Bangladesh tour of Pakistan (2025)

I have absolutely no interest in this series. A rather pointless series in the middle of summer heat.

BD are without Fizz, Nahid and, most importantly, Sarkar.

This shouldn't even be competitive. PAK really should wipe the floor with this 10th ranked team missing 3 key players
FIzz may be. Nahid and Sarkar? they are the definition of medicore.. Nahid even with all the hype looks pretty average and would have been carted around

Sir, this is BD we are talking about. Nahid and Sarkar are far better than replacements who won't even make UAE 2nd XI.

That's how talentless they are :inti

Abbas Afridi replaces Wasim Jnr in Pakistan T20I squad

Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas Afridi has replaced Mohammad Wasim Jnr in Pakistan's T20I squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

Wasim Jnr picked up a side strain during the HBL PSL and was not able to recover in time.

Abbas has represented Pakistan in 20 T20Is having snapped 33 wickets. He was also the joint-second leading wicket-taker in the HBL PSL X with 17 scalps.

Why is fizz not available for this series?
He has recently played against UAE and later in the IPL . :kp

It is indeed a pointless series.

Then again, all bilateral T20 series are pointless to me.

As the great Michael Holding once said, "T20 is not cricket ..". :inti

Litton eyes strong comeback against Pakistan after UAE upset

Bangladesh gear up to face off against Pakistan following a shock series defeat to UAE in Sharjah last week.
Bangladesh’s skipper Litton Das is determined to move on from the recent 2-1 series defeat against the United Arab Emirates and focus on the upcoming challenge against Pakistan.

Following the unexpected setback in Sharjah last week, Litton is eager to lead his team with renewed energy as they prepare for a three-match T20I series against Pakistan.

"We were not up to the mark in the last series. This is a new series, a new challenge," Litton said in the pre-series press conference on the eve of the first T20I. "We know where we did well and where we did badly in the past. We will have to apply that [information] in the game.”

The Bangladesh team has come under criticism after letting a 1-0 lead slip against the UAE, ultimately losing the three-match series 2-1. In response, the skipper has stressed the need for greater consistency in their performances if they aim to compete with the top teams on the global stage.

"This is a different ball game. We, however, have the belief that we can beat any team in the world," he added.

"We have to play good cricket. We are not focused on the opposition. I am not only focused on the team's result, which doesn't always come your way. I think what's more important is how we are playing the game. If we can play sticking to a process, we will have more chance of a good result."

Bangladesh started the series on a strong note with a comfortable 27-run win in the first match against the UAE. However, lacklustre bowling performances in the following two games saw them fail to defend totals of 205 and 162, allowing the UAE to clinch a significant series victory.

"It is expected that there will be discussions and criticism when we don't play well. We always try to play good cricket. We don't want to repeat our mistakes of the past. I think we can have a good series," he further said.

"We would be among the top teams in the world if we were a consistent side. We definitely lack something as we are down in the rankings. We are working towards becoming more consistent. Every series presents a different challenge. We faced distinctive challenges in West Indies and UAE. How we accept the upcoming challenges and perform as a team is something worth looking at."

Bangladesh's batting department was also a concern during their series against the UAE. Apart from a century by Parvez Hossain Emon and a fifty from Tanzid Hasan, the rest of the batters failed to build on their starts. The skipper himself struggled for form, managing only 65 runs across three innings.

"I know how important my batting role is in this team," Litton said. "I will try my best to stay consistent. We have some good form players in the team. T20 needs a combined batting effort, so if we can do well together, we will have chance of good results."

The three-match T20I series kicks off on 28 May and concludes on 1 June, with all matches set to be played in Lahore.

This series is a golden opportunity for Pakistan to finally find some semblance of a core team that they can build around going into the T20 WC. I think on the whole this is the right group of players to be focusing on. Now you need to give them consistent chances so that they can establish themselves in their roles.

Nothing against Bangladesh but they are a horrible T20 team. This is easily their worst format and they are just coming off a series defeat against UAE. Anything less than 3-0 would be a major disappointment for Pakistan.

