As full restoration of international cricket in the country continues, Pakistan will host Bangladesh U16 for two three-day and three one-day matches from 25 October till 8 November.

The Bangladesh side will arrive in Rawalpindi on October 22 for what is the reciprocal tour after Pakistan U16 toured Bangladesh earlier this year in April and May.

The five matches will be played at Rawalpindi’s Khan Research Laboratories Ground (KRLG).

During this time, Bangladesh women’s team will be in Lahore for three T2oIs and two ODIs against Pakistan women’s team.

After the success of Sri Lanka’s tour of Karachi and Lahore, this series is expected to further underscore Pakistan’s ability to host international teams and establish the country as a safe tourist destination ahead of Sri Lanka’s return to Pakistan in December for Tests and Bangladesh’s men’s team tour early next year.

PCB Director – International Cricket Operation, Zakir Khan said: “I want to thank the Bangladesh Cricket Board for sending their U16 side to Pakistan. Competitive age-group cricket serves great opportunity to emerging players to enhance their skills and at the same time it helps the selectors to identify the upcoming talent.

“I am sure this series will not only help both boards identify the future stars of their respective countries but will also establish confidence in Pakistan’s ability to host more top-flight cricket in the country.”

The junior selection committee, headed by Saleem Jaffar, also announced the squads for the two three-day and three one-day matches. The teams were selected after practice matches from the ongoing camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, which runs from 12 till 21 October.

15-member Bangladsesh Under-16 Cricket team are set to leave Dhaka for Pakistan tonight (Monday night) to play two three-day and three one dayers against their Pakistan counterparts, all at the Khan Research Laboratories Cricket Ground (KRLCG) in Rawalpindi.

Left-handed batsman Nayeem Ahmed is leading the Bangladesh team in Pakistan.

Bangladesh U-16 team will start their campaign taking on Pakistan U-16 team in a three–day match beginning on Friday (October 25).

The 2nd and last three-day match will begin on October 30.

The three-match one-day series between the two teams will be held on November 4, 6 and 8 at the same venue.

Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) waited for the green signal from the government for sending the U-16 cricket team to Pakistan till Sunday evening, despite of making all other arrangements for the tour.

Chief Executive Officer of BCB Nizam Uddin Chowdhury told UNB on Sunday, “A Bangladesh security inspection team is now in Pakistan. We’ll take steps about sending our team to Pakistan after receiving a report from them.”

U-16 coach of Bangladesh team Mizanur Rahman had also told media that the teenagers are focusing on the game.

“We’re ready to fly for Pakistan. As far as I know, the tour is confirmed. Thy boys are up for playing a good brand of cricket in Pakistan. They aren’t thinking about security or other things. They are just focusing on their games,” he said.

The women selection committee led by Urooj Mumtaz today announced the Pakistan team that will compete in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore from Saturday.

Bangladesh will play three T20I matches and two ODIs in their tour of Lahore, the series starts with the opening T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on 26 October.

The team was finalised keeping in view the performance of the players in the training camp that concluded in Muridke on Tuesday, while the core of the squad that has represented Pakistan recently was also retained. Former Pakistan players Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal are the other two members of the selection panel along with Urooj.

Chief Selector Urooj Mumtaz said: "We are delighted to host the Bangladesh team and look forward to an exciting series. It is the first international assignment for the team since the tour to South Africa in June. The team is a good blend of experience and young exciting players.

Bangladesh all-rounder Rumana Ahmed has returned to lead their one-day international side for the upcoming tour to Pakistan, after having recovered from the knee injury she had sustained before ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup Qualifiers in Scotland earlier this year.

Panna Ghosh is the other notable inclusion and is one of the only two medium-pacers selected for the five limited-overs games, alongside Jahanara Alam. Salma Khatun will lead the team in the three-match T20I series which will be played at Lahore's Gadaffi Stadium from 26 October. Rumana will then take the charge during the two-match ODI series to be played at the same venue.

Pakistan U16 to take on Bangladesh U16 in three-dayer from Friday

The Pakistan U16 will take on Bangladesh U16 in a three-day fixture at the Khan Research Laborites Stadium (KRL) in Rawalpindi from Friday. The Bangladesh U16 are on their return tour to Pakistan after beating Pakistan U16 2-1 in the three 50-over matches series and 1-0 in the two three-day match series at home in April-May this year.

