In the modern day and age batting has become much more easier and almost every pitch in the world is flat now. In LOI it is very rare to see pitches that assist Swing/Seam or Spin. In tests there is still a case of getting spin on day 4/5 pitches but even in Tests the green and bowling friendly wickets are almost completely gone.

This has not only effected the bowlers but now since there is less swing/seam and spin to worry about the batsman are not as good at facing it when they are required to.

If we look at the Australia-SA Test last year the whole team that was racking up huge scores at home was dwindled and sent packing for 80 odd runs, then we can even take this Sunday for example the three India batsman that were looking invincible throughout the tournament were all dismissed within the first ten overs. If we talk about spin teams have not batted as well as they should be batting against spin either.

So taking all this into account there are very few players that are great swing/seam or spin players therefore who do you think is the best player of swing and the best player of spin. Taking into account performances in all formats and how they have done when pressure has mounted on them and they have had to face quality bowling tough situations.

Best Player of Swing/Seam - Steve Smith (He comes in at number 3/4 and if the bowl is swinging the other batsman get out fairly quickly and he is one of the few batsman in world cricket who has shown the ability to perform against lateral movement. His innings against SA in the Test last year is proof of that)

Best Player of Spin - Can't think of anyone that has dominate spin in every format of the game when the bowl has been turning, but I'd have to say AB de Villiers at the moment because he has played spin extremely well everywhere I can remember.

Best Player of Swing/Seam and Spin - Steve Smith If we had to account both swing and spin, I'd have to say Smith has done well against both of them IMO I can't think of anyone who has played spin and swing as well as he has.

Those are my picks what are yours?

The old guard Hashim still has it but he's gotta reduce the bat swivel. He's gotta adjust as he ages. Root, Faf, Bavuma, Williamson, Azhar, Raval, Latham are all pretty good.

Root is probably the best against swing and seam. Azhar has done a remarkable job considering he is an Asian batsman.

Against spin, Cook has been really good recently.

Steve Smith against quality swing is a bit of a question mark however he's very good vs spin and is overall the best however, it would've been the mighty Hash who had no weakness at all before he lost his form.

When it comes to pure swing and seam, it's between Root and Williamson. Shoutout to (Rahane, Latham, Azhar)

Against spin, I would go with Smith. He is simply phenomenonal and has got results too. Let's not underrate Pujara too. He is a dream spin player himself.

Vs swing and seam,Azhar, Williamson, Root,Amla,Rahane.

Vs spin- Smith,ABD,Cook,Amla,Pujara, Williamson, Mathews.

I would say for swing and seam, Smith too

But for spin , I think sarfraz is right up there especially in tests. Two attacking cuts and then he milks away the spinners never seems to get uncomfortable against spin.

Root,Williamson

Williamson is mainly a leg side dominated player, and he tries to cover his stumps to play through Mid On (in the fashion Kohli got out against Amir in the Final) most of the time. Amla does the same. Since more sides are figuring that out, they now keep a leg slip especially early on. Hence, I feel, he will be more vulnerable in the future. As for Smith, just the fourth stump line with an angle across him gets him out quite easily.

Now you are probably wondering why I just listed that. I actually wrote that, 'cause I really don't think Smith and Williamson are going to be as successful in the near future as most sides are catching on with plans agaisnt them.

I think Azhar, Root and Asad (was weak against the in swing delivery, but now plays with a more open bat face since the Eng series in 2016) are probably the best players of Swing and Spin because they don't have very obvious weaknesses. I was particularly impressed with Azhar and Root this Champion's Tophy. When Root played Imad off the back foot, which is actually extremely difficult (Amla found out the hard way), shows he has ability to judge the length very early and hence is good player of spin. Also the way Azhar negotiated the new ball, especially against Kumar in the final, was really freshning.

Listen Azhar is a great batsmen

Teams can't get him out,He makes a mistake or has a brain fade but for the last year or so you really have to bowl a peach to get him,

I feel Williamson is a great player of swing and seam

If you play on green mambas all the time

Kohli would average 38,Root 45,Smith 40

He averages 50 give him some credit

Them 2 hundreds against South Africa were great innings
