It is an extremely difficult task for asian teams to travel SENAW nations and perform well. Asian teams have rare series wins in those countries. It is considered significant achievement for any asian side even to draw series in those alien conditions.
India is the only country to beat Australia in Australia while Sri Lanka remains only nation from subcontinent to win series in South Africa.
Pakistan have always performed well in England.
Asian teams have fared well recently in West indies as it become a weak team but beating New Zealand in their home is still tougher task.

I have made a combined team of asian players who did great jobs while touring these difficult countries. This team consists of some absolute legends of the game with some surprise selections.
My criteria for selection was mainly stats and impact.

Sunil Gavaskar
3858 runs, 51.57 average, 15 hundreds
No Asian team can be completed without Gavaskar opening in it. This legendary opener was highly impressive in West Indies, England and Australia. His performance in his debut West Indies tour was nothing short of miracle.

Rahul Dravid
5420 runs, 53.13 average, 13 hundreds
Sadly, i find no suitable regular opener to partner Gavaskar at the top. So, i went with Rahul Dravid as makeshift opener. Dravid has highest average by Asian in these countries although his returns in South Africa and Australia were modest.

Kumar Sangakkara
2764 runs, 44.58 average, 7 hundreds
Surprisingly, Sangakkara's average in these countries is way below than his career average. But, he has played some classic innings in England and Australia.

Sachin Tendulkar
6007 runs, 50.90 average, 18 hundreds
Sachin Tendulkar's record in SENAW countries is another proof why he is labelled as Greatest ever batsman from Asia. This right hander has scored most runs and centuries by an Asian in these countries.

Virat Kohli
3570 runs, 43.53 average, 12 hundreds
Mid 40s average doesn't indicate Kohli's impact on those away tour. He is the most successful Asian captain and unsurprisingly he is leading this team as well.

Imran Khan
1741 runs, 34.13 average, 2 hundreds, 157 wickets, 26.11 average, 11 fifers, 3 10fers
One of the greatest ever allrounder of all times. Khan was equally effective with both bat and ball in SENAW countries.

Rishab Pant
1050 runs, 35 average, 2 hundreds
This might be surprising selection to many, but Rishab's short career has already created more impact than many great Asian wicketkeepers. His series changing performance in Australia was enough to pick him as Wicketkeeper in the team.

Shakib Al Hasan
872 runs, 39.63 average, 2 hundreds, 49 wickets, 26.08 average, 5 fifers
This might trigger many and some may find this selection laughable. But, many would be surprised to know that Shakib has lowest average by asian spinner in SENAW nations. Adding to this, he is one of the very few to have double ton in New Zealand. But sadly, due to playing in weak team, Shakib has low impact as a player.

Wasim Akram
181 wickets, 24.65 average, 13 fifers, 4 ten fers
Best fast bowler from Asia has performed incredibly well in SENAW. He has taken by most number of wickets by an Asian pacer there with great average and impact.

Muttiah Muralitharan
157 wickets, 25.67 average, 14 fifers, 5 ten fers
Like many great spinners, Murali was ineffective in Australia but he was tremendous in England and New Zealand. His 5 ten fers are most by any asian in SENAW.

Jasprit Bumrah
97 wickets, 21.45 average, 6 fifers
Bumrah has a fifer in each SENAW nation except New Zealand. He has best average for any bowler from asia in those countries. Bumrah's match winning spells in those away tours has already won India many matches.

Javed Miandad
3340 runs, 46.38average, 9 hundreds
Miandad is 12th man of this team. He was highly impressive in England but was below his best in West Indies. This champion batsman has scored his runs with an impressive average.

My teams consists of 6 Indians, 3 Pakistanis, 2 Sri Lankans and sole member from Bangladesh.
Some very high quality players like Anil Kumble (highest wicket taker), Waqar Younis, Kapil Dev, VVS Laxman, Inzamam Ul Haq, Mohinder Amarnath and Mohd Yousuf were unlucky to miss out.

