.

Nahid Rana is not great in T20. There is a reason why he is not a regular in the T20 team. Even UAE smashed him.

He seems only good for Test for now.

@Mas-LFC

Sylhet went to the final. They are looking good to win their maiden BPL trophy. :inti

Sylhet is very balanced this time. Overseas players are experienced also (Moeen, Woakes, and Billings).

What an ending! One of the best in BPL history. Chris Woakes you legend! English import delivered big time. Six of the last ball needing 6 to win. Great stuff!

I think Sylhet Titans needs to play one of the loser of the qualifier match to reach final.

Just saw. Am at work. How did Chittagong beat Rajshahi and gone into the final. RJW looks much stronger side. Now Sylhet Titans vs Rajshahi Warriors for the last final place spot.
@sweep_shot

If Titans beats Warriors. We will have a new bpl winners this time. As both ctg and syl never won bpl before.

Thrilling ending. Got to say Waqar Younis made it so dramatically entertaining just like Bishops commentary on Brathwaites sixes against England in the t20 wc 2016 final.

Moeen Ali such a legend. He has close ties to Sylhet from his other half. He played a big part in bringing Woakes to Sylhet Titans, Woakes said in a interview.

T20 is a very volatile format. Upsets tend to happen more.

Good for CTG. Anyway, Sylhet are favorites to win BPL now. They have the momentum.

Rajshahi 165/9 got a good score on that wicket in the qualifier for final. Brought in Kane Williamson for this match and final if they get there. Made the difference scored 45 off 38.

Sylhet top 3 batsmen are local, two of them are just khets below average. Needed an overseas opener, Sam Billings could’ve opened up, even Moeen Ali. I don’t think Titans will chase this :(.

Williamson's experience came into play.

129 to win from 84 now. It is doable. They have 8 wickets in hand.

The two Kiwi lads did most of the scorings (Williamson and Neesham). Farhan and Tanzid also chipped in.

Titans knocked out because of Mehedi Hasan Miraz - most useless t20 bits and pieces cricketer. He contributed nothing with the bat and played like odi’s, look at Sheikh Mahadi the Chittagong captain he won them many matcheds with the bat. Sheikh Mahadi Hasan is miles better t20 cricketer, offspinner than Miraz. I don’t want to see Miraz ever again in the BD t20 squad.

I want Chittagong to win because of their captain Mahadi who has done a tremendous job as captain in t20s and is highly underrated off spinner and nowadays he chips in with the bat well too, like the last match that won it for them.

I don't know why Sylhet picked Miraz let alone making him the captain. ROFL. Big blunder.

Anyway, Sylhet were spirited this time. Much better performance.

Chattogram have never won the BPL before. Opportunity for them to win this time. But, I think Rajshahi are favorites.

Chattogram Royals vs Rajshahi Warriors BPL final 2026.

Rajshahi batting first.
Tanzid Tamim 61 ball 100.

Currently RW: 164-3 19th over.

Rajshahi Warriors scored 174. Target is 175. Am afraid Chittagong won’t be getting this, the wicket isn’t as flat, Tanzid batted superbly countered the spinners of Ctg well.

I guess. Advance congrats to Rajshahi Warriors. Hope am proved wrong though as I want Ctg to win.

Pathetic tuk tuk batting in the chase by Ctg royals. Baig is a test player never heard of him before but somehow found a team in bpl. Bpl buys unknown players even some unknown afghanis get in. About time they stop this, buy decent known players who at least done well in their respective countries premier t20 leagues or something.

Kane Williams never won a t20 league final before, lost 4 or something. This could be his first final win.

@sweep_shot

Ngl saw the new BPL trophy presentation, a chopper brought it into the ground with U19 captain who won world cup, female team captain. The trophy looks nicely designed and fancy. I like it.

Rajshahi are just 1 wicket away from clinching their 2nd BPL title.

Chattogram - 110/9 (16.5 overs).

Binura Fernando has been superb, very deceptive bowler. How and why isnt he un the Lankan squad. He is a clever t20 bowler.

Congratulations Rajshahi Warriors, the mango capital of Bangladesh. Well done on your 2nd BPL.

Never been to Rajshahi. I don't know much about that region either. All I know the region is good for yogurt and mango.

I have been to Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, and Barisal only. :inti

BD need to work on few players like Saifuddin, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Saqlain for their pace-allrounding capability. However, BD management is dud so nothing better is expected from them.

Times changed. New BD, new board president. Lets see if the new vision of bcb is any better in producing players and providing better guidance.

A stunning century from Tanzid Hasan guided Rajshahi Warriors to their first-ever Bangladesh Premier League title, as they overwhelmed Chattogram Royals by 63 runs in the final at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, the Warriors assembled a strong 174 for 4, thanks largely to Hasan’s commanding knock. The left-handed opener carried the innings deep, eventually falling in the penultimate over after crafting a superb 100 from 62 deliveries, highlighted by seven towering sixes and six boundaries.

The foundation laid by Hasan was reinforced by useful contributions from Sahibzada Farhan (30) and Kane Williamson (24) at the top. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto then added valuable late runs, finishing unbeaten on 11 off seven balls. For the Royals, Mukidul Islam and Shoriful Islam were the pick of the bowlers, grabbing two wickets each.

Chasing a stiff 175-run target, Chattogram Royals never found their footing and were dismissed for 111 in 17.5 overs. Mirza Tahir Baig stood firm at one end with a patient 39 off 36 balls, including two fours and a six. Asif Ali managed 21, while Zahiduzzaman and Hasan Nawaz added 11 apiece, but the batting line-up failed to mount any sustained challenge.

Rajshahi’s bowlers dominated the final, with Binura Fernando delivering a devastating spell of 4 for 9 from three overs. He received strong backing from Hasan Murad, who returned figures of 3 for 15, and James Neesham, who struck twice.

For his decisive innings at the top of the order, Tanzid Hasan was deservedly named Player of the Match in the BPL 2025–26 final.

Rajshahi have won the BPL twice. This is not their maiden title. :inti

Rajshahi had a different name before but it is the same team (Rajshahi).

Just realized Indian presenter (Ridhima Pathak) was asked to leave BPL after the Mustafiz drama in IPL. :murali

Good decision. BPL shouldn't invite any Indian presenter/commentator. They can be spies for BJP/RSS/RAW. :inti
