Its time to take action, instead of sitting in our armchairs tutting,we should show our disgust in light of all the recent allegations.

Our cricketing team and our nation are far from perfect but the smears by the British press and in particular The Sun and Daily Mail newspaper has shown what a racist, disrespectful and hate-mongering paper they are.

We should boycott the Sun and the Daily Mail,do NOT buy their paper and add a few more pennies into Rupert Murdoch's bank,do not post any articles/links of The Sun and Daily Mail and email the two rags, show your disgust.

Pakistan has a lot of faults yes,but its one thing to highlight them, another to label every Pakistani as a cheat.

Boycott the two papers and take a stand.

I have never bought the Mail, and very rarely have I bought the Sun.

Not late at all bhai, you see there was a major stadium disaster at a football match at Hillsborough,Sheffield(my hometown) in 1989.

The 96 fans that died was due to terrible policing and The Sun and Daily Mail printed awful headlines that the same fans were drunk and violent when they were clearly not.
21 years later the Hillsborough Justice Campaign is still ongoing and many are still angry at The Sun in particular for printing such hurtful lies.

These lies by the British press has to be nipped in the bud.

I don't buy either, but it's a decent suggestion. In Liverpool there are still people today who boycott the Sun following their coverage of the Hillsborough disaster in football. The Sun tried to grovel to get the readership back onside but to this day the boycott stands.

The Sun have no morals whatsoever. If they can slag off dead people, they can label an entire country cheats !

I was appalled by The SUN yesterday - They had a picure of every player, their misdemeanour, and then 'pack your bags'....

For Shoiab - well there were too many to list but they mentioned steroids...

For Asif - ban for steroids and spending jail for possession of opium

For MOYO - life ban and then having it oveturned...

Malik, Akmals, Afridi - huge fines only to be oveturned...

I hate the tabloid press, and some of it has been bordring on the obsence,
like taking the mickey out of Fawads teeth etc...

HOWEVER, all the blame still lies squarely with the PCB...

I remember how people were initially shocked with the gouprings, oath taking videos taken at the hearings. They were then shocked with the life bans, fines etc etc etc...

Then people were happy that the bans were lifted, fines were cut and then removed altogether!!!

Is it no wonder the press and the general public as a whole have a deep mistrust of Pakistan, its team, and the people who govern it???

I am not condoning the british press, but this PCB has a lot to answer for..
I remember when the hearings were ongoing and bans were being implemented, my initial comment was that this PCB is taking us down the gutter and look I was right..

Forget the british press we have to get our own house in order and the first step has to be removing Mr Butt from the PCB and getting good, decent, educated people to run our cricket administration who inturn employ proper selectors with authority and team managers who can actually handle the players and not lead them into a hotel room to carry out oath takings!

+1 Top,top post.We certainly dont help ourselves,we're a tabloids dream. What a lot of British celebrities and sportsmen do is that they take out a gag order on the press from reporting,an injuction.Or they go to publicists like Max Clifford or hire PR men.We dont have the education or knowhow to even do that.

Was a Sun reader untill first fixing scandal broke.Their football coverage is lively but never again will they get my 25p.

I've been boycotting The Sun ever since the Wapping dispute of 1986. I had an uncle who was one of the 6,000 sacked printworkers. Not that I ever used to buy The Sun in any case!

Funnily enough, I don't buy The Daily Mail either. My Grandad used to tell me that in the 1930's it supported Sir Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts (The British Union of Fascists - the equivalent of today's BNP, open supporters of Hitler, and the reason why political uniforms are now banned in this country). I looked it up and found it was true. Not much has changed in its editorial policy since then, except that it always backs the Conservative Party in elections nowadays rather than something further to the right. It wants to appear "respectable," I suppose. The hate-filled articles and editorials riddled with racism, bigotry, and middle class snobbery remain the same, though.

How many here really buy the Sun or NOTW.. even in the event of a complete boycott it wouldn't affect their sales much.

