So no English players in this list?

For the first time in 10 years, neither Ronaldo nor Messi are included in the year's top 3 players. :broad

Lewandowski testimonials
2020 final highlights: Paris 0-1 Bayern
"He works so hard for the team. He is important for our defence as he provides support and nothing needs to be said about how much danger he poses in front of goal. He is very professional and works extremely hard. He is the best central striker in the world."
Hansi Flick, Bayern coach

"I haven't seen a better player all year. He sacrifices so much for success and, for me, he absolutely deserves to be called the best footballer in the world."
Lothar Matthäus, former Bayern and Germany captain

"He is arguably the best professional I have ever come across here. His diet, his lifestyle… Everything is dedicated to success. The question is whether Robert at 35 will be even better than Cristiano Ronaldo at 35."
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern CEO

Lewandowski hits 250th Bundesliga goal in Bayern win

Robert Lewandowski scored twice to pass the 250-goal mark in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich came from behind to end Wolfsburg's unbeaten start.

The 32-year-old Poland striker becomes just the third player to reach the landmark in the German top flight, after Gerd Muller and Klaus Fischer.

Maximilian Philipp had put the visitors in front after just five minutes.

But Lewandowski grabbed his 250th Bundesliga goal as he levelled with a header in first-half added time.

Five minutes after the break came his 251st, with Lewandowski darting clear to beat Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

It was his 18th goal of the season for Bayern in all competitions and he has now scored 73 goals in 64 competitive club games since the start of the 2019-20 season.

The win keeps Bayern one point behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Robert Lewandowski: Bayern Munich striker wants new challenge

Robert Lewandowski wants a new challenge away from Bayern Munich but the club has valued him at more than £100m.

Sky Sports News has been told Lewandowski, who turns 33 on Saturday, is happy at Bayern but wants to secure a move to another top European club before the age of 35.

The German champions' valuation, designed to keep him until the end of his contract in 2023, is likely to price the FIFA and UEFA player of the year out of a departure.

Bayern have not currently offered any extension beyond his current deal, when it could be more difficult to secure a move to another big club because of his age.

The Poland striker is understood to be frustrated by their reluctance to sell, but is unlikely to do anything that will harm his good relationship with the club.

Considered one of the best strikers in world football, he scored 56 goals for club and country last season.

He has already scored three in Bayern's two opening games, including the midweek Super Cup victory against Borussia Dortmund.

Lewandowski is widely renowned in the game for a dedication to his physical condition, with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola once describing him as "the most professional player I've ever met".

Robert Lewandowski has told Bayern Munich he will not extend his contract beyond the end of the 2022/23 season, according to Sky in Germany.

The prolific Poland striker has told the club he is looking for a new challenge and there is little in the way of financial motive in his decision not to extend his stay.

Sky in Germany further report that Lewandowski would like to move to Barcelona this summer rather than wait to become a free agent.

Robert Lewandowski: Poland forward hints he could have played his last Bayern Munich game

Robert Lewandowski has hinted he has played his last game for Bayern Munich after telling the German side he will not sign a new contract with the club.

As Sky Germany revealed earlier this week, the Poland forward has informed Bayern he is looking for a new challenge, despite having a contract at the Allianz Arena until the end of the 2022/23 season.

There is little in the way of financial motive in his decision not to extend his stay and Sky Germany revealed Lewandowski would like to move to Barcelona this summer rather than wait to become a free agent.

After Bayern's 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg on Saturday - in the final round of Bundesliga fixtures of the current campaign - Lewandowski confirmed he has asked to leave the club.

"I can confirm that I spoke to Hasan [Salihamidzic, Bayern sporting director] and informed him that the decision was made - and that I am not extending my contract with FC Bayern," he told Sky Germany. "Both sides have to think about the future. It's best if we find the best solution for both sides."

"I said to [Salihamidzic] that if an offer comes, then we have to think about it - also for the club. Both sides have to think about the future. That's all I can say.

"I still have a year's contract [left at Bayern]. But I said that we have to find the best solution for both sides. We'll have to wait and see what happens."

Lewandowski then told Viaplay after the same game: "It's quite possible that it was my last game for FC Bayern. I can't say 100 per cent, but it could be. We want to find the best solution for me and the club."

Would love to see him in the Premier League to gauge how good he is.

Plenty of goals for Poland and Bayern and I'm sure he'd be a success in the EPL.

Chelsea could join Barcelona in the race to sign Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski, 33. (Guardian)

Striker Robert Lewandowski has said his "story is over" at Bayern Munich as he seeks a move from the German champions this summer.

Lewandowski has a year left on his contract, but earlier this month Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic said that the 33-year-old had expressed a desire to leave.

Lewandowski has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.

"One thing is certain today, my story with Bayern is over," he said.

Speaking on international duty with Poland, he added: "After everything that has happened in recent months, I cannot imagine further good co-operation.

"I realise a transfer will be the best solution for both sides."

Lewandowski joined the club in 2014 from Borussia Dortmund and has won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2020.

He scored 50 goals in 46 games for Bayern this season, and has scored 344 goals in 375 games during his eight-year stay, a total second only to Gerd Muller at the club.
