PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed that the government didn’t arrest the leaders of banned outfits but took them into “protective custody” to save them from Indian jets.

“They have been taken into protective custody so that the Indian planes don’t blow them up,” Bilawal told reporters in Islamabad on Wednesday. The PPP chairperson was commenting on federal government’s recent crackdown against banned outfits, including Jaish-e-Mohammad and Jamaat-ud-Dawah.

On February 26, Indian planes violated Pakistani airspace and dropped their payload in Balakot before fleeing back to India. The Modi government said that the planes were there to target a seminary linked with Masood Azhar’s JeM.

The government has taken into custody hundreds of members of banned organisations, including Masood Azhar’s brother and other relatives in the last two weeks.

The PPP chairperson also lashed out at the National Accountability Bureau for “making cases to control the politicians.” Bilawal and his father Asif Ali Zardari recorded their statements at the NAB office in Islamabad Wednesday morning. They were interrogated for an hour and a half.

NAB had summoned the top PPP leaders in the fake accounts case and the Park Lane case. A Karachi banking court was previously hearing the fake accounts case against the former president and his close aides, including Omni Group director Anwar Majeed. However, NAB requested the court to transfer the case to Rawalpindi. On March 15, the court ruled in NAB’s favour and shifted the case to Rawalpindi.

Ahead of the appearance, a large number of PPP workers gathered near the NAB office and clashed with the police. Over 35 workers were arrested for trying to get close to the office gate.

Bilawal said that he didn’t give any call for protest ahead of his appearance and demanded that his arrested workers be released. The PPP chairperson said that the government doesn’t even tolerate constructive criticism, adding that a JIT should be made on the “benami” prime minister.

What kind of a statement is this?

Sounds like he's getting too many tips from Husain Haqqani these days.

Banning tomatoes also made sense to many Indians.

I laughed at India banning Tomatoes. Not at this.

Leader of a prominent party is accusing Pakistan of hiding Terrorists like Azhar. Its not some ordinary guy in the streets of Karachi.

He's pulling what Nawaz Sharif tried to do, make some anti-Pakistani comments in the wake of corruption investigation. This guy and his family should be locked up for stealing billions of dollars.

Precisely, pulling the same stunt.

At the same press conference, he was insisting that Abbu is clean as a whistle :91:

wow. Does he know what he is saying?

If Sharifs and Zardaris are not not allowed corruption in Pakistan then they turn against Pakistan?

Spoke the truth, and we are throwing a tantrum and calling him anti-Pakistan. Typical.

His comments give more weightage to the Indian account of events. As someone said he is not some ordinary conspiracy theorist roaming in streets of Pakistan . He will be leading his party and the country in the coming years which is one of the biggest parties in Pakistan.

PTI fans will do well not to give certificate of Patriotism to everyone who doesn't align with their line of thinking, for all you know PTI might not even be ruling the federal government in next elections.

His party is dead and only the Sindhi slaves vote for that obsolete party. Even among them it is losing support

No one in Pakistan takes Bilawal seriously

What makes you think it is the truth that Indian planes would have blown up these alleged terrorists? They failed on their first mission when they had the element of surprise, in fact they got their behinds spanked in the only dogfight between Pakistan, so what are you basing your assumption on?

He was moaning like a baby today because of investigations against him & his family are picking up pace, same kind of trajectory was seen when Nawaz & co were being investigated and reached the logical conclusion of conviction.

He also said that never in the history of Pakistan has the opposition political parties get on the same page as fast as they've now and this statement tells everything about this sorry excuse of an opposition.

There was a lot of other nonsense that he spewed today but it's too long to list.

Precisely. No one outside of India and their cheerleaders on here takes the Indian version of events seriously so this is going to do his party more harm than good.

Anyway...welcome new member!

He won't be leading the country.

His party is dead party, no one of his age in Sindh supports him.

No one is asking him to leave Pakistan just because out of desperation he made comments that aren't true. PTI and other are asking him and his father to be accountable to corruption.

You couldn't be that gullible but again you are from India.

No one is asking him to leave Pakistan just because out of desperation he made comments that aren't true.