Team
Sunil Gavaskar
Rahul Dravid
Kumar Sangakkara
Sachin Tendulkar
Virat Kohli (Capt)
Imran Khan
Rishab Pant (WK)
Shakib Al Hasan
Wasim Akram
M Muralitharan
Jasprit Bumrah
12th man- Javed Miandad

Can this team challenge any SENAW nation in their own backyard ?
Please discuss and contribute.

You don't need two spinners in SENA. I would definitely have 4 seamers (3 genuine seamers + 1 seam bowling all rounder like Stokes) in my team for SENA conditions.

Kapil fits the category of the seam bowling all rounder. Had a gun record in Australia and West Indies and was an attacking player with the bat. With 2 gun all rounders in Imran and Kapil and with Wasim himself being a very capable batsman, you have long batting with only Murali and Bumrah being tailenders. Otherwise, you have compiled a very good team.

Sunil Gavaskar
Saeed Anwar
Rahul Dravid
Sachin Tendulkar
Virat Kohli
Rishabh Pant (wkt)
Imran Khan (c)
Kapil Dev/ Waqar Younis
Wasim Akram
Muttiah Muralitharan
Jasprit Bumrah

The fact that Rishabh Pant is included in that list is pathetic.

Also, has Bumrah reached the status to surpass other Asian giants in test cricket?

Pointless selections.

In test cricket, neither Bumrah nor Rishabh Pant have scaled the heights to be mentioned in the same breath as the other legends on that list.

Also, there were other options apart from Shakib, though to his credit, he has been the only reason Bangladesh have a test status along with Mushfiqur Rahim.

SENAW? It seems only performances in Australia matter these days. :inti

Combined stats from all SENAW nations have considered. By the way, Australia is the toughest place for Asians to travel. So, player performing there should get extra praise.

Really?
Name me another Asian Wicketkeeper with more impact than Pant in SENAW.
Also, name a single bolwer with a better stats and impact than Bumrah.

What about South Africa and New Zealand? :inti

Yeah. Performance in South Africa too deserve extra praise.
But sadly for you, i have considered performance in every SENAW country to make this team.
Performance in no particular country was given preference.
Someone like Dravid has ordinary stats in RSA but he was still prefer over Jayawardene who was excellent in England , as Dravid has overall better numbers in combined SENAW countries.
Hope you got this :inti

Oh so you are taking into consideration other countries too. Kindly post stats of Rishabh Pant in NZ, Eng and WI. He hasn't toured South Africa yet. :inti

Tell me another Asian wicketkeeper with more impact than Rishab Pant in SENAW.

You are the one who started this thread and you yourself said that you have considered performances in SENAW. You should break it down to each SENAW country so that we viewers can look at your team and give our opinion. Kindly post stats of Pant in WI, NZ and Eng. Thanks. :inti

Dear Bhaag Viru Bhaag,

Let us be nice guys like we were before and embrace love.

Post your Asian XI for SENAW and we will appreciate that surely.

You better to read again. There is another word with stats i.e Impact.
Pant is yet to play in South Africa, still he has maximum impact of all asian wicketkeepers.
This is another reason to add Pant. :inti
I'm not going to add Dhoni in my team as he most runs but no century and very few impact innings.

Let the guy who started the thread and posted his XI answer the questions on his XI because he has clearly written

Can this team challenge any SENAW nation in their own backyard ?

I am asking him politely to post stats of Pant in NZ, WI and Eng. Would like to see how much his performance in Aus has overshadowed his performances in other SENAW countries. Thanks. :inti

Ok. So you are talking about impact here? You are not posting his stats in NZ, WI and Eng but I am pretty sure you can post his stats with impact in NZ, WI and Eng? :inti

Can you kindly provide batting stats of wicketkeepers?

Ok. So you are talking about impact here? You are not posting his stats in NZ, WI and Eng but I am pretty sure you can post his stats with impact in NZ, WI and Eng? :inti

His series changing performance against mighty Australia is enough to seal his place in my team..
I'm again requesting you name a single wicketkeeper who has such dominating performance in any SENA series win let alone Australia.
Name one asian wicketkeeper who has contributed in series win even in West Indies and England.
Good luck 👋🏻

SENAW? It seems only performances in Australia matter these days. :inti

You have actually proved me right lol. You are only considering performances in Aus for Pant. You can't even post stats of your selected XI players and asking others to either name better players or post stats for you. Do your homework before you start threads like these. :inti

Also, has Bumrah reached the status to surpass other Asian giants in test cricket?