The two teams are scheduled to play a series of two three-day matches and three 50-over matches from 25 October to 8 November, all five games will be played at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan is captained by all-rounder Aliyan Mehmood, who has featured in five 50-over matches and one T20 match for Pakistan at the U16-level. Mohammad Waqas is the vice-captain, who has featured in three 50-over matches and two three-day matches.

Pakistan will be banking on their fast bowling department with the likes of Ahmad Khan, Aseer Mughal and Khalid Khan. Abbottabad’s Ahmad Khan, has featured in six 50-over matches for Pakistan picking 14 wickets, while he grabbed four wickets from the two three-day matches in Bangladesh.

Rawalpindi’s Aseer Mughal was the most successful bowler in the three-match 50-over series for Pakistan against Bangladesh U16 with eight scalps despite the visitors losing the series 2-1. He also took seven wickets in the second three-day match which was a drawn match at Sheikh Abu Naseer Stadium in Khulna.

Quetta’s Khalid Khan took eight wickets with an average of 15.50 in the same series. His best figures of 5-33 in an innings came in a losing cause at the Fatullah Khan Saheb Osmani Stadium in Fatullah.

On Thursday, the two captains – Bangladesh’s Nayeem Ahmed and Aliyan Mehmood of Pakistan – had a picture opportunity with the series trophy with Aliyan hoping to play a competitive series.

Aliyan Mehmood said: “This is going to be an exciting series, as we will be playing a competitive side at our home ground. We have prepared really well for the matches, the coaches have worked really hard on us and we will come up with a strategy to start the series on a positive note.

National Women’s Cricket Team Captain Bisma Maroof says that the arrival of Bangladesh Women team to Pakistan is an honorable thing.

Speaking at a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Bisma Maroof said that Bangladesh’s team is Asian champion and that would make the competition tough.

“Holding an international series in Pakistan is very important. We want to play as many matches as possible so that our rankings get better,” said Bisma.

She added that both the batting and bowling sectors will be given priority while former captain Sana Mir will not be part of the team in the first match.

Bisma Maroof said that there was a shortage of backup players, we have to bring improvement to our team.

Talking about Nida Dar, said that it is a good thing that Nida has gone to the Big Bash League but domestic cricket should be given first priority.

On the other hand, Salma Khatoon, captain of the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team, said at the conference that we are thankful to the Pakistan Cricket Board as they invited us, we are much excited to play in Pakistan.

She further said that the series against Pakistan will prove to be good for the World Cup. We will try to improve our ranking by winning the series.

LAHORE - Pakistan women cricket team captain Bismah Maroof has said that the Bangladesh women team tour is a step forward in the full resumption of international cricket in the country.

Speaking at the trophy unveiling ceremony of Pak-Bangladesh series along with touring captain Salma Khatun, here at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday, Bismah said: “We are thankful to Bangladesh team for their tour to Pakistan to play three T20s and two ODIs and definitely this tour will supplement the ongoing efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for bringing international cricket in the country.”

The home captain promised exciting series and described Bangladesh as ‘tough opponents’. “We look forward to thrilling and entertaining cricket during the matches and we are confident that Pakistan team will excel in all departments of the game to aim for success,” she added.

Replying to a query, she said that Pakistan women cricket team’s main strength has always been its bowlers - both pace and spin attack - and called upon the fellow colleagues to demonstrate all-round performance to outsmart the visiting side. “It is not fair to depend or have reliance on one department. Out batters should also perform to share the burden as in today’s competitive cricket, every player in the team needs to perform to a higher level to enhance team’s performance.”

Pakistan will be missing the experience and valuable services of ace all-rounder Sana Mir and Nida Dar. Sana is currently on a visit of America to receive the Asia Game Changer award, which is a big honour not only for her but also for the country. Nida is currently taking part in the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia.

“Definitely, they are the experienced players and their absence will make a big difference but we will be working hard to fill the void,” she added. Sana is expected to join the team on October 26. Regarding Nida’s participation in the Big Bash League in Australia, she said representing the country should be the top priority for any player but it was PCB’s decision to allow her to play in the league.

Bismah said she is excited to play at home ground in front of home crowd as international cricket returns to Pakistan after a long gap. “Every player is eager to demonstrate best of her ability and all the players are passionate to put up good performance in their own arena,” she said.

Pakistan captain said the former foreign coach of the team, Mark Coles, helped a lot in improving team’s performance and was a great source of learning for the players.

Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun said they look to a tough and thrilling series. She expressed her gratitude to the PCB for inviting them to tour Pakistan. “I have good experience and memories of playing in Pakistan as earlier we played at Karachi, which was a pleasant experience.”

She expressed the hope that this tour will add to the experience and confidence of her side. “Pakistan is a superior side in view of their international ranking and definitely, the home side will be going all-out against us and they will be a tough opponent to beat in their own backyard. For the first time in history, Pakistan women will be in action at the home of Pakistan cricket when they will host Bangladesh women in a three-match T20I series on Saturday.

The two teams meet in the shortest format for the second time in 13 months after Bangladesh hosted Pakistan in a four-match T20I series in October last year, which Pakistan won 3-0.

The upcoming series also serves a perfect opportunity to the hosts to test their bench strength with their mainstay Nida Dar in Australia for the Women Big Bash League, while their most experienced campaigner Sana Mir unavailable for the series opener.

The T20I series is part of Bangladesh women’s 10-day tour in which they will also play two one-day internationals against Pakistan at the same venue.

With Pakistan slated to host world champions England in the ICC Women’s Championship in Malaysia in December, these matches serve an opportunity to get their permutations and combinations right.

In line with its policy to develop and promote women’s cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board will live stream the tour on its YouTube channel.

Ahmad Khan shines on day one of PakistanU16-Bangladesh U16 three-day match

Pakistan U16 fast bowler Ahmad Khan took a four-wicket haul as the visiting Bangladesh U16 side were bowled out for 204 on the first day of the three-day match at KRL stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday.

In reply, Pakistan U16 were 40 for four in 19.2 overs when play ended 6.4 overs remaining due to bad light.

After being put into bat, Bangladesh U16 opener Anik Chaki was dismissed lbw for no score in the first over with Ahmad striking on the fourth ball of the over.

However, Tanbir Alam Shah (11) partnered with captain Nayeem Ahmed to carry the score to 35 before returning to the dressing room. Nayeem andRadowan Hossan Siyam added 75 runs for the third wicket to take their side to 110 before the former got dismissed for 93-ball 54 which included 10 fours.

Batting at number four, Radowan Hossan Siyam scored 84 off 114 balls laced with 10 fours and four sixes.

Ahmad Khan ended-up with figures of four for 43 runs in 16 overs, while Ali Asfand and Aliyan Mahmood equally shared four wickets between them.

In Pakistan’s turn at the wicket, Bangladesh got a breakthrough early as opener Ali Hasan was dismissed for seven off eight balls. Mohammad Shehzad (19) and Haseeb Imran (10) carried the score to 40, but were dismissed before close.

For Bangladesh, Ahmood Sharif and Mohammad Musfik Hasan took two wickets apiece.

Bangladesh U16 ended the second day of the first three-day match against Pakistan U16 in a commanding position, taking an overall lead of 206 runs with six second innings wickets in hand at the KRL stadium in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

A total of 10 wickets fell on an action packed day two as bowlers from both sides tried their luck on a sporting pitch.

In the morning session, Pakistan U16 resuming their first innings from the overnight score of 40 for four were dismissed for 117 in 45.1 overs.

Ibrar Afzaal Khan top-scored with 51 off 74balls, he hit eight fours. Ibrar and Khalid Khan (seven not out) contributed 50-run partnership for the 10th wicket to rescue the hosts from precarious 67 for nine.

For Bangladesh, Ahmood Sharif picked four wickets for 24 in 12 overs. Amir Hossain Asif chipped in with three wickets.

Taking a lead of 87 runs, the visiting team in their second innings scored 119 for four in 62 overs when stumps were drawn.

Bangladesh captain Nayeem Ahmed top-scored with an unbeaten 47 off 150 balls laced with seven fours. Opener Tanbir Alam Sham scored 134-ball 42 and struck seven fours.

For Pakistan U16, slow left-arm Ali Asfand was the most successful bowler with took two wickets for 28 runs in 15 overs.

Bangladesh Women beat Pakistan Women by 65 runs in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2019 match played at the Navy Cricket Ground, Werisala in Sri Lanka on Saturday.

Pakistan were dismissed for 116 runs in 43.4 overs after Bangladesh had set them a 182-run target in the 48-over match, two overs per team were lost due to a short rain spell prior to the start of the match.

