What went wrong for India in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After an excellent start to the series with unexpected domination over the Aussies in the first Test, team India subsequently just threw in the towel and squandered multiple opportunities to stage a comeback in the series. Be it the inability to take wickets under light in the 2nd Test or the epic collapse in the second Innings of 4th and 5th Test against Australia. India owing to some players just bottled BGT series after a decade but in your opinion who were the real culprits as compared to sincere performers who failed badly too.

1. Virat Kohli (A tour filled with antics and buffoonery plus the classic love with 6th Stump slip catches)
2. Rohit Sharma ( He came, He saw and He.....)
3. Rishabh Pant (Used to settle empathically first just to throw his wicket later)
4. Gautam Gambhir ( The silent background assassin)
5.Yashawi Jaiswal (Hero of the Indian team with ironic villianish cameos)
And it goes on and on, so guys please help us in separating the sincere strugglers from real culprits.

While it is hard to judge, we can safely conclude that almost all Indians are insincere, and thus, applying this to the team, they are most likely all culprits.

Siraj is the exception. He seems sincere.

Yeah he has a lot in common with any XI of Pakistanis playing in the Southern Hemisphere.

Very sincere in all their regular losses . Can't even accuse them of fixing matches these days :(

Both Pakistan and India lost three matches in the most recent series against Aus. No need to go further than that.

Main Culprit are the umpires, especially that Bangladeshi umpire. I have no doubt without umpiring bias, the series would have been much closer even if we would have lost.

Umpiring was fine, this is just sour grapes. Blame the indian batsmen for not showing up.

Lol literally see the deflection

This is easy. Main culprits and the main reasons are kohli rohit jadeja.. even debutantes instead of 3 and ind could have easily won the series. Useless leeches.. kohli not scoring runs and his embarrassing clownish behaviour. Rohit selfish and the biggest unpardonable sin running bumrah into the ground.. jadeja useless bowler and dedensive batsman.. these 3 need to be kicked out asap..

1) Rohit & Kohli wasting space in the team.
2) Loss of Shami has hurt India badly. The bowling pressure applied by India on Aus fell off steeply once Bumrah was out of the attack. It was easy-peasy for Aus batting to negotiate the likes of Akashdeep, Prasidh and Rana.
3) Pant's inability to score big after getting a good start in almost all the innings. He was the only one to look comfortable against every Aus bowler.
4) Jaiswal had a decent series overall. But could've done better.
5) Rahul was Rahul. One good innings followed by a string of failures. He was getting out to Jaffas. But such is his luck.
6) Siraj was disappointing overall. He was asked to fill the role of Shami and failed.
7) Reddy had a decent series. He is a good prospect. He needs to up his pace to mid 130's or at least low 130's. 120-125k is not good enough as a pace bowling all rounder.
8) Jadeja showed some fight with the bat. He had a decent series. Aus pitches are not for spinners. Even Lyon looked pedestrian.
9) Sundar should be groomed to be a middle order batsman. He is batting too low for my liking. He has the talent to even open the innings. Can't judge is bowling as he was sparsely used. He will be the first choice spinner once Jaddu also retires.
10) Selection committee needs to face the truth about seniors in the team. Non-performers should be dropped.

Kohli and Rohit obviously. They play at crucial spot. But Rohtis captaincy takes the cake.

But even with atrocious captaincy, bizarre tram selection India still could have won but for two things.

1. Pants senseless shot
2. Bumrah missing almost an entire test.

Sorry man, but what did Kohli and Bumrah did in the last Test. Credit to Bumrah but what did Kohli did except...

For a long time Jadeja. Ashein , Axar were covering for Kohlis failures. First time they went missing was in NZ tour. Both lost their spot because of that. Kohli still plays. BCCi is responsible for this loss if we want to look at this at macro level. They forced India to play these guys. India paid the penalty as expected. Many called it even b4 the series. As long as these two play India wins zilch.

2021 had one of the weakest team in history as it mainly had net bowlers. It tells you one thing.

Strong TEAM > collection of superstars.

It is a team game. You play as a team. You win as a team.

Although this Aussie side wasn't the GOAT either...no where near Ponting's peak side. Usman Khawaja was a passenger all along

I think India did Injustice with Jurel. He was doing good in India A vs Australia A tour if I remember correctly

India made a huge mess by sticking to Virat for these games 5/5. They should have dropped/rested him after 2 or 3rd. Also I would say the same for Rohit. He should have never comeback. Gill is another guy who was over-hyped and he failed badly.

Kohli was the biggest culprit. Was terrible with the bat and behaved like an embarrassing idiot
Tbh I blame him the most, allowed Aussies to troll indians, riled them up and when the time came to deliver just nicked even worse than a tailender.

Happened to Pak too on their tour to Aus

They (Aussies) always do that man. When they can't win, they unleash umpires.

Bro Jaiswal alone wouldn't have rescued India...anyway Kohli forwarded your message to the whole crowd.

Someone with better memory can probably list the marginal calls that went against Pak. I remember some being very critical.

However, I don’t agree with your hashtag man. Snicko or no snicko, that deflection was massive. In the name of technology, you can’t lose sight of the obvious.

Bumrah was the main culprit.

He gave false hope to a billion fans

BCCI Told To Show Extreme Authority After Australia Debacle, Send "Strong Message" To Underperforming India Stars

Team India's 3-1 series defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 has put serious question marks on faltering stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Poor performances from the veteran stars have left their Test futures in jeopardy, with several fans and experts questioning why they don't play domestic cricket regularly either. In light of this scenario, a former BCCI official has reportedly requested that a "strict message" be sent to those who have failed to perform for Team India.

As per a report by Dainik Jagran, a former BCCI official had told the media outlet that he requests a strict step to be taken towards underperforming players.

"Regardless of what fans and internet media say, cricket is run by the BCCI in this country, and we should also be able to see how the BCCI runs it," said the official. "There is a need to send a strong message to all those players who think that they're bigger than the game," he said further.

"A new team needs to be chosen. Ajit Agarkar is the chairman of selectors, and the new BCCI secretary (Devajit Sakiya) should call him and send a strict message," the official further said.

Recent results of Team India have not been up to par, especially after the arrival of Gautam Gambhir as head coach. Since Gambhir's arrival, India have lost an ODI series away in Sri Lanka, suffered a humiliating 0-3 Test series whitewash against New Zealand at home, and then lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1 against Australia.

A glaring weakness during these failures has been the poor performance by India's batters, particularly veterans like Rohit and Kohli. However, both are expected to be persisted with for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 following great performances in the 2023 World Cup.

India's next Test challenge comes in the form of England away in June.