Pointless selections.

Bumrah will be comfortably the first 2-3 bowlers to play. So many series-changing spells. If you still need to see stats then,

JJ.jpg

He has a long way to join the greats of the game, but the question is simply about picking bowler in SENAW. You don't leave out bowler averaging 22 with SR of 50.

You are probably too ignorant to understand some basic things.
If you have better player than Pant then you mention here.
Put their name here, then we will discuss here about their stats and impact.
If you can't mention a single better player than Pant, then i am sorry to say You are wasting my time mate.

You are the one wasting my time here. You mentioned SENAW in the thread title but only considering performances in Australia for Pant. How does that make any sense? On top of that you are asking others to name their players. On what basis they should name their players? Performances in Australia or SENAW? :inti

Ok.. I request you to make contribution to my thread..
Please name a replacement for Pant who has played in all SENAW countries.

You suggest better players than Pant and Bumrah.

This is not how discussion works. You posted your XI but failing again and again to justify the reasons for selecting some players. Just say that this is your biased XI as an unbiased fan. :inti

LOL at pant and Bumrah

Indians will write anything

Statistically they are best fast bowler and wicket keeper respectively in SENA countries.

Why dont you tell us what wrong OP has written?

Some people's only judge player without watching . In 4th test this year when bumrah bowling to England batsman in 2nd innings ,he only take 2 wicket's but only person who watched that spell know how good was that spell of him. one of the best spell in recent time but he only take 2 wickets.

Winning in Australia should be equivalent to winning in a couple of SEN countries.

Winning in Australia is this hard.

In 2019, Australia had almost beat England if not for Stokes Headingley classic.

Then, they beat or actually whitewashed two extremely highest quality cricket nations - Pakistan and New Zealand.

Their record vs England over last 20 tests( 10 at home and 10 away) stands as :-

5-0 Aus
2-3 Eng
4-0 Aus
2-2 Draw

Australia 13-5 England and 2 draws.

Hence, if you beat Australia in a test series, you actually have beaten two out of four SENAW teams, that is how massive beating Australia is. It is pinnacle of the game.

He has justified it, it's just simply above your understanding level.

He says that Pant's stats are better than most of the other wicketkeepers from Asia in SENAW conditions and also he has qon a series forumdisplay.php his team in Aus that's why he chose Pant, doesn't matter what his stats and impact are until they are better than the others. Especially better than Dhoni who people considered the best WK batsman from Asia.

I had to reduce minimum requirement to 500 runs as only 3 batsman made over 1000 runs as WK.

Longevity matters.

Nobody is saying he won't get selected, that's out of order.

We all know his body is injury prone. He has gotten 100 test wickets, but how many more?

Just my opinion, I'd happily take him but I prefer having a bowler with longevity.

Ok here it goes:

Dravid
Gavaskar
Sangakkara
Tendulkar
VVS
Pant
Imran
Kapil
Wasim
Bumrah
Muralitharan

Batting till 8.

4 pacers - Wasim, Bumrah, Imran & Kapil

1 ATG spinner

Top 4 volume scorers.

VVS & Pant clutch.

Imran & Kapil for lower order runs.

Unbiased-Fan

Off the cuff.

Haven't put a lot of thought into it.

Chose from a team balance's perspective.

Prime Kohli of 2018 replaces VVS or Sanga.

I want VVS cos he often is the difference between a win and a loss in a tough game.

Respect to OP for showing the stats behind the selections instead of making emotional/nostalgic picks.

I don't really disagree with the picks, maybe Rizwan over Pant if we're purely going by numbers but I hear the point about Pant's impact making ability.

I'll go with:

Gavaskar
Dravid
Kohli (c)
Sachin
Miandad
VVS
Sanga (w/k)
Imran
Wasim
Murali
Bumrah

12th man Kapil

I don’t think 4 bowlers* would be an issue with Murali in there, he loved bowling* long spells.