Pakistan got off to a solid start in their chase and had reached 48 for one in the 22nd over when opener Tuba Hasan fell for 21 off 61 balls. The middle and late order couldn’t offer much as Pakistan were dismissed with 26 balls to spare as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Muneeba Ali Siddiqui top-scored with 27 runs while Huraina Sajjad scored 23 runs.

Rabeya and Shaila Sharmin took three wickets each for Bangladesh.

Earlier in the day Bangladesh posted 181 for eight in 48 overs after they were asked to bat first by Pakistan captain Rameen Shamim.

Opener Murshida Khatun top-scored with 69 off 112 balls, her innings included seven fours. Fahima Khatun remained unbeaten on a 47-ball 34. For Pakistan Nashra Sandhu, Syeda Aroob Shah and Fatima Sana Khan took two wickets each.

Pakistan women made history on Saturday by beating Bangladesh women by 14 runs in the first of the three-match T20I series at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Playing their first-ever international match at the home of Pakistan cricket, Pakistan elected to bat after winning the toss.

Captain Bismah Maroof and Omaima Sohail crafted a gutsy 60-run partnership for the third-wicket after Pakistan had lost both openers inside three overs with just 15 runs on board.

Bismah cracked 34 runs from 29 balls, hitting six fours, to be the top-scorer from her side, while Omaima scored a 36-ball 33 with four fours.

Batting at six, Iram Javed struck two sixes and a four for her 21 runs from 17 balls.

That Pakistan women were able to set a 127-run target for the tourists was due to Sidra Nawaz’s four fours from her five-ball stay at the crease. The wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten 16.

For Bangladesh, right-arm pacer Jahanara Alam picked up four wickets for 17 runs in her four overs.

Bangladesh struggled from the onset of their run-chase.

Their openers Shamima Sultana and Ayesha Rahman were back in the pavilion in 2.2 overs as the scoreboard read six for two.

A 30-ball 50 – studded with six fours and two sixes – by Rumana Ahmed kept Bangladesh alive in the run-chase as the 28-year-old all-rounder batted till the last over.

She failed to receive the desired support from the other end with the wickets tumbling at regular intervals.

The next best score in the run-chase was from Nigar Sultana, who scored 17 from 30.

Marking her return to the national side, Anam Amin picked up two wickets for 13 runs in four overs, while all other bowlers picked up a wicket each.

Bismah, for her 34 with the bat and one for 26 with the ball, bagged the man-of-the-match award.

The second T20I will be held on Monday at the same venue and is scheduled to begin at 1000.

India Women beat Pakistan Women by seven wickets in ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2019 match played at the Navy Cricket Ground, Werisala in Sri Lanka on Sunday

India chased down the 107-run target for the loss of three wickets in 30 overs after Pakistan were dismissed for 106 runs.

Nuzhat Parween top-scored for India with a 68-ball 44, her innings included seven fours. Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu and Syeda Aroob Shah took a wicket apiece for Pakistan.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan lost half their side in 22.3 overs. Opener Tuba Hassan top-scored with 32 off 57 balls, her innings included three fours and one six. Tuba was the fifth wicket to fall, captain Rameen Shamim held the inning together with an unbeaten 31 (80 balls, two fours) but didn’t find much support from the other end.

Pakistan were bowled out in 46.5 overs for 106 runs, for India, captain Devika Vaidya took four wickets for 23 runs while Sushree Dibyadarshini took three wickets for 16 runs in eight overs.

Three-day match between Pakistan and Bangladesh U16 drawn

Lahore, 27 October 2019:

The first three-day match between Pakistan U16 and Bangladesh U16 ended in a draw at the KRL stadium in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

Resuming their second innings from 119 for four, the visiting Bangladesh side were bowled out for 200 runs in 95.2 overs. Bangladesh gained a 283-run overall lead, Nayeem Ahmed who scored 54 runs in the first innings top-scored with 73 runs in the second innings, his knock was studded with 14 fours. Tanbir Alam Sham scored 42 runs.

For Pakistan, left-arm-spinner Ali Asfand took six wickets while captain Aliyan Mehmood took two wickets for 32 runs.

Set a 284-run target, Pakistan batted resolutely in the second innings to avoid a repeat of the first innings batting collapse. Pakistan played out 43 overs scoring 112 runs for the loss of two wickets when stumps were drawn and the match was declared draw. Opener Mohammad Shehzad top-scored with an unbeaten 80 off 127 balls, his attacking innings included 14 fours and two sixes. Ahmood Sharif and Amir Hossain took a wicket each for Bangladesh.

