Who exactly do you think is the biggest contender for the best batsmen of the decade across formats?

Here are some of the major contenders:

Sangakkara
Amla
ABD
Cook
Younis
Warner
Smith
Kohli
Root
Williamson

Ofcourse things may change in two and half years.

Smith looks to be the front-runner atm.

Sanga hardly worth mention as he retired in 2015.Cook and YK not so good in tests.

This gotta be between Amla, Smith, ABD and kohli tbh across all formats.

The former two in tests while latter two in odis.

Irrespective of formats, this gotta be Smith- the best test batsmen in the world and also has done well in odis winning his team WC with solid contributions from the bat in the knockouts.

AB's stocks have plummeted last few years. He was running away with it before then.

We will see at the end of 2019 but it'll be one of AB, Smith or Kohli

Younis Khan without a doubt followed by Sangakara and Smith

Sanga followed by Younis from 2010-2019 era.

I think for test matches between 2015-2025 it is going to be Root>Williamson>Smith>Kohli.

Smith, closely followed by ABD. Injury, avoiding test matches has really damaged ABD's reputation. I am putting ABD this high because of his ODI performance which is inhumane. But ABD is a diminishing force

Steven Smith is an ATG in the making and a possible contender for GOAT.

across all formats id say Smith and Root will end up as the two standouts. Followed by K.W and Kohli.

AB from 2010-15 made a really good case but his Test career is winding down now. So for the whole decade i dont think he will come into it. Amla also was a beast from 2010-2014 but he is winding down also.

YK has been awful in ODIs in the 2010s so in all formats he doesnt make the cut. Same with Cook too.

Still a couple of years to go and a lot can happen with a lot of high profile series coming up. Although, if I had to choose someone right now, it'd be Amla. I reckon it'd be definitively Smith by the team the decade winds down.

Amla? How does Amla qualify? Both ABD and Kohli blows Amla out of the park in ODIs, whereas Smith and Kane Williamson have been much better than Amla in test

Asad Shafiq, closely followed by Shan Masood.

Let's see if Shehzad can overtake them by the end if 2019.

Smith - already won an ODI world cup in this decade and averages 60+ in tests so far.

Weren't you calling him an FTB?

Anyway, across formats Kohli and in Tests it will be Smith IMO. Would prefer Smith across formats too but Kohli had an extra gear in LOIs.

He didn't play much in this decade but still had decent amount of cricket beyond 2010 and "across all formats" KP was definitely the best. Post-KP, it has been Smith.

Amla was the best in the world from 2010 to 2014. Smith has been the best since 2015. It's going to be those two at #1 and #2 and after them, guys like Sanga, de Villiers, and perhaps Kohli.

If we look at individual formats then Younis and Cook would be right up there too.

Correction:- Cook and Yk not so good in other formats except tests.

I don't care a hoot about ODI performances. Amla was clearly the best test batsman on the planet for the first half of the decade. Performances have dipped since due to age and captaincy pressures, and I doubt I'd wager for him by the time the decade is over as I think both Smith and Kohli will surpass him. De Villiers isn't even in the conversation due to his lack of impact as a test player.

what a silly thread! decade is far from being over!
