Arguably the West Indies team under Clive Lloyd was the best test team ever in the history of cricket with no team displaying such a height of supremacy. It was a daunting challenge even for fast bowler to make a dent in their batting.,harnessing all their possible reserves of energy. Here I am choosing the best bowling performances by a pace bowler. against Clive Lloyd's invincibles.

Best bowling in tests against West Indies led by Clive Lloyd chosen in order of merit.

1.Dennis Lillee 7-83 at Melbourne in 1981-82 and 5-78 at Adelaide in 1979-80

Charging in all pumped up Dennis Lillee was a sight for the Gods exuberatang energy or agression rarely seen in cricket .Epitome of perfect pace bowling package and determination .Can never forget his dismissal of Viv Richards on the 1st day on the evening of the Melbourne test.

3.Ian Botham 8-103 at Lords in 1984

Not dazzling speed but complete mastery of seam movement and weaknesses of opponents.

4.Kapil Dev 9-83 at Ahmedabad in 1983-84

Arguably the best marathon exhibition of pace bowling on a wicket unfit for test cricket.Length and line of the highrest degree blended with subtle movement.

5.Geoff Lawson 8-112 at Adelaide in 1984-85

Struck effect of lightning and thunder with dazzling effort of speed and movement.

6.Imran Khan 6-80 at Kingston in 1977

On a pitch with pace of lightning in characteristic manner Imran struck terror in the West Indian batting.

7.Bob Willis 5-62 at Trent Bridge in 1980

Determination and mental resilience at its optimum height with dazzling speed which all but clinched a historic win.

I was there for the Botham 8-103. He was bowling quick actually, a lot faster than usual. That’s why he got hit about in the second innings, he blew himself out in the first.

My vote is for DK’s 7-83 against excellent batting on a Melbourne flattie. And yeah, that dismissal of Richards (off the last ball of the day) was masterful.