The next match will be played from October 30 to November 1 at the same venue.

Half-centuries by Javeria Khan and captain Bismah Maroof helped Pakistan women to a 15-run win over Bangladesh women in the second T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and seal the three-match series 2-0.

Pakistan put 167 for three in 20 overs, their third-highest total in the format, after being asked to bat by Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun

That Pakistan put the imposing score was due to a 95-run partnership for the second-wicket between Javeria and Bismah.

Batting at one-drop, the Pakistan captain recorded her highest score in the format as she cracked an unbeaten 70 off 50 balls, studded with nine fours and a six. This was her 10th half-century in the T20Is.

Opening batter Javeria scored a 44-ball 52, hitting five fours and two sixes, before she lost her wicket in the 17th over of the innings to Bangladesh fast-bowler Jahanara Alam, who with two for 27 in four overs was the stand-out bowler for her side.

Bangladesh failed to get a solid platform that the run-chase demanded as both openers Ayesha Rahman (five off six balls)and Shamima Sultana (11 off 14) were back in the pavilion by the end of the fifth over as the scorecard read 25 for two.

With three balls still left in the Powerplay, Rumana Ahmed, who top-scored with a 30-ball 50 for Bangladesh in the first T2oI, followed Ayesha and Shamima back to the pavilion without scoring any runs as Bangladesh reeled at 25 for three.

With a 32-ball 45, Sanjida Islam put up a fight to keep Bangladesh’s hopes alive in the match. But, her stay at the crease was curtailed by Sadia Iqbal.

With the figures of three for 19 in four overs, the 24-year-old Sadia, playing her only second T20I, starred with the ball as Pakistan successfully defended their total.

Pakistan captain Bismah bagged her second player-of-the-match award on trot for her exploits with the bat.

Pakistan women defeated Bangladesh women by 28 runs in the third and final T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium to win the series 3-0.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan limped to 117 for seven at the back of Javeria Khan’s half-century.

The opener cracked a 48-ball 54, hitting seven fours. This was her second half-century on the trot after she had scored 52 on Monday.

The other notable performance with the bat came from Omaima Sohail, who scored 31 runs from 29 balls with two fours and a six.

Bangladesh’s pacer Jahanara Alam was once again the pick of the bowlers as she took three wickets for 12 runs in four overs, while Rumana Ahmed took two wickets for 19 runs.

Anam Amin’s left-arm spin put a dent in Bangladesh’s run-chase from the onset as she bowled Sharmin Akhter and Sanjida Islam in space of three deliveries in the second over of the visitors’ innings.

Bangladesh failed to recover from the early blows as Pakistan tightened their grip over the match. Anam and debutant Saba Nazir finished with two wickets each for 10 and 22 runs, respectively.

The best score in Bangladesh’s run-chase was 30 from 44 balls, which came from Nigar Sultana. With a 26-ball 27, Fargana Hoque was the other notable run-getter.

Javeria was awarded player of the match.

For scoring 108 runs in three matches at an average of 54 Bismah Maroof was named Pakistan player of the series, while Jahanara Alam bagged Bangladesh player of the series award for taking nine wickets in three matches.

The two sides now go toe to toe in a two-match One-Day International series at the Gaddafi Stadium to be played on 2 and 4 November.

Ayaz Shah claimed three wickets for 14 runs as Bangladesh U16 were bowled out for 108 runs in their first innings on the opening day of the second three-day match against Pakistan U16 at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

Bangladesh team from the start were never in a position to score big and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals after Pakistan captain Aliyan Mehmood asked the touring side to bat.

Radowan Hossan Siyam batting at number four top-scored with a 50 off 76 balls, hitting six fours.

Besides Ayaz’s three wickets, Ahmad Khan and Ali Asfand took two wickets apiece for 18 and 31 runs.

In reply, Pakistan were 127 for three, taking a lead of 19 runs, when stumps were drawn.

Ali Hasan top-scored with 59 off 81 balls, laced with eight fours and a six. Haseeb Imran (one) and Mohammad Shehzad (25) were the two other batsmen to be dismissed.

The women selection committee today announced a 15-player Pakistan women squad for a two-match ODI series against Bangladesh women.

