When you are playing with

Amir who has taken 3 wickets in last 12 matches
Imad who has taken 30 wickets in 37 matches
Abbas who was debuting and conditions dont suit his style of bowling
Yasir Shah who has played 20 matches with 19 wickets @45
Faheem was probably the most attacking option out of these however he is still learning and isnt that experienced

Cant blame Imad as he is an all rounder, who was never an attacking spinner. He can do a holding job as he has been doing most of his career.

Wont blame Abbas as well, with conditions were not suiting him at all he still managed decent line and length and bowled economically.

But the question is how this bowling attack could have taken 10 wickets? There was no chance of that unless bowl started to reverse or there was some assitance from the pitch or Pak scoring 320+. There was almost mo bowler who could have forced the things and make something happen.

Assuming Yasir and Amir as attacking options when their stats show otherwise was a blunder from management. A good bowling attack comprises of attacking as well as defensive options however in these conditions this bowling attack was full on defensive.

Only two bowlers in the squad who are attacking options in these conditions are Hasnain and Shinwari (I know how he goes for runs but unfortunately he is the only other guy in the squad who might be an attacking option and take wickets like he did in that 1 off occasion against SA and Srl).

We dont have any attacking spinner or pacer in the squad and that can be problematic in future games as well.

I wont be surprised if sometimes in the series Mickey plays a 4 man pace attack with Imad as spinner agianst Aussies and that too in UAE as there is no other spin option than Yasir. Have seen a lot of such tricks from Mickey to be surprised anymore.

Its surprising to say the least that Haris Rauf, Zafar Gohar, Umar Khan or even Wahab Riaz couldnt get a place in this squad especially considering the conditions.

This series should be the end of Abbas and Yasir. Amir should be dropped as well if he keeps on bowling like that, he has lost pace, no swing and no threat. Time to invest in youngsters after WC and move on from Amir.

What did Abbas do wrong?

Amir will probably get another game in this series. I'm fairly sure that he remains a favourite to go to the WC given his percieved ability to raise his game for the big occasion.

In a way it's good that we lost. There were some positives from yesterday's match. It is good to see both Haris and Shan in the playing XI.If both of them perform well in this series then they are surely going to the world cup.Imad has done really well at no.7 and more or less has secured his place in the team for WC.
Bowling was lifeless and usually we don't see 280 being chased in UAE but this bowling attack is so mediocre that they would have even conceded 325.
This series will make sure that Amir doesn't go to WC.I was a huge admirer of Amir but he has lost the plot.He has lost literally everything be it swing, pace or motivation.
Abbas bowled decently but the wickets in England would be flat so I don't see Abbas making it to the WC team.
This might even be Yasir's last series in ODI's .I liked Inzi's thought process behind picking up Yasir in the team.It would have been good to have two leg spinners in the team but Yasir simply isn't the option for the second leg spinner.
This performance will also increase the chances of Hasnain making it to the team soon and I want him to perform well when given opportunity.

Why did not they given a chance to Hasnain? This is the time to groom him for big occasions.

Yasir shah - Out of that 19 wickets 9 in Zimbabwe
6 in srilanka only revolutionary inzi can explain this baffling selection in this crucial wc time .

Exactly, I dont understand how Inzi and Mickey are suddenly expecting from Yasir at this age to revolutionize his LOIs bowling. He was pretty mediocre in PSL as well, almost every single spinner who played more than 2-3 matches in PSL outperformed him.

I dont mind the loss but I am worried about the strategies and and lack of tactical nuisance this team management is showing. Playing against Aus in UAE with only 1 specialist spinner who isnt a specialist LOI spinner to start with. On top of that selecting couple of pacers in the first ODI to which the wicket didnt suit in anyway as there was no grass or seam movement. Only thing that could have been achieved was with couple of pacers who can bowl quick and extract if there is any reverse. Fastest bowlers we have in this squad at the moment were Hasnaian and Shinwari which could have easily played in these conditions.

If the match would have been in Abu Dhabi which provides some movement especially with the new ball Amir, Abbas and Junaid could have been effective. I dont know how hard it is to read conditions for experts there and check the historical stats of the grounds that what works on these conditions and venue most of the times.

I have said multiple times that Mickey is decent with developing players that are not spinners but he is really poor in reading any sort of conditions and tactically defeating the Opposition as we have seen his blunders time and time again.

Dont judge Pakistani bowling by peeformances in UAE. They are at their best in England.

Spot on!
Honestly speaking I don't think there will be any changes for the second match even though the match again is in Sharjah. They will still Play Amir and well it will be hard to drop Abbas after just one match and he had a decent outing.

Only in Pakistan will they pick people with garbage domestic track record in LOI(Abbas) or international LOI track record (Yasir) based on their test exploits.

Thanks to Inzi the revolutionary.

Well tbf, this used to happen even before Inzi...

Do people even question Inzi when he announces these squads? These guys need to be held responsible. They can't keep getting away with same mistakes over and over. These guys are the definition of insanity; they do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.

What was the point of cricket committee? What are they even doing?

shaheen is our new amir anyway.

amir should focus on these t20 leagues to make a living
