Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is no more.

Oscar-winning actress and director Jolie, who is also a special envoy for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), has filed for divorce from actor and producer Pitt, according to Robert Offer, lawyer for Jolie.

Offer said the decision was made "for the health of the family."

Jolie and Pitt, referred to in entertainment media as Brangelina, have six children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Vivienne and Knox.

The two met on the set of the 2004 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith — an action comedy in which they starred as married assassins working for rival agencies — and officially became a couple in 2005.

After about a decade together, the pair married in August 2014.

Most recently, the two starred as a troubled married couple in 2015's By the Sea, which Jolie directed.

Jolie was previously married to actor Billy Bob Thornton and, earlier, actor Johnny Lee Miller. Pitt was previously married to actress Jennifer Aniston.

Jolie and Pitt's relationship was one of contemporary Hollywood's most high-profile, tabloid-covered pairings.

Myriad articles debated whether they first hooked up while he was still married to Aniston, media around the world reported on the births of the globe-trotting couple's children (Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne) and their adoptions (Maddox, Zahara and Pax), while their alleged marital spats were regular fodder in U.S. tabloids.

In recent years, Jolie has balanced her filmmaking with various causes, including working with the UN to highlight the plight of refugees and for increased awareness of breast and ovarian cancer, after her revelation that she'd undergone a preventative double mastectomy (and, later, further preventative surgery).

Oh MY GOD! This can't be true! Not this way! Good God Almighty! All hope has been destroyed Red Devil :))

They were my favourite hollywood couple and I guess they lasted longer then most so that was a big achievement, anyhow I wish the both of them the best and hope that one day Angelina Jolie reunites with Brad Pitt on the choo choo train again like Simran did with Raj. If not, it's all good so long they are happy.

Yeah same, they were great together. This is really sad.

I can totally hear Aniston say sarcastically "haa" like she does in her weird smirk face.

According to lawyers it was the method of parenting that Brad did which she didn't like. :/

I am surprised they lasted as long as they did. Marriage to celebrities is just a means of fashion. They get fed up with one partner then move on.

Not a surprise, I am surprised that it lasted that long. I am just waiting for the Beckham divorce as I predicted about 3 years that both marriages would end in divorce within 5 years.

Love marriages have a higher percentage divorce rate than arranged marriages.

Jay z and Beyonce is the only popular power couple left iirc

Other than Malik / Sania in sports.

Perhaps but then again just because a couple forcefully remains married doesn't mean they are happily married. I have seen many cases where it would indeed have been better for the couple especially when young to just split and move on rather than remain bound in an unhappy unpleasant marriage.

Doesn't say much.

A person accepting arranged marriage is also less inclined to go "against the grain" by divorcing his/her spouse.

Who cares.
It's not nicertain for those involved but why does there need to be a thread on this

Sad, so now Abhishek-Aishwarya are the top most celebrity couple.

 like people actually know who the hell they are.

I dont understabd, angelina had already had 2 divorces so what did you expect.

Next up is kim kardashian or that immature family of beckham.

Yea that's true.

I really want to watch the movie mr and mrs smith again... their chemistry was just too good in it.

Midlife crisis on show. Fairly typical in this environment.

It's almost every couple these days, eventually they will get bored of each other or one of them will cheat then move on to the next person repeat. Eventually they will settle with someone past their prime years during a time when neither have the energy to get bored with each other or cheat and then they will die. No such thing as settling with the "right one"

It's understandable when you are young and want to explore. I just don't think there's much excuse for raising a family at that age then ditching when it all gets too much.

Apparently the wife here gave up on the marriage, not the husband.

Apparently she gave up because the hubbie cheated on his wife. Well, actually that is how they ended up getting married in the first place, but that's a different issue altogether.

Everything is not always the husbands fault. Typical victim mentality by the women, she encouraged him to cheat on his ex-wife to be with her, this is just karma biting her now.

True, in general though the biggest victims are the children in the end.

Curse of the couple making a bad movie together. "By the Sea" did for Brangelina what "Gigli" did for Bennifer and "Shanghai Surprise" did for Penn and Madonna. Should be a warning to all celebrity couples, don't make a movie together.

wth!?