Three changes have been made in the line-up from the one that swept Bangladesh 3-0 in a T20I series this week.

After participating in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup in Sri Lanka slow left-arm orthodox Nashra Sandhu, leg-spinner Aroob Shah and right-arm medium-fast Fatima Sana come in the side to replace right-hand bat Ayesha Zafar, slow left-arm orthodox Anam Amin and right-arm offbreak Saba Nazir.

After a successful maiden T20I series, Sadia Iqbal has got a call-up for the ODI team. The left-arm spinner took four wickets in three matches at an average of 15.

Keeping in view Pakistan’s final-round ICC Women’s Championship fixtures against England in December, the selection committee – which is led by Urooj Mumtaz and includes Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal – has jotted down a squad which strikes the balance of youth and experience and serves players a crucial opportunity to warm-up for the exciting series.

The two one-dayers will be played on 2 and 4 November at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

After securing a three-nil T20I series win, Pakistan women will aim for another clean-sweep when they will host Bangladesh women in the opening ODI of the two-match series at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Ahead of their next month’s final round ICC Women’s Championship fixture against world champions England in Malaysia, this series provides a crucial opportunity to the Bismah Maroof-led side to get their permutations and combinations right.

Pakistan are currently ranked fifth in the eight-team series and a win against England will see them secure automatic qualification for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2021 in New Zealand by breaking into the top four.

Bangladesh will take inspiration from the most recent ODI outing between the two sides in October 2018. The only ODI during Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh ended in the host’s comfortable six-wicket win.

The two teams have overall played eight ODIs with Pakistan having an upper hand with five wins. The remaining three were won by Bangladesh.

Saturday will also mark the first instance when Pakistan will play an ODI at the country’s home of cricket, the Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof: “We have two one-dayers against Bangladesh and our aim is to win both of them. The T20I series was our season-opener and we needed that win to get the momentum. Now, we have gotten it, we will look to make the most of it in the ODI series.

“Our one-day team has been doing well of late and the girls are ready to confront all the challenges that come their way. It was evident in the T20I series when everyone stood up and delivered in pressure moments.”

Bangladesh spinners dominate, Pakistan take 130-run lead

Ahosun Habib and Shamsul Islam claimed four and five wickets, respectively as Pakistan U16 were bowled out for 238 in their first innings on the second day of the second three-day match against Bangladesh at KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.

The play commenced after a day’s rest as Pakistan resuming their first innings on 127 for three were dismissed for 238 in 85.4 overs taking a 130-run lead.

Ibrar Afzal (47) and Aliyan Mehmood (32 not out) helped the team to post a formidable score.
Ibrar’s innings included five fours and a six.

For Bangladesh, right-arm leg-spinner Shamsul Islam took five wickets for 88 in 34 overs. Ahosun Habib with his slow left-arm spin grabbed four wickets for 63 in 21.4 overs.

In return, Bangladesh’s openers provided a confident start of 42 runs.

Pakistan women’s team skipper Bismah Maroof wants the revival of India-Pakistan cricketing relations by putting all political differences aside.

While talking to the media in Lahore ahead of their two-match ODI series against Bangladesh, Bismah said that India always brings politics into the game which is not right.

“The people of India and Pakistan love cricket. We all know how passionate people of both the countries are about this game,

“Being a cricketer, I also want to represent my country against India. In fact, players of both the countries want the same,” she said.

On the other hand, Bismah highly rated his team’s chances to win two-match ODI series against Bangladesh. She thinks that a couple of changes in the team according to the situation will help them fill in the gaps.

“We have made changes accordingly and I hope the girls will carry on the momentum,” she maintained.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan and Bangladesh will play first ODI on November 2 while second on 4.

The opener scored 68 runs off 97 balls, hitting seven fours, and stitched a crucial 61-run partnership for the third-wicket with captain Bismah Maroof (39 off 43) over the course of her stay at the crease.

Pakistan got off to a slow start and had only 59 runs on the board when they lost their first wicket – Sidra Amin, who scored 21 runs from 67 balls – in 20.3 overs.

That they were able to post a defensible total was due to a late surge by Omaima Sohail and Aliya Riaz.

Omaima scored 29 runs from 27 balls, hitting four fours, while Aliya, batting at six, scored 37 runs at a strike rate of 112.

Aliya’s 33-ball stay at the crease was studded with three fours and a six.