Get your dad's to stop selling these paper's in the corner shops or from your own :119:

Were you actually even buying this soft-porn peddaling filth in the first place?

I feel dirty at thought of even clicking on the online links that have been posted here since the NOTW allegations!

Seriously people actually buy Sun? I hope you guys do know who's actually considered their target audience.

Hey,if the Sun are happy to spit on the graves of 96 innocent football fans, porn is fairly easy.

over 3million people in the uk buy it, the next best selling paper is the mirror at just over 1million.

I think know that but the point, its not the paper designed for educated and middle class folks, unless its not the "news" you look for. I don't see why would you wanna waste your time reading junk.

The Sun and Daily Mail have the largest daily circulation in the UK, hence very influential.

Well the middle class or educated folk might not read it but evidently a fair few people do. It's considered important enough to have decided elections in the past.

From my experience the people who tell other people not read these papers are always the ones who carry on reading them!
Anyway most of what they say is the same as what our ex players have been alleging for many years. Don`t give them ammunition by becoming a disciplined team which promotes the country and doesn`t reinforce negative stereotypes. PCB AND THE PLAYERS HAVE A LOT TO ANSWER FOR!

I do not read the NOTW,Sun or Daily Mail.If you live in Britain, you'd know that those gutter-mouth rag tabloids are avoided by most sane citizens.

:))):))) at those who'll have to actually buy these papers in the first place to 'boycott'

As you may or may not know around 70% of Pakistani men in the UK are taxi drivers and from my experience they ones that buy newspapers always read the sun or the star. The required reading age to understand the sun is about 8.
Are you insulting your fellow brethren?

Biggest pile of BS since todays edition of The Sun!

What nonsense you spout.

Somehow, (from other threads), methinks you protest too much about who you are..

And when did you do conduct these censuses? :poodle

Quote your articles if they're from the Sun. I think we'd all rather not give them any undeserved hits.

you can add the mirror to the list of boycotable tabloids

they were the prime instigators of the waqar/akram bashing in the 90's

I remember doing a case study on that some time ago! A young boy Tony Bland was severely injured and survived for three years in PVS. The family of that boy and the doctors sought the granting of euthanasia in that case, which was granted. Its diabolical for the Sun to mar the deaths of all those fans as their own fault, when it clearly wasn't.

British tabloids like these papers, print blatant lies about absolutly everybody and anybody. I mean, doesn't anybody remember what they did to Lady Diana? Michael Jackson? Just to name a few..

I seriously oppose these celebrated gutter-journalists - should be boycotted for good.

I am a taxi driver in Manchester and I can tell you The Sun or daily Star are not the papers that pakstani taxi drivers read.Overwhelming majority of them read .........

The one and only daily Jang UK addition.I love the way they proudly break 48 hours old news to me.

what did they say about the alledged paedophile?

LOL dude, I know you hate him like anything - but I'm giving an example to the lengths the tabloids can go to in order to sell their papers. Hyper-something chamber, anorexia, homosexuality, religious preferences (at one point he was building a shrine to worship Liz Taylor, at some point he allegedly converted to Islam - don't know how true that is but it'd be great if he did..) etc...

What a title...

Sad really that there's only two decent papers in the UK, the times and the independent, one locked behind a paywall... Journalism really is dying.

I read the sun online everyday because i think its good to know what the 'other side' thinks!
Also, its free, so doesn't cost me anything.

Naseem must have been really good for them to reluctantly include it as a part of the headline. Choti choti khushiyan.

The online versions are not really anything like the printed version which people will read at home. Here's a good snapshot for our Indian members.

I used to read the Sun religiously until they put it behind a paywall. I already pay for The Times, but I wasn't going to pay to read tabloid tat. I know they removed the paywall now, but I found once I was out of the habit I don't really miss it any more.

In fact I am going to stop paying for the Times as well, it's not much better these days.