Yeah. I think test series would have been much more competitive with BD.

Mushtaq rues Bangladesh's lack of intent in run chase

Bangladesh spin-bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed lamented the lack of intent from his batters during their 37-run defeat to Pakistan in the opening T20I of the three-match series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.

Chasing a daunting target of 202, the Tigers faltered early, managing only 45 for two in the Powerplay. The situation worsened as the innings progressed, with the visitors scraping together just 81 runs for four wickets in the next 10 overs, effectively handing Pakistan the upper hand.

"Intent in T20s has to be there. When you are chasing 200 runs, you can't let the required run rate go over 13. If you take the average at 13, it will be tough for you," Mushtaq told reporters after the match.

"If you lose one wicket then there will be a new batsman and it will be tough for him. Tactically we were less smart today. It doesn't mean our batters can't score or chase 200 runs.

"The way Liton started, it seemed the game would be on our side. But 13-14 runs per over is too much. So as coaches, we need to speak to them and hopefully let them know to have better intent in the middle overs," he said, adding that Towhid Hridoy didn't get momentum in the innings.

Although the required run rate was almost 11 at the time when Hridoy arrived at the crease, the right-hander played a bizarre innings of 22-ball 17 and put the pressure on other batters in the big run chase.

"I think today he didn't get the momentum. But he is a very good player. He is a match-changer. When he strikes the ball, he strikes the ball very nicely. In the recent past, he has scored lots of good innings for Bangladesh. So hopefully he can learn from this pitch where the best option can be," said Mushtaq, who felt that Liton might have had more confidence in his spinners than pacers on that day, which is why he opted to bowl part-timer Shamim Hossain over their pacers Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Hasan Mahmud, with none of them completing their allotted four overs.

"I haven't spoken to him yet. But I think the pitch earlier on was tacky. It was swinging earlier on. It was a little bit on the slower side when we started. You saw Saim or Fakhar's dismissal. The ball was swinging, drifted a bit and obviously it was a tacky pitch for the first five-six overs.

"Then the pitch became better and better all the time. I think Liton might have felt confident about the spinners and that's why Shamim bowled four overs and he bowled really well. He brought us into the game. I was very impressed because this is my first time watching him [bowl]. There is a positive thing Bangladesh can see today—he can be a very good sixth bowler," he said, adding that they must learn from the mistakes of the first game.

"We didn't have two of our main fast bowlers—Taskin and Mustafizur. But still Shoriful gave us a good start. Then what Pakistan did today, I would say they had a good intent. Credit goes to them. But we have to learn from our mistakes. We have the potential to come back very hard," Mushtaq concluded.

The second match of the series will be held at the same venue on Friday.

BCB Chairman of Cricket Operations Committee, Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, shares his thoughts on PAK vs BAN T20I series:

"I must thank the PCB for organizing this series. I'm truly grateful to the people who have turned up in great numbers to watch the match. It's heartening to see them supporting both teams—not just Pakistan. Whenever Bangladesh performs well, the crowd rallies behind them too. It's a wonderful gesture by the supporters and the crowd. Absolutely fantastic."

"Fans of both sides are celebrating together, enjoying the game, and cheering for both teams. I’m sure that’s very encouraging for the players. There’s support for both sides, which brings great energy to the game and motivation for the players."

Great vibe.

It was a shame BD didn't play well and series was quite one-sided. But, crowds were excellent.

It's part of the game bro. But Definitely loving the Pakistan-Bangladesh vibe 😍

Yeah. It is great to see.

Pakistan cricket team have great support in Bangladesh too. Shahid Afridi had a big following in Bangladesh. So did Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akthar, Saeed Anwar, Inzi etc.

I fell in love with cricket due to Shahid Afridi. I used to try to bat like him during my younger days.

When I was a kid, I used to watch cricket with my father and his friends. We all used to root for Pakistan. BD didn't have ODI or Test status at that time.