Bangladesh’s Jahanara Alam stretched her impressive form into the one-day leg of the tour as she was the highest wicket-taker in the innings with three for 44.

Panna Ghosh and Nahida Akter picked up two wickets each for 12 and 15 runs, bowling two and three maidens respectively.

Bangladesh stuttered right from the beginning in their run-chase and had their three batters back in the pavilion inside the first 10 overs.

Sana Mir made inroads in her first over, the second of the innings, with the wicket of Murshida Khatun (four off nine) and trapped Sanjida Islam LBW for duck in the second.

When debutant Sadia Iqbal accounted for Sharmin Akhter’s wicket in the penultimate ball of the 10th over, Bangladesh had lost their third wicket with only 41 runs on the board.

Nigar Sultana’s half-century instilled hope in Bangladesh’s chase.

But when she lost her wicket in the 47th over off Sana’s bowling, Pakistan had firmly gripped the match as Bangladesh required 40 off 21 balls.

Nigar hit four fours and a six and was Bangladesh’s top-scorer with 58 runs off 77 balls.

Sana’s three for 49 was the best in the innings, while Diana Baig and Sadia Iqbal picked up two wickets each for 43 and 38 runs.

For her exploits with the bat, Nahida bagged the player of the match award.

The second ODI will be played on 4 November at Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan U16 beat Bangladesh U16 by seven wickets in the second three-day match at Khan Research Laboratories Stadium in Rawalpindi to seal the two-match series 1-0.

Aliyan Mehmood took three wickets, while Mohammad Shehzad and Ali Asfand claimed two wickets as Bangladesh were rolled out for 227 in their second innings before Pakistan comfortably chased down the 98-run target.

Bangladesh had resumed their innings in the morning at 64 for one, with a deficit of 66 runs.
Their captain Nayeem Ahmed top-scored with a 136-ball 45 laced with six fours.

Aliyan, the captain of the home team who bowls off-break, was the most successful bowler taking three wickets for 40 runs. Left-arm spinner Ali and right-arm medium-fast Shehzad took two wickets each for 86 and 24 runs, respectively.

Pakistan suffered early hiccups in their chase as they lost two wickets with 15 runs on the scoreboard. But, an unbeaten 51-ball 43 by Abbas Ali ensured that the hosts crossed the line.

Abbas’ 82-minute stay at the crease saw him hit four fours and a six.

After the first three-day encounter between the two sides was played out a draw, this win helped Pakistan clinch the two three-day match series 1-0.
Both teams now feature in the three-match 50 overs series starting from 4 November at the same venue.

“Pakistan is a safe place for cricket and sports should not be affected in the name of security protocols," said Bangladesh Women Cricket Team Coach Javed Omar Balim.

The coach made these remarks while visiting the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) here on Sunday along with his team. Balim said their families were worried about visiting Pakistan but they have seen tremendous security arrangements here. Bangladeshi men national cricket team will be visiting Pakistan in January, he added.

Bangladeshi Women Cricket Team Captain Rumana Ahmed said they received lots of love in Lahore and they have enjoyed playing good cricket here. She said the security arrangements were of international standards.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistani captain Bisma Maroof said the best security arrangements have brought cricket back to Pakistan and “we are grateful to all security agencies for such support". Other women cricketers said the presence of a large number of women police communication officers in the PSCA workforce and their expertise are commendable.

PSCA Managing Director Malik Ali Amir told the media reporters that the security agencies are working as a team and “we welcome more countries to come and play in Pakistani grounds".

Both the teams were received and briefed by Malik Ali Amir, PSCA COO Akbar Nasir Khan and CAO Muhammad Kamran Khan. DIG operations Lahore Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, SSP operation Lahore Muhammad Naveed and PCB representative were also present. The teams were also taken to various sections of IC3 where they addressed the police communications officers.

Pakistan U16 beat Bangladesh U16 by 99 runs, takes 1-0 lead in 50-over series

Pakistan U16 beat Bangladesh U16 by 99 runs in the opening match of the three match 50-over series at KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi on Monday.

Munib Wasif took four wickets, while Ibrar Afzal scored 53 as Bangladesh were dismissed for 132 in their chase of 232 posted by Pakistan after the hosts had elected to bat first.

Mohammad Shehzad (40) and Ali Hasan (30) provided a solid 66-run start to the home team.

After the dismissal of both openers, the innings was consolidated by Ibrar Afzal who came to bat at number five and top-scored with a 70-ball 53 which included five fours and a six.