Zardari, Sharif, Musharraf, Biliwal, Haqqani .. all people who were part of the establishment at one point in time have admitted to the state's role with terror groups. But I guess you know better.

We only repay with interest what India does. You did "sir ji kal strike" in the middle of night on some trees, we came into your house in the middle of the day and bombed close to where your IAF command was having a meeting, then on the way back we shot down two of your jets. In your panic you even shot down your own helicopter.

#At time and place of our choosing

This sounds very plausible considering how the establishment has always protected these extremists.

I don't understand your comment.

But you being Indian explain your gullibility and naivety which equals to ignorance relating to Pakistan.

Billo Sahib said the radicalized extremists are arrested because Pakistan is trying to protect them from Indian jets.

Now anyone with a tiny brain would and could understand that it isn't true for obvious reason that Indian air force, Indian army, and RSS isn't capable of doing that.

He is simply saying that to create chaos and get support from international community out of desperation because he knows that daddy Zardari and his time is up.

You will never be president with this kind of comments. You are not pleasing the right people, who will make you a president.

I always wondered that why Pakistan govn't waited this long (basically after India revealed that it was JeM who were after the attack) to arrest these banned outfit leaders? Didn't IK want peace with India at any cost?

Sounds like he has lapped up India's story of carrying out "surgical strikes" (After all, his Urdu is probably at the same level as the "Urdu" in India's "Janaab, bohut bomb fatte hain janaab", "evidence" video).

Then again, he also believes that Zardari is innocent. There really is no cure for delusion. :)))

This statement from Bilawal sb should be used in the UN as evidence to implicate Pakistan and to isolate it globally.

Everything will be brushed under the carpet once the situation stabilizes. The military rules the country and it is not in their interest to purge these extremists. Unless there is a strong general like Musharraf who really wants to do the cleanup, nothing will happen.

Just because they botched up one mission doesn’t mean that they will botch it again. After downing two jets, Pakistanis think they are invincible.

Our over-confidence is amusing, but it appears that our government and armed forces have better sense which is why they are taking necessary defensive and precautionary measures.

In a full-blown war, India will always have the upper hand as has been the case throughout its history, but India also knows for a fact that although as country, Pakistan is in the dumps, it’s armed forces are still top notch.

As a result, neither country can afford escalation which is why both countries are on their toes. For the same reasons, we will not witness state-sponsored terrorism in J&K for a long time now.

If army rules the country why is it that PM IK seemed the guy in complete control during the India standoff and why is it that he summoned all three chiefs and joint chief is staff to HIS office today?

You can trust Nooras to always come up crappy logic.

How does it prove anything? Imran and Military are just on the same page this time. No government has survived after having a serious conflict of interest with the army.

Opposition will make anti Pakistan statements to remain relevant and to protect their corruption. Treasonous stuff. You don't see any Indian opposition politician talking about Shiv Sena, RAW activties in Pakistan in cheap attempts for political mileage.

Just because they botched up one mission doesn’t mean that they will botch it again. After downing two jets, Pakistanis think they are invincible.

No!, you believe that Pakistani believe they are invincible, Pakistan's government, Army and the people of Pakistan continue to promote dialogue. Please do not project your thinking on other.

Our over-confidence is amusing, but it appears that our government and armed forces have better sense which is why they are taking necessary defensive and precautionary measures.

Again, only you believe that Pakistani believe they are over-confidence, majority of Pakistani do not want war, hence the arrests were made not to just avoid war but to destroy radicalized extremists hindu nationalists party narrative, who want a war to win an election.

In a full-blown war, India will always have the upper hand as has been the case throughout its history, but India also knows for a fact that although as country, Pakistan is in the dumps, it’s armed forces are still top notch.

Pakistan will continue to support morally, Pakistan has stop military support in Kashmir in late 90's and Pakistan has no wish to give military support to Kashmir, those are the words of A.S Dullat, Indian ex RAW chief.

Have a great day

Why is it that the first time we have had a sincere and honest government it is working smoothly with the army? While when we had looters and plunderers there was always friction with the army?

Now put some of your mind into it and think why the corrupt politicians couldn't co-exist with the only institution that is loyal to the country.

