Best Pakistani university for engineering?

My dad is a NED engineer, sharpest guy I know. He himself says that NED sucks now. They haven't updated the syllabus since his time. (A classmate of his is the dean now, so he has inside scoop). Very rarely you will find institutions run by government being upto world standard.

My cousin went to Bahria.

I think it is decent. He went to Canada for Masters and since doing reasonably well now. I know I have a sample of 1 but still...

got acceptance from AIR and FAST. But looking to apply to BAhria

I only hope they dont create any problems when i ask for fee refund from FAST

Does it matter what campus you get admission in? For example if you wanted admission in the Lahore campus of FAST but you end up in the faisalabad campus?

What I mean is will that have an effect on the value of the degree or your job prospects? Or is the fact that you want to FAST all that matters?

It will have an effect.
This should be your preference: Fast Lahore > Fast Islamabad > Fast Faisalabad

But Fast Faisalabad isnt bad either. The system is same. Just that it isnt reputed like the 2 others as it just started few years back. If you are decent at programming you will get a job soon after your degree.

You wont have a problem. I got admission Fast, studied there for 2 weeks then got admission in Nust and switched to NUST. Applied for refunding at Fast and they refunded around 50 or 75 percent (dont remember correctly) of my tuition fee. Check their refunding rule. I think they dont refund after 4th week of start of classes. May be its changed now.

Yes I applied for Islamabad one, the result is going to be out soon...1 or 2 days maybe...

But if I can't make it to SEECS on merit but make it to EME , will I not be automatically given the admission?

Did you put EME EE in your preference list ? Depends on your merit. For last few years SEECS EE has higher merit than EME EE. All the best :)
btw in our time we had the chance to change preference list. Dont know about now.

Oh no, just checked it and what have I done!

Electrical followed by civil followed by computer science:danish

Dissapointed

Yes the guys at Fast asked me something to buy for them. Dont remember if i did or not.
Also ragging is bit fun especially if girls do it ;) you will remember it and laugh in future. Chill :)

how many days does it last?

man im shy of girls.

Im screwed :(((((

did you studied in Canada as an international student or local?

Like didn't they bother you due to less credits and such?

For the first couple of years I was international, from then on I was a permanent resident.

And actually you get around 30 credits exempted for Alevels.

About time you get over your shyness of girls. You are in your 20s for God's sake. I was the shyest guy I know so much so that during O/A level I had trouble keeping eye contact with girls will talking to them, but by the time I hit 19-20 I had zero shyness left. Girls are just human beings man, a bit weird, but still human.

Sharmatay rahogaye tou larki kahan se milaygi? :danish

I really liked a girl, I was terrified though if I asked her and what if she said no. I thought screw it, zyada se zyada bay-izati hee ho jai gee toh pehlay konsa nahi hui. So I asked her. 6.5 years later happily married. :narine Lekin bisti abhi bhi hoti hai kabhi kabar
Major it'll be fine :))

Well I have faced the Mr. rags men when entering the high school for A levels, but I have this habit of getting used to the environment very soon so I'm always good at dodging, though ALL my friends got ragged...

Girls is ok, but I won't give away a single penny!

Was reading the thread. What kind of fees these Unis like LUMS NUST FAST etc charge?

What are the most valued subjects to take in engg in Pakistani Unis?Like in India the top two subjects are computer sciences and Electronic and Telecommunication.

How bad is ragging in Pakistan? In India it has decreased drastically since the govt made it a criminal offence.

Ragging was never that bad in Pakistan to begin with. Of course, a lot of poor kids were bullied in hostels and universities but to the point where they killed themselves was a rarity.

There used to be two unspoken rules of ragging in NUST. You won't touch the freshie and you won't make him spend his money on you. And this was when ragging used to be severe. Nowadays, it's nothing compared to what it used to be.

My suggesstion is to don't try to dodge it. You develop a greater camaraderie both with seniors and other classmates which will be really important for your in next four years.

Guys what about IST for engineering? Is that harder to get into than the likes of NUST, PIEAS and UET? Also is the nts test harder and tougher to pass than the ECAT?