Pakistan were dismissed for 231 in the last over of the innings.

For Bangladesh, Ahosun Habib and Shamsul Islam picked three wickets apiece.

In the run-chase, Bangladesh lost three wickets for six runs on the board courtesy Muneeb’s fiery spell of bowling.

After Muneeb’s spell, the visitors were never in the hunt to win the match, and were bowled out for 132 in 40.5 overs.

Amir Hossain got retired-hurt for 19 and did not return to the batting crease.

Tawhidul Islam top-scored with 43 off 79 balls, he hit five fours and a six.

For Pakistan, right-arm pacer Muneeb Wasif finished with match figures of 4 for 44 in 10 overs, while slow left-arm spinner Ali Asfand grabbed three wickets for 15.

Bangladesh women overcame Pakistan women by one-wicket in a last-over thriller in the second and final ODI at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium to level the series 1-1.

In the last over, Bangladesh required three runs with last pair at the crease, and with the help of three singles, the last one coming on the penultimate ball of the match, the tourists crossed the line for a famous victory at the home of Pakistan cricket and in front of live-streaming cameras.

In their run-chase, an 82-run partnership for the third-wicket between Murshida Khatun and Fargana Hoque provided a solid platform to Bangladesh.

But, a flurry of wickets late in the innings saw Bangladesh slip to 205 for nine from 187 for five and gave Pakistan a hope of securing a clean sweep.

With 67 runs Fargana, later named player of the match, was the top-scorer in the run-chase. Her 97-ball stay at the crease was studded with six fours.

She was supported by opener Murshida, who scored 44 runs from 67 balls, hitting six fours.

Bangladesh captain Rumana Ahmed made a crucial contribution in the middle-order scoring 31 runs from 43 balls.

For Pakistan, captain Bismah Maroof and debutant Syeda Aroob Shah took two wickets each for 24 and 37 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan were all-out for 210 in 48.4 overs after opting to bat.

Nahida Khan scored her second consecutive half-century and crafted solid partnerships of 58 and 47 runs for the first and second wicket with Javeria Khan (24 off 33) and Bismah (34 off 53), respectively, over the course of her innings.

The right-handed opener scored 63 runs from 79 balls, hitting eight fours.

With 68 runs from 36 balls, Aliya Riaz was the second best scorer for Pakistan.

For Bangladesh, Rumana was the pick of the bowlers as she took three wickets for 35 runs in eight overs with her leg-spin, while Salma Khatun picked two wickets for 36.

Pakistan U16 beat Bangladesh U16 by seven runs on DLS method in the third 50-over match to win three match 50-over series 2-0 at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday.

The second 50-over match of the series was abandoned due to rain, while Pakistan won the first 50-over match by 99 runs at the same venue.

Bangladesh after opting to bat first were dismissed for 165 in 30.3 overs. The match had a delayed start due to wet outfield and was restricted to 31 overs a side.

Nayeem Ahmed, the visiting team captain top-scored with 45 off 52 balls, he hit four fours.

Arafat Islam (22), Minhajul Hasan (21), Radowan Hossan (22) and Tawhidul Islam (24) were the only batsmen that went into the double figures.

For Pakistan, left arm spinner Ali Asfand continued to shine with the ball as he took three wickets for 38 runs. Ahmad Khan, Ismail Khan and Mohammad Shehzad took two wickets apiece.

In return, chasing 166 to win the match, the openers provided a solid start to the innings. Ali Hasan (24) was the first wicket to fall on 61, leg-spinner Shamsul Islam dismissed him.

Mohammad Shehzad (32) was the next to go, he fell on the same score. His innings included three fours and two sixes.

Later, Rizwan Mehmood and Ibrar Afzal provided a valuable 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Rizwan scored 34 off 38 balls, he hit four fours. Ibrar remained unbeaten on 34 off 37 balls laced with three fours.

The match was stopped due to bad light in the 28th over when the home team had posted 148 runs for the loss of six wickets.

The match didn’t resume afterwards and Pakistan U16 was declared winners by seven runs on DLS method as they were seven runs ahead of the DLS target at the time of the interruption.

For Bangladesh, Amir Hossain and Shamsul Islam took two wickets apiece for 24 and 25 runs, respectively.

Earlier, Pakistan won the two three-day match series 1-0, that series was also played at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.