This swine should be put up in jail .He is reading the scripts of mossad,CIA and raw.And talking about banned outfits i think its time to make the uzair baloch report public and put all those behind death row for the damage they have caused to pakistan and its people.

Why are you hoping for conflict?

Arresting radicalized extremists, eliminating terrorism, bring foreign investment, holding corrupt politician accountable, isn't that what every Pakistani want from their government.

So if military and civilian government is on the same page regarding those issue then how is this a bad thing?

Understand, Pakistan is a different country, Pakistan's military will always be relevant in Pakistan's foreign policy.

Pakistan isn't India where Pakistan civilian government has to start war to win election.

The kashmiris will themselves rise against the indian forces we don't need jem.

lol . You spoil the sentiment . PA which is the Establishment is protecting it's strategic assets :)

Indian Army suppose to protect its border now trying a start war to protect its radicalized extremists hindu nationalists.

The previous two governments worked well the army and hence they completed their terms. As long as you keep the generals happy, your government is safe. A thug like Zardari survived as president. If you act like Nawaz Sharif in 1998/99 and go completely against the army, you will face the consequences.

The current government may be sincere but the true ruler of the country has always been the army and it is not going to change anytime soon.

Sure.

You call them terrorist when it doesn't serve your interest.

You call them freedom fighter when it serve your interest.

At least Pakistani army isn't bending over to help win a radicalized extremists hindu nationalist election.

Between almost every geo-political nations at some point of their history has supported proxy groups, including India.

Your narrative only work on gullible, naive, hindu nationalists to recruit them for RSS.

I want government and the military to work together and do what is best for Pakistan. However, some people are under the impression that Imran is in control which is completely false. Imran's government has executive powers to run the country but when it comes to defence related matters, the army is always the decision maker.

yup , we have lot of internationally banned terrorist groups ... & yes , Laden was hiding just outside a military cantonment in India when struck dead :)

How does it prove anything? Imran and Military are just on the same page this time. No government has survived after having a serious conflict of interest with the army.

Most of the superpowers including usa, china, russia etc etc are governed by military diplomacy with the armed and intelligence forces dominating global politics.Only our media and paid politicians portray this in a negative sense.

Again, none of that matter or should matter to any Indian. Finding Bin Laden in Pakistan was Pakistan's issue, not Indian.

The only thing should matter to Indian is that an Indian Army is going to a war with Pakistan to help elect a radicalized extremist hindu nationalist.

understand that usual (most) Pakistani public is happy seeing terrorism spread across India, as the most wants to support their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and muslims of India and they want to take revenge, As the most are quick to forget that what was happening to country about a decade ago. They are quick to forget Peshawar school attack, as long as there Pulwama.

The way indian media drills BJP and question their motives, Pakistani media is very reluctant to go against Pakistan - India foreign policies. Politicians who will go against Pakistan army will never be at helm. Rahul Gandhi is ridiculoued a lot by BJP bhakts, but lots of support is there for him too, especially major media in India and lots of big celebraties echos his views. So, overall there is good balance to question BJP. The way PPP and Nawaz have gone, there is literally no one who can challenge PTI. Post Attack drama has made IK even more popular. And I am very glad that he is getting this power honestly, as I still haven't given hope.

I just want to see how he uses this public support and political power to influence Pak army. Pakistan and China's conflict of interest is right there for world to see, the way they are protecting these leaders. Even then Pak public is happy to accept this and see that as a patriotic move. But these snakes will never think for a sec. if given enough funding they will come back and bite back their own masters. And we saw that just about few years ago. Ik's power has come with a massive responsibility.

Your knowledge on these matters seems very weak. I'll let you live in your own delusions. Don't have patience to educate every "expert".

The country has seen 3 military coups and several other attempted coups. The army crossed LoC several times without informing the civilian government. The military has constantly involved itself in the matters of civilian government throughout the history of Pakistan but hey what do I know?

Nawaz Sharif who won over 70% mandate in mid-90s and had the full support of the army and yet he had to see his government fall when he went against the army. Some people here think that Imran's weak government has army under control are the most delusional people in the world.

Next time just say it is your opinion rather than voicing it as "the truth". Your opinion being effectively, 'well just because they failed twice doesn't mean they will next time'.

Bilawal can keep attempting to be voice of India, good luck to him and his supporters in Pakistan, but my view is that Pakistanis will not trust India with their affairs while they are attempting stupid military stunts like the tree bombing at election time. Good day to your sir.

Bhuttos and Sharifs are irrelevant in naya Pakistan. They often cry from time to time just to remain in news.

No! stop lying, try to talk to Pakistani, speaking against Indian army for the indsicriminate killing of kashmiri isn't synonymous to being happy, it is most pathetic thing you have said.

No one thinks that.

But everyone understand how the system in Pakistan works according to the need of Pakistan.

What you are doing is regurgitating talking points that you probably heard somewhere, you have no presented any thoughtful insight regarding Pakistan's affairs and politics.

Imran will know his place as soon as he goes against the army. Democracy in Pakistan cannot be compared with India. The Indian army has always operated under the civilian government which has resulted in zero military coups and no involvement of the military in political matters. Pakistan need at least another decade of strong democracy before civilian government becomes strong enough institution to have real control over the army.

The extremist elements should be purged. There is no doubt about it. It is also in Pakistan's best interest. Better relationships with its neighbors will give Pakistan some breathing space to focus on other matters.

Pakistan civilian government and Pakistan is on the same page regarding the needs of Pakistan. you can deny and regurgitate any talking point to show your naivety.

No poster has said that Imran khan is in complete control of military.

Everyone has said that Pakistan's civilian government and military are on the same page to make Pakistan a better country but you fail to see that just because your saw the word militant, Army, Imran khan.

It is true but they have almost zero involvement in the matters of civilian government. They never overthrow elected governments.

Yes they are happy for revenge to be taken against Indian army. That's the general sentiments.

Majority of pakistan's population support Pak army, because they are their only protectors. I said politicians don't have balls to question Pak. army. Where our army can be questioned left and right, because enough freedom has been given. Even our major opposition party has ridiculed and question our army, no matter how strongly elected BJP is. That's the difference.

Didn't China recently block UN to put some terrorist name to banned list EVEN after the attack? Why Pakistan have to even detain these outfit to put under watch if they are innocent? Why fake drama for the world?

I have already said that the military and government are on the same page at this moment. I do not understand what is your point of disagreement.

I think you jumped on the discussion without fully understanding it. Read the previous posts again. Plenty of posters have claimed that this is new Pakistan and that Imran's government is in full control.

I do not think, I know that you are tying to jump on the discussion to regurgitate what you believe in without understanding the current civilian government and military of Pakistan.

Imran government is in fully control because both the army and civilian government wants the same things for Pakistan, hence new Pakistan.

why is that so hard to understand?

If Imran's government were to go against he prosperity and national security of Pakistan then i expect the military of Pakistan to take action against Imran Khan's government.

You are getting confused.

“There are militants/terrorists under the care of our intelligence and we are protecting them from India”

That is a fact.

“India will not botch another mission if they decide to attack again”

That is an opinion.

This just proves how much self interest this clown has. He is only saying this to stir up controversy over the fact nab is shaking him. His grandfather and his mom both represented Pakistan and for him to make anti Pakistan remarks like this, just proves all these people are in it for themselves and don't have the best interest of the nation.

But wait what will happen to the claims that "Indian army is the puppet ot government" and "Modi wants war to win elections". There are plenty of threads like these on PP. You can't have it both ways.

There is no comparison between Indian and Pakistani democracy.

Little Billo making up stories again.

His only supporters seem to be those whose personal incomes benefits from having corrupt criminals in charge.

Except that's not what Bilawal said, his actual quote was:

“They have been taken into protective custody so that the Indian planes don’t blow them up,”

If you can prove that is the truth as you claimed then please do so in your next post and provide some verifying material.

You are wasting your time. Our friends here thoroughly believe in severe delusions.

1. Imran's government is in full control.
2. Under Imran's leadership, the military will be forced to purge all extremist elements.
3. Since PAF downed two IAF jets and captured an Indian pilot, India does not stand a chance in a full fledged war against Pakistan.
